At $699.99 for 128GB, the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE is worth considering if you want a large Samsung display, a three-camera setup, and long stated software support—but it is not an automatic bargain. The 256GB model was listed at $799.99, and Samsung’s U.S. store also listed the regular Galaxy S26 at $799.99 when checked. Compare current prices and storage before deciding: a discount on the standard S26 can narrow the gap, while a higher flagship price can make the FE more appealing.
What does the Galaxy S26 FE cost in the U.S.?
Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 FE on August 27, 2026, with a U.S. starting price of $699.99 for 128GB. Samsung’s U.S. store listed the 256GB version at $799.99 when accessed on October 7, 2026. Those are listed prices, not guaranteed checkout totals; promotions, stock, and retailer offers can change.
The same Samsung store snapshot listed the regular Galaxy S26 at $799.99. That makes the comparison more complicated than “FE costs less”: compare the storage you actually need and the price available when you buy. TechRadar also notes that the price gap is affected by the standard S26 and S26 Plus offering twice the FE’s default storage; check its Galaxy S26 FE coverage for that context.

Samsung’s U.S. specifications describe a large-screen phone with hardware aimed below its flagship tier. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.

Samsung announced Blueberry, Graphite, and Pistachio color options, with 128GB and 256GB storage configurations in the U.S. The 6.7-inch screen is a clear fit for people who value room for video, reading, and multitasking. Buyers who prioritize a compact phone or the fastest available hardware may find the FE’s size and midrange positioning less attractive.
How good are its performance, battery, and cameras?
Performance
Reviews differ in emphasis, but performance is a recurring caveat. Android Central found that the S26 FE performs better than the S25 FE, while also arguing that the standard S26 and less expensive alternatives make the FE’s hardware compromises harder to justify. Tom’s Guide criticized performance relative to the phone’s price. In its own S26 FE test, Tom’s Guide recorded Geekbench 6 scores of 2,444 single-core and 7,958 multi-core; those are results for its test unit, not a promise of what every unit or workload will achieve.
Rank #2
- BIG. BRIGHT. SMOOTH : Enjoy every scroll, swipe and stream on a stunning 6.7” wide display that’s as smooth for scrolling as it is immersive.¹

- SELFIES THAT STUN: Every selfie’s a standout with Galaxy S25 FE. Snap sharp shots and vivid videos thanks to the 12MP selfie camera with ProVisual Engine.
- MOVE IT. REMOVE IT. IMPROVE IT: Generative Edit² on Galaxy S25 FE lets you move, resize and erase distracting elements in your shot. Galaxy AI intuitively recreates every detail so each shot looks exactly the way you envisioned.³
- MORE POWER. LESS PLUGGING IN⁵: Busy day? No worries. Galaxy S25 FE is built with a powerful 4,900mAh battery that’s ready to go the distance⁴. And when you need a top off, Super Fast Charging 2.0⁵ gets you back in action.
Battery and cameras
Tom’s Guide reported good battery life and solid camera quality in its review. Those are reviewer findings, not guarantees for every user: screen brightness, network conditions, camera use, and workload affect real-world results. The hardware includes a dedicated 3x optical-zoom telephoto camera as well as main and ultrawide cameras, giving buyers more camera flexibility than a phone with only wide and ultrawide lenses. The available evidence does not establish a universal winner for low-light photos, video, or sustained battery life.
How long will Samsung support it?
Samsung says the Galaxy S26 FE supports “up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.” That is a meaningful reason to keep the phone longer, but it is Samsung’s stated policy: it does not mean every update arrives at the same time for every region or that every future software feature is guaranteed on this model.

- TYPE IT IN. TRANSFORM IT FAST: Enhance any shot in seconds on your smartphone by using Photo Assist¹ with Galaxy AI.² Add objects, restore details, or apply new styles by simply typing or tapping

Feature availability also matters when comparing it with the S25 FE. SamMobile notes that some newer Galaxy AI features were expected to reach the S25 FE with One UI 9, so the S26 FE’s software features at launch should not automatically be treated as exclusive to the newer phone.
Why do reviews disagree about whether it is a good value?
The reviewers are weighing the phone against different price and competition contexts. Tom’s Guide highlighted battery life, camera quality, and AI features, and considered the S26 FE more appealing after reported price increases across the S26 series. Android Central, WIRED, and SamMobile put more weight on the FE’s compromises, price increase, and limited year-over-year hardware changes. WIRED recalled the S25 FE’s $650 price and said the S26 FE mainly advances the processor while approaching $700.
Rank #4
- The Galaxy S25 FE features a large, immersive Dynamic AMOLED display with smooth refresh rate and enhanced brightness, delivering vivid colors and sharp clarity whether you're streaming, browsing, or using it outdoors.
These positions can coexist: the FE looks better when the regular S26 is expensive at the retailer you are considering, and worse when a discount brings the flagship close to the FE’s price. Android Central’s review also names the Pixel 10a, OnePlus 13R, and Galaxy A57 among alternatives, but this evidence does not establish a consistent current price comparison across retailers. Check live prices and compare equivalent storage before treating any one reviewer’s value verdict as universal.
Who should buy the Galaxy S26 FE?
- It makes sense if you want a 6.7-inch Samsung phone, value the stated long update policy, and are satisfied with midrange performance in exchange for the FE’s camera mix and large display.
- Wait for a discount or compare alternatives if you expect flagship-level performance, need more than 128GB, or the regular Galaxy S26 is available near the FE’s price.
- Compare the S25 FE if it is substantially cheaper and its performance and support meet your needs; the newer phone’s AI features should not be assumed to remain exclusive.
- Check other midrange phones if camera priorities, gaming performance, or price matter more than Samsung’s display and support policy. The named alternatives include the Pixel 10a, OnePlus 13R, and Galaxy A57, but compare current prices, storage, and features directly.
Verdict: Is it worth $700?
The Galaxy S26 FE is a capable large-screen Samsung phone, but at its $699.99 U.S. launch price for 128GB, its value depends on what else costs the same at checkout. Its display, camera hardware, and Samsung’s stated update commitment are compelling for the right buyer; the Exynos-based performance tier and modest changes from the prior FE make it harder to recommend when a discounted S26 is close in price. Treat $700 as a price to compare, not a reason to buy without checking the current 128GB and 256GB offers.
