What can you conclude about the D5894 SSXXL?
It is a discontinued built-in dishwasher. CHOICE marks the model “Discontinued model,” and an ASKO Russia dealer listing also identifies the D5894 XXL FI as discontinued. The dealer says its displayed price was valid at the last sale, so it should not be read as a current price or evidence of present availability. CHOICE’s model record and the dealer listing support the status, but neither establishes current stock.
The available public evidence supports a specification summary, not a performance verdict. CHOICE’s public page identifies a Normal 60°C test program, but does not expose its expert rating, wash and dry scores, measured energy or water use, noise, cycle time, reliability, satisfaction, or year tested. Its positive and negative points are also member-only. Without those results, it would be misleading to call the dishwasher either a strong performer or a poor one.

CHOICE lists 15 place settings, a stainless-steel finish, dimensions of 86 × 60 × 55 cm, a two-year warranty, and Sweden as the country of origin. The public record does not display a publication or test year for these figures. Use the dimensions as a broad reference, not a substitute for the installation instructions for your exact regional model and the actual cabinet opening.

Will it fit your kitchen?
The D5894 SSXXL is a panel-integrated dishwasher, so both the appliance opening and the front-panel arrangement matter. The available North American installation instructions for the D5894XXLFI give an adjustable height of 860–914 mm and a width of 600 mm. They specify a depth of 22 7/8 inches including the high loop and describe a custom or accessory front panel, with separate instructions for attaching that panel.

Those are North American variant figures, not universal dimensions for every D5894 SSXXL sold worldwide. The installation guide also groups D5894XXLFI with other XXL models, but that family grouping does not make every suffix interchangeable. Check the exact model suffix, local installation sheet, nameplate, opening, panel dimensions, and required clearances before buying or arranging installation. The D5894XXLFI installation instructions are the source for the North American measurements.
What the manuals indicate about loading and care
The D5894 operating material describes upper, middle, and lower baskets, an extra cutlery basket, and an interior light. These are manual-specific details; the instructions caution that specifications can vary by model and market. A manual transcription also warns against placing certain plastic items in a marked area of the lower basket because heat can damage them. What to check before buying a discontinued unit
- Identify the full model and region. Compare the suffix on the rating plate with the listing and manual. In particular, do not assume North American electrical or cabinet specifications apply elsewhere.
- Measure the installation. Check the cabinet opening and the custom or accessory panel requirements against the matching installation sheet.
- Confirm condition and support. For a used or remaining-stock appliance, establish its condition, applicable warranty, and local service or parts availability directly with the seller or service provider.
- Ask for comparable test evidence. If performance matters, seek independent wash, dry, energy, water, noise, and cycle-time results for the exact model. The accessible CHOICE record does not provide those results.

The D5894 SSXXL’s published specifications give a useful starting point for checking capacity and broad fit, but the public review evidence is insufficient to assess washing, drying, efficiency, or noise. Because it is discontinued, a purchase decision should turn on exact-variant fit, condition, and support in your market—and on obtaining reliable performance evidence rather than inferring it from the visible specification sheet.
