The Crew Motorfest is worth considering on Nintendo Switch 2 if you want an always-online, open-world driving game set in Hawaii and accept Ubisoft-account and internet requirements. It is not a good fit for offline play, a complete physical cartridge experience, or buyers expecting purchases from another platform to carry over. The base game is the safest choice when you only want the core experience; Deluxe makes sense for its specific cosmetic and fitted-vehicle extras; Headliners is aimed at players who want the three named DLC packs as well. Ubisoft announced the Switch 2 release for October 8, 2026, but a current price comparison, independent performance test and review-based value verdict are not established here.
What you are buying on Switch 2
The Crew Motorfest is an open-world driving game built around Hawaii, themed playlists, player-versus-environment and player-versus-player activities, and a vehicle roster Nintendo describes as containing more than 700 vehicles. The Switch 2 edition is scheduled for October 8, 2026, in both physical retail and Nintendo eShop formats.
That date and feature set do not make this a conventional offline racing purchase. Ubisoft states that an internet connection is required to play, and a Ubisoft account is required. Multiplayer features also require a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Treat those requirements as part of the product, not optional extras.
Recommended Free Tools
- Best match: players with reliable internet who want a broad open world, playlists and online activities.
- Poor match: anyone seeking a game that works on a flight or in another offline situation.
- Physical buyers: the retail release is a Game-Key Card. It is not a complete, self-contained game cartridge; installation requires a download.
- Existing owners: cross-progression is supported, but Ubisoft says purchases made on Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store or Steam do not transfer to Switch 2.
Because no live regional price, discount history or independent Switch 2 performance test is established, “worth it” depends on your requirements and the price you see at purchase time.

Switch 2 specifications and requirements
The following figures come from Ubisoft’s Switch 2 FAQ and Nintendo’s current US product listing. They are publisher or store specifications rather than independent measurements.
| Item | Switch 2 detail | What it means for a buyer |
|---|---|---|
| Release date | October 8, 2026 | Applies to the announced physical Game-Key Card and eShop versions. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p and 30 FPS in TV and handheld modes, according to Ubisoft | This is the official target/specification; it is not an independent frame-rate test. |
| Storage | 58.5 GB game file size on Nintendo’s US listing | Allow sufficient internal or compatible expandable storage for the download and updates. |
| Modes | TV, tabletop and handheld | The same stated 1080p/30 FPS specification covers TV and handheld modes. |
| Local play | Single-system play for one player | The listing does not describe local split-screen multiplayer. |
| Online player count | 1–32 players listed by Nintendo | Online activities can support large sessions, subject to the relevant activity and service availability. |
| Account | Ubisoft account required | You must create or link the account before playing. |
| Internet | Constant internet connection required to play, according to Ubisoft | Do not buy it as an offline-only or permanently disconnected game. |
| Online subscription | Nintendo Switch Online membership required for multiplayer features such as crewing, Grand Race and Demolition Royale | Budget for the subscription if those activities are part of your plan. |
Ubisoft’s FAQ was published around the October 2026 launch and is available in German; the English wording above is a translation of the publisher’s statements. Nintendo’s listing is specifically for the US store, so storage display, prices and regional terms can differ elsewhere.
Physical Game-Key Card versus eShop purchase
Game-Key Card edition
The physical Switch 2 release uses a Game-Key Card. The card authorizes the game, but Ubisoft says a download is required to install it and that constant internet access is required to play. This has several practical consequences:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- You need an internet connection during setup, even though you bought a box and card.
- The card should not be described as an offline preservation copy of the complete game.
- You need enough storage for the 58.5 GB listing and any later updates.
- Borrowing, reselling or replacing the card still leaves the recipient dependent on the download and online service.
A physical copy can still be preferable if you collect boxes, want a retail resale option or find a better local price. Verify the exact regional listing, stock and edition before ordering because those details can change.
Digital eShop edition
The eShop purchase removes the card from the installation process but does not remove Ubisoft’s account or constant-internet requirements. Check your available storage before buying; a 58.5 GB listing leaves less room for saves, patches and other games on a crowded system.

