Its manufacturer specification sheet gives 14 programs, 44 dB(A) noise, 13 L water use per wash and estimated annual energy use of 314 kWh. Those are listed specifications, not independent test results: CHOICE’s public page hides its cleaning and drying scores. If you are considering one, verify the exact model suffix, cabinet fit, remaining stock, warranty and service options before committing.
What the Asko D5896 SSXXL is
CHOICE identifies the D5896 SSXXL as a built-in dishwasher and marks it discontinued. Its listed finish is stainless steel, and it can connect to a hot or cold water tap; the maximum hot-water inlet temperature shown is 70°C. These are appliance dimensions, not a confirmed cabinet-niche measurement: measure the opening and check the exact unit’s installation documentation before buying, particularly if the dishwasher is replacing another model.

Check the rating label to confirm the complete model code is D5896 SSXXL. An installation or operating document for a related suffix does not by itself establish the correct niche, electrical connection or plumbing requirements for this Australian variant.

Water, energy and noise figures
The Australian specification sheet lists 13 L per wash, estimated annual energy consumption of 314 kWh, and noise of 44 dB(A). CHOICE also lists 13 L water use and 314 kWh/year as claimed figures, along with a 3.5-star energy rating and 5-star water rating. Do not confuse those Australian figures with a manufacturer-hosted European energy sheet for D5896XXLFI. That different suffix and market sheet lists 236 kWh/year, 2,646 L/year, 0.83 kWh per standard cycle, a 225-minute standard program, 14 place settings and 41 dB(A). What the available review can—and cannot—tell you
CHOICE’s publicly visible page identifies the model and lists specifications, but it gates its expert rating and wash and dry test scores behind membership. It also does not publicly show the model’s energy-efficiency score, independently measured consumption, noise result, program time or year tested. As a result, the accessible material does not support a verdict on the D5896 SSXXL’s cleaning or drying performance. Do not infer test outcomes from manufacturer specifications or the listed star ratings.
If you are comparing dishwashers, look beyond place settings and nominal consumption. Check the installation opening, rack flexibility, noise, cycle choices, warranty and local service availability, as well as independent cleaning and drying results.
