The ASUS ZenScreen OLED MQ16FC makes a strong portable second screen if you value OLED color, a taller-than-16:9 workspace, and flexible positioning more than high refresh rates or built-in audio. Its 16-inch, 1920 × 1200 panel runs at up to 60 Hz; the monitor weighs 0.68 kg (1.50 lb), and combines an integrated kickstand with a 1/4-inch tripod socket. Its main compromises are a glossy screen, limited brightness in some settings, and no speakers.
What you get for a portable second screen
The MQ16FC is built around a 16-inch OLED panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio. That extra vertical room compared with a 16:9 screen can make documents, web pages, and application panels more comfortable to work with side by side. The 1920 × 1200 resolution is practical at this size, though it is not the high-resolution choice for buyers seeking a sharper image or a premium laptop-screen match.
ASUS lists 95% DCI-P3 color coverage, 300 cd/m² typical brightness, 100,000:1 typical contrast, a 1 ms GtG response time, and a maximum refresh rate of 60 Hz. OLED contrast and color are the appeal here; the 60 Hz ceiling makes this a work-oriented portable display rather than a high-refresh gaming monitor.

How bright is the screen, and what does it look like?
ASUS’s 300 cd/m² typical-brightness rating and Tom’s Hardware’s lower Standard-mode result describe different things: the rating is the manufacturer’s specification, while the review reports measurements in particular picture modes. Tom’s Hardware measured 140 nits in Standard mode and 271 nits after switching to User Mode. Those figures are specific to that reviewer’s test method and settings, not a guarantee of the same result on every unit.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The display’s glossy surface can make reflections more noticeable in bright rooms or near windows. If you regularly work outdoors or under strong overhead lighting, that finish and the measured brightness are meaningful trade-offs to weigh against OLED color and contrast.
Tom’s Hardware also measured 153.2% DCI-P3 and 216.2% sRGB coverage. These are the reviewer’s coverage results, not ASUS’s rated gamut figures, and coverage percentages alone do not establish color accuracy or replace a calibrated-display assessment. The review praised the color and aluminum construction, while flagging brightness as a limitation.

Will it connect to your laptop, and can it charge it?
The MQ16FC has two USB-C ports that support DisplayPort Alt Mode, plus mini-HDMI. A USB-C connection can carry video only when the connected source supports video output over USB-C; the monitor’s port specification does not establish compatibility with every laptop, phone, or console. For a laptop without compatible USB-C video, mini-HDMI is another video input, but the host and cable still need to support the connection you intend to use.
ASUS lists power pass-through of up to 65 W, and its Singapore store describes two-way power pass-through. That is a monitor capability, not a promise that every laptop will receive 65 W—or charge at all—through this setup. The result depends on the host’s USB-C capabilities, power requirements, and the connected power adapter and cables. Check your computer’s documentation before relying on a single-cable display-and-charging arrangement.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

There are no built-in speakers. Audio needs to come from the laptop or another audio device; the monitor does provide a headphone jack.
Is it practical to carry and position?
At 0.68 kg, the monitor is light enough to make sense as a travel companion, and its listed thickness is 0.9 cm. Tom’s Hardware describes an aluminum enclosure and an integrated kickstand. Rubber feet support portrait orientation, while the 1/4-inch socket allows tripod mounting for setups where a desk stand is inconvenient.

ASUS Singapore describes auto rotation through DisplayWidget Center. That is a regional store feature description; do not assume the same software availability or behavior for every operating system and market without checking ASUS’s local support information.
ASUS lists two USB-C cables, a power adapter, a mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable, a sleeve, a tripod socket kit, and a microfiber cloth among the package contents on its Singapore store and Japanese regional specification page. Included accessories can differ by market or exact model suffix, so confirm the box contents for the listing you are buying rather than treating these items as universal.

Who should choose it—and who should look elsewhere?
It makes sense if you want
- An OLED portable display with strong contrast and broad rated DCI-P3 coverage for general work and media.
- A 16:10 second screen that gives apps and websites more vertical space than a 16:9 portable display.
- A lightweight screen with both a built-in kickstand and tripod mounting option.
- A 60 Hz display for productivity, travel, and casual use rather than high-refresh gaming.
Consider another type of portable monitor if you need
- Higher refresh rates or a higher resolution than 60 Hz and 1920 × 1200.
- Built-in speakers or a matte surface for a more reflection-resistant workspace.
- Brightness that is more dependable in strong ambient light; the mode-dependent review measurements make it worth evaluating your lighting conditions.
- Long-term certainty about OLED burn-in. Techzine Global noted during its review that protection against burn-in can only be judged over time; the available review does not establish that burn-in cannot occur.
Techzine Global identifies the ASUS MB16NCG as a 16-inch 16:10 alternative with higher resolution and refresh rate and 65 W pass-through, but without OLED. It also names the battery-equipped, 16:9 MB16AMTR. These are useful trade-offs to investigate, not a complete market comparison or a current ranking; the cited review does not provide enough comparable details here to establish a full specification or price table.
Price, warranty, and regional differences
Prices and terms are regional snapshots, not a universal current offer. When accessed in 2026, the ASUS Singapore store showed S$469 including GST and a three-year warranty. Techzine Global referenced €279 in its 2026 review context. Tom’s Hardware’s US review showed offers from multiple retailers. These listings come from different markets and points of sale, so they should not be compared as though they share a region, date, warranty, or package.
ASUS’s cited Japanese specification page is for the MQ16FC-J, and specifications or package contents may vary by model suffix and market. ASUS cautions that availability and specifications can change. Check the exact model, local warranty, condition, stock, and included accessories with the seller before purchase.

The MQ16FC is a well-rounded portable OLED for people who want a color-rich, 16:10 second screen they can carry and position in more than one way. Its portability, kickstand, and tripod socket are compelling; its 60 Hz limit, glossy panel, lack of speakers, and brightness trade-offs make it a less universal fit. Choose it when OLED and workspace matter more than maximum speed, audio convenience, or glare control.