Edition comparison: Base, Deluxe and Headliners
Nintendo’s US listings identify three useful buying levels. The sources do not establish a standard price premium or a guaranteed value advantage for either bundle, so compare the live price with the content you actually want.

| Base game | The Crew Motorfest | Players who want the core game and may decide about extras later. | It is the cleanest way to avoid paying for packs you may never use. |
| Deluxe Edition | Base game plus the Fitted Ultimate Pack: Fitted Rainbow and Fitted Jungle packs. Nintendo also lists a 2021 Honda Civic Type R Fitted Edition, a 2021 Porsche 718 Spyder Fitted Edition, avatar outfit packs, an underglow vanity and unique rims. | Players specifically interested in those fitted cosmetics, vehicles and appearance items. | The available information does not prove that the bundle is cheaper than buying desired items separately. |
| Headliners Edition | Base game, Tomb Raider Pack, Chase Squad Pack, RC Frenzy Pack, Fitted Rainbow Pack and Fitted Jungle Pack. | Players who want all three named gameplay/content packs plus the fitted packs. | Compare the live bundle price with the base game and only the packs you would otherwise purchase. |
How to choose without overpaying
- Decide whether you want only the open-world base game. If yes, start with Base.
- List the exact cosmetics or fitted vehicles you want. If the list is limited to Fitted Rainbow and Fitted Jungle, inspect Deluxe’s price rather than assuming every extra has value to you.
- Choose Headliners only when Tomb Raider, Chase Squad and RC Frenzy are all meaningful to you, or when the bundle price is favorable against the individual content you would buy.
- Do not count content purchased on another platform as a Switch 2 discount. Ubisoft says those purchases do not transfer.
Switch 2 DLC and season availability
Ubisoft says the following were available on Switch 2 from release: Year 1 Pass, Year 2 Pass, Year 3 Pass, Chase Squad, RC Frenzy and Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni’ihau. The same FAQ says the Year 4 Pass and vehicle packs were not available at launch, with possible later availability to be announced. Those are launch-era statements, so check the current Nintendo and Ubisoft listings before purchasing a pass.

What Season 11 and the Tomb Raider pack add
Season 11 began on October 7, 2026. Ubisoft describes a free Kauai island and a Kauai Expeditions playlist, along with wildlife, special events and winch/towing features. The premium Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni’ihau pack was developed with Crystal Dynamics and includes a playlist, a new island and five exclusive vehicles, according to Ubisoft’s season coverage.
The free island and the premium playable experience are not the same thing. Ubisoft states that seeing the island does not itself grant access to the playable DLC experience. If the Tomb Raider content is your reason for choosing Headliners, verify that the pack is attached to the edition or account you are buying.

Online, account and cross-platform limitations
Persistent online access
Ubisoft’s announcement uses direct wording: “An online connection is required to play the game.” This affects solo as well as multiplayer plans. A solo player still needs the service connection and Ubisoft account, so poor home broadband, travel without reliable tethering or a preference for archival offline games are strong reasons to skip the purchase.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Nintendo Switch Online
Nintendo lists Nintendo Switch Online support, while Ubisoft specifies that an NSO membership is needed for multiplayer features including crewing, Grand Race and Demolition Royale. The membership requirement is separate from the Ubisoft account and internet connection.
Cross-progression is not cross-buy
Ubisoft supports cross-progression, allowing supported progress to continue across platforms. It does not transfer purchases made on Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store or Steam to Switch 2. In practical terms, your progression may follow you while DLC, vehicles or other paid entitlements bought elsewhere may need to be purchased again for Switch 2.
No full crossplay
Ubisoft says there is no full crossplay. Selected activities and leaderboards are shared across platforms, and TrackForge creations can be available across platforms. That is narrower than placing every Switch 2 player in every activity with players on every other system. If playing with a specific friend group is essential, confirm that the activity they use is one of the supported shared features.
No The Crew 2 collection import
The Crew 2 vehicle collection import feature is unavailable on Switch 2. Do not assume that an established garage from that game will automatically populate your Switch 2 Motorfest account.

