The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is a customizable foam-and-coil mattress, but its three firmness choices do not make it a sure fit for every sleeper. Independent testing found useful pressure relief for some side sleepers and very good motion dissipation, while raising support concerns for many back and stomach sleepers and a potential durability issue. The tested mattress was labeled Soft but felt medium to the testers, so those results should not be treated as a verdict on every firmness or the optional Cloud Pillow Top.
What is the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid?
It is a hybrid mattress built with foam layers over an encased-coil support core. Brooklyn Bedding lists Soft, Medium, and Firm versions, plus an optional Cloud Pillow Top. That flexibility gives buyers choices, but the available independent test evidence covers only one configuration.
The standard model is listed at 13.25 inches tall; the pillow-top version is 14 inches. The standard construction description includes a GlacioTex cooling cover, quilt foam, gel-swirl memory foam, responsive foam, transition foam, an 8-inch Ascension X encased-coil core with up to 760 coils, and a base foam layer. How does it perform in independent testing?
RTINGS tested a unit labeled Signature Soft, but reported that it felt like a medium mattress. Its findings therefore describe that sample, not every listed firmness or the optional pillow top. AARP Smart Picks reports lab testing three Brooklyn Bedding mattresses, queen size unless otherwise noted. It says the Signature Hybrid received above-average pressure-relief and spinal-alignment ratings and includes it as a value choice in a back-pain mattress list. That is AARP’s assessment and category framing, not medical guidance or evidence that the mattress will relieve an individual’s pain. Which firmness should you choose?
The available evidence does not identify one best firmness for everyone. Start with your sleep position and the feel you prefer, then treat test results as useful but configuration-specific guidance. In particular, RTINGS’ Soft-labeled sample felt medium to its testers, and the source does not establish performance for all current versions.
- If you mainly sleep on your side: The tested unit’s pressure relief is encouraging, including for average and heavier sleepers. It does not establish that all firmness options will feel equally relieving.
- If you mainly sleep on your back or stomach: Take RTINGS’ support warning seriously, especially if you are an average or heavier sleeper. A firmer selection may seem like a logical choice, but the cited test does not verify that a different firmness resolves the concern.
- If you are considering the Cloud Pillow Top: It adds height and foam layers, but the cited independent findings do not establish its performance.
- If you share the bed: The tested unit’s very good motion dissipation is a positive sign, though no result can promise that a partner will not feel movement.
What are the trial, return, and warranty terms?
Brooklyn Bedding advertises a 120-night comfort trial. Its FAQ says the trial starts when the mattress is received, but a return cannot be initiated until 30 days after delivery. The FAQ lists a $99 return fee, says the comfort trial may be used once, excludes clearance items from returns and exchanges, and says the company will help arrange pickup and disposal. The product page advertises a limited lifetime warranty. AARP summarizes the warranty as providing full defect coverage for 10 years, but that summary does not spell out all exclusions, claim requirements, or later-year terms. What foundation does it need?
Brooklyn Bedding specifies a solid foundation with minimal to no flex. It lists slatted wood or metal bases with slats no more than five inches apart, box foundations, and solid platforms as compatible. Is the price worth it?
Brooklyn Bedding’s listed retail and promotional prices can change, and the total depends on size and configuration. The company cautions that a strike-through suggested retail price may not previously have been offered by it or another retailer. Check the price at checkout for the exact size, firmness, and pillow-top choice rather than treating a displayed discount as a stable reference point. The evidence here does not establish a single current all-in price.

The Signature Hybrid is worth considering if you want a foam-and-coil mattress with three listed firmness choices and an optional pillow top, and if its return conditions work for you. The most encouraging independent result is pressure relief for some side sleepers; motion dissipation also tested well. The main cautions are RTINGS’ support concerns for many back and stomach sleepers, its durability concern, and the fact that its tested sample does not represent every option. Compare the exact configuration, your sleep position, and the current trial and warranty terms before deciding.
