The Valor model is an empty bag that accepts loose fill; Hyperwear’s system uses removable prefilled weights. Hyperwear advises avoiding abrasive surfaces and sharp objects for its product. Does a sandbag suit functional fitness at home?
A sandbag can support lifts, carries and other movements that require handling a shifting load. CrossFit’s 2008 article describes floor lifts, shouldering, cleans, holds and carries, and notes that the moving load and changing grip distinguish a sandbag from a barbell. That is general practitioner guidance, not a guarantee of results or a universal training prescription.

For a home workout, consider whether you have enough clear space to lift, carry and set the bag down under control. The two reported handles on the Ludus model offer fewer grip positions than the seven handles on Valor’s SDB-7 or the multiple handles described for Hyperwear’s system; whether that matters depends on the exercises you intend to perform.

Capacity is the maximum a bag is designed to hold, not a recommended starting workout weight. CrossFit’s article says load depends on the person’s fitness and experience, the exercise, goals and repetitions. Choose a load you can control for the movement you plan to practice; do not treat the 50 lb, 100 lb or 150 lb capacity label as a training recommendation.

Begin with controlled movements and leave clear space to lower the bag. The cited material does not establish that sandbag training prevents injury or produces better results than other training.
What do you need to fill an empty workout sandbag?
You need compatible filler, and the featured product is reported to include an inner filler bag but no sand. Check the exact product instructions for permitted material, how to seal or contain it, and any filling limits before buying. Do not assume that sand or another loose material is suitable just because it is used in a different brand’s bag. For example, Valor’s manufacturer page specifically lists sand or rubber crumb for the SDB-7; that does not establish compatibility with the Ludus model.