Who should buy it?
Buy the base game when
- You want to explore Hawaii, try playlists and sample the core activities before committing to add-ons.
- You accept the constant-internet and Ubisoft-account requirements.
- You are comfortable with the officially stated 1080p/30 FPS specification.
- You do not need purchases from another platform to transfer.
Choose Deluxe when
- The Fitted Rainbow and Fitted Jungle packs are the extras you actually want.
- The listed Honda Civic Type R and Porsche 718 Spyder fitted editions, avatar outfits, underglow and rims matter more to you than additional gameplay packs.
- The live price is reasonable compared with the base game plus the specific cosmetics you would otherwise buy.
Choose Headliners when
- You want Tomb Raider, Chase Squad and RC Frenzy, as well as the two fitted packs.
- You have confirmed that all included content is available in your region at purchase.
- The bundle price is better than buying the base game and only the named packs you want.
Skip or wait when
- You need offline play or a complete game on the physical card.
- You are buying primarily to continue a garage purchased on another platform.
- You require full crossplay with friends.
- You are unwilling to accept 30 FPS until independent testing or later updates establish a different experience.
- The current price is high enough that the included extras do not justify it for you.
Pre-purchase and first-install checklist
- Confirm the platform listing. Make sure the product is the Nintendo Switch 2 version, not a different console edition.
- Check the edition name. Base, Deluxe and Headliners have different inclusions; read the exact regional listing rather than relying on a retailer thumbnail.
- Check storage. Nintendo lists 58.5 GB for the game. Leave room for updates and other system data.
- Plan the connection. A stable internet connection is required for play, including the initial download for a Game-Key Card.
- Create or verify a Ubisoft account. Link it to the Nintendo account you intend to use before troubleshooting gameplay access.
- Budget for Nintendo Switch Online. You need it for the multiplayer features Ubisoft names, in addition to internet access.
- Check DLC transfer assumptions. Purchases on Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store and Steam do not transfer to Switch 2.
- Review current availability. Recheck Year 4 Pass and vehicle-pack status because Ubisoft described them as unavailable at launch and subject to a later announcement.
- Install and update. For the physical edition, insert the Game-Key Card, start the required download and allow updates to finish before judging access.
- Test the account connection early. If the game cannot authenticate, resolve the Ubisoft or Nintendo account link while retailer return windows and support options are still available.
Common buying mistakes and fixes
“The cartridge should work offline.”
Why it happens: the box and card look like a traditional cartridge release. Fix: treat the card as a Game-Key Card that requires a download and constant internet access. Buy it only if that arrangement suits you.
“My PC or console DLC will appear on Switch 2.”
Why it happens: cross-progression sounds like cross-buy. Fix: separate progress from entitlements. Ubisoft supports supported progress across platforms but says purchases made on the listed non-Switch platforms do not transfer.
“Crossplay means every activity is shared.”
Why it happens: shared leaderboards and selected activities can be mistaken for full crossplay. Fix: verify the exact activity; Ubisoft says full crossplay is not supported.
“The free Kauai island includes the premium Tomb Raider campaign.”
Why it happens: both are promoted with Season 11. Fix: the island’s presence does not grant access to the playable premium DLC experience; confirm ownership of the Tomb Raider pack.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute“The official frame-rate figure is an independent performance review.”
Why it happens: store pages often present specifications without test conditions. Fix: Ubisoft’s stated 1080p/30 FPS figure is the available specification, not a hands-on test of frame pacing, resolution scaling or every activity.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
How to make the final value decision
Use the live price in your region and score the purchase against four filters:
- Access: Can you provide constant internet access and a Ubisoft account whenever you want to play?
- Hardware expectations: Are you satisfied with the publisher’s 1080p/30 FPS specification in both TV and handheld modes?
- Content: Which of the included packs, vehicles and cosmetics would you genuinely use?
- Continuity: Do you need full crossplay, The Crew 2 collection import or DLC purchased elsewhere? Switch 2 does not provide those features as described above.
If the answer to the first two filters is no, a cheaper bundle cannot solve the mismatch. If the answers are yes, Base minimizes commitment, Deluxe is a targeted cosmetics purchase, and Headliners is the broadest launch bundle. Recalculate when discounts appear, because no fixed price or permanent value ranking is established.
Bottom line for Switch 2 buyers
The Crew Motorfest is a conditional buy rather than an automatic recommendation. It offers a large Hawaii setting, more than 700 listed vehicles, online activities and an expanding seasonal structure, but it also requires constant internet access, a Ubisoft account and— for multiplayer features—Nintendo Switch Online. The physical release is a download-dependent Game-Key Card, and Switch 2 does not inherit paid content from other platforms.
