The CHiQ CRTM212R is a 216 L red retro-style top-mount refrigerator with a compact footprint and a small freezer. It may suit a kitchen where appearance and modest capacity matter, but its published specifications do not establish how well it cools or how reliably it performs. CHOICE lists a 2021 test year, while the detailed test scores are available only to members on its review page.
What the CHiQ CRTM212R offers
This is a two-door, top-mount fridge: the refrigerator compartment sits below the freezer. Its 216 L total capacity places it in CHOICE’s extra-small category, defined as under 300 L. The red retro styling is its most distinctive design feature; the capacity is better suited to a small household or a secondary fridge than to buyers who need substantial fresh-food or freezer space.
Published capacity figures differ slightly by source. CHOICE lists 152 L for the refrigerator and 64 L for the freezer, while Appliances Online and Andoo list 154 L and 62 L, respectively. Both splits add up to 216 L, but the available listings do not explain the discrepancy.
Will it fit your kitchen?
Appliances Online lists the appliance itself at 1,529 mm high × 540 mm wide × 627 mm deep, with a listed weight of 47 kg. Those are body dimensions, not the space to reserve around the fridge. CHOICE gives recommended installation dimensions of 158 cm high × 64 cm wide × 72 cm deep. Use the larger installation allowance when checking the intended location, and confirm the delivery route and the exact requirements in the manual for your unit.

Layout and listed features
The retailer and specification listings describe frost-free operation, multi-air-flow, an interior LED light, a humidity-control crisper, tempered-glass shelves and a rotating or twist ice tray. The manual transcription for the CRTM213B, CRTM212R and CRTM211C also identifies a freezer shelf, rotating ice box, glass shelves, wine rack, crisper cover and crisper, adjustable feet, freezer racks and door racks. These are documented design and feature claims, not independent evidence of cooling performance.
Retailer listings specify no water dispenser, a right-hand hinge and a door that is not reversible. Check the hinge orientation against your kitchen before considering a unit, because the available material does not describe an option to switch it.

Energy information and what the review establishes
CHOICE lists a 3.5-star energy rating and claimed consumption of 265 kWh per year, alongside a 2021 test year. These are published figures, not a measurement of your likely household electricity use; actual costs depend on usage and electricity rates. CHOICE’s accessible listing also shows $1,099 in its 2021 test-year context, which is historical listing information rather than a current price.

The accessible CHOICE page does not show the detailed expert rating or performance results without member access. That includes temperature stability, evenness, temperature range, response to outside temperature, default setting, heat-load processing, running-cost information, reliability, satisfaction and recommendation. The available specifications and retailer-hosted customer feedback cannot fill in those results, so they do not support a verdict on food preservation or long-term reliability.

CHOICE marks the CRTM212R as discontinued, and Andoo states that it is no longer available. That does not prove that every remaining or second-hand unit has disappeared, but it does mean availability should be checked directly before making plans to buy. Retailer pages may remain visible after a product is unavailable; confirm that a listing is for this exact model and can actually be purchased.
