Suncorp’s current top-level Extras product is called Top Extras, not Comprehensive Extras. Suncorp describes it as its most comprehensive Extras option and advertises 75% back on eligible treatment, but annual and service limits, waiting periods, provider rules and out-of-pocket charges mean it will not necessarily pay 75% of every bill. The limits below come from a Suncorp Health Insurance fact sheet current as at 2 June 2025, so check the current Product Information and your quote before deciding.
What Suncorp Top Extras covers
Top Extras is an Extras policy for eligible out-of-hospital services. It is not Hospital cover, so do not assume it pays for in-hospital treatment or that Extras-only cover meets any hospital-cover requirement. Suncorp’s current comparison page lists four Extras levels—Starter, Everyday, Mid and Top—and says Starter, Everyday and Mid return 60% up to annual limits, while Top returns 75%, subject to its terms. See Suncorp’s Extras comparison.
The Top Extras fact sheet lists a broad set of services, including dental, optical, physiotherapy, chiropractic and osteopathy, natural therapies, psychology, hearing aids, health aids and health-management benefits. It also lists speech pathology, podiatry, orthotics, eye therapy, dietary advice, home nursing, occupational therapy, antenatal and postnatal services, non-PBS prescriptions and preventative tests. The eligible service, benefit rules and limits differ by category; the advertised 75% rate should not be treated as a uniform payout for every item.

How much can you get back?
The following are annual or lifetime limits stated by nib health funds limited in its Top Extras fact sheet, current as at 2 June 2025. They are insurer-published product limits, not independently measured estimates, and should not be assumed to be unchanged in 2026.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Service or benefit | Limit stated in the 2 June 2025 fact sheet |
|---|---|
| General dental | $1,000 annual limit; examples include fillings and basic extractions. |
| Major dental | $1,200 annual limit; examples include root canal therapy, crowns, bridges, dentures and oral surgery. |
| Orthodontia | $800 starting limit, increasing by $100 per calendar year to a $2,600 lifetime limit. |
| Optical | $300 annual limit for items such as prescription glasses and contact lenses; appliance limits apply. |
| Physiotherapy | $500 annual limit. |
| Chiropractic and osteopathy | $450 annual limit. |
| Natural therapies | $400 annual limit; remedial massage is capped at $200. Listed consultations include remedial massage, acupuncture, Chinese herbalism and myotherapy. |
| Psychology | $400 annual limit; up to $150 for digital cognitive behavioural therapy at contracted providers. |
| Hearing aids and speech processors | $1,200 annual limit; appliance limits apply. |
| Health aids | $500 annual limit; examples include a nebuliser, peak flow meter, CPAP machine or parts, walking frame and blood-pressure monitor. Appliance limits apply. |
| Health management and healthier lifestyle | $200 annual limit for listed approved programs such as weight management, quit smoking and health management, with gym and personal trainer examples. |
These are caps on eligible benefits, not promises of cash back at those amounts. For a covered service, the fact sheet describes a 75% reimbursement rate subject to annual and service limits. The amount actually payable depends on the eligible charge, policy rules, provider recognition, waiting periods and remaining limits; Suncorp says members may still have out-of-pocket expenses. Review the Top Extras fact sheet and the current Product Information for service-specific terms.
Waiting periods to check
The same fact sheet, current as at 2 June 2025, lists these product-specific waiting periods. Confirm them against current Product Information before booking treatment, as terms may change.

The policy booklet says no benefit is payable for treatment received during an applicable waiting period. It also explains that a member moving from another fund may have served waiting periods recognised for equivalent services. A new wait may still apply to services not previously covered, higher benefits, or any waiting time not yet served; Extras limits already used can also reduce what remains after the transfer. Read the Suncorp Health Insurance Policy Booklet, effective 1 July 2026, alongside the relevant Product Information.

To claim, the service must be included in your product and the provider must be recognised by the insurer. The booklet describes the First Choice network as dental, optical and physiotherapy providers that offer agreed fees or discounts for specified services. Ask the practitioner when booking whether they are recognised and whether the specific service has an applicable network arrangement.

A no-gap arrangement may be available for some eligible services, but it is conditional: you must have the relevant cover, have served any waiting period and have enough annual limit remaining. It is not a guarantee that every appointment or bill will be fully covered. The booklet also says that, for Extras treatment, normally only the consultation cost is covered unless stated otherwise, and it sets rules for multiple services in one consultation and one recognised-provider visit per day.
Before committing to expensive dental work or another major treatment, ask Suncorp and the provider to confirm the service is covered, the provider is recognised, the waiting period is served, how much limit remains and what you are likely to pay yourself. This is especially important where a treatment plan includes several separate items or appointments.

Who may find Top Extras useful?
Top Extras is most relevant to someone whose expected, eligible use spans services included in the policy and who values the higher advertised reimbursement rate enough to consider its limits and price. Its breadth may be useful if you expect to claim across several categories, but a broad list of benefits does not mean every expense is covered or that you will use enough of the available limits to justify your premium.

For each service you expect to use, check whether it is covered, its annual or sub-limit, the waiting period, whether your provider is recognised and the amount you would still pay. How Top Extras compares with Suncorp’s other levels
Suncorp’s comparison page identifies Starter, Everyday, Mid and Top. It states that the first three return 60% up to annual limits and Top returns 75%; it describes the lower levels as differing in covered-service breadth and limits. The exact mix matters as much as the percentage: compare the categories you will use and the relevant limits in the current Product Information, rather than assuming the lower levels are interchangeable or that Top is automatically the best fit.
Who issues the policy?
The Top Extras fact sheet says Suncorp Health Insurance is issued by nib health funds limited, a registered private health insurer, and marketed by Platform CoVentures Pty Ltd, a Suncorp Group company and authorised agent of nib. It also states that Platform CoVentures receives commission from nib. The fact sheet’s product details are dated 2 June 2025 and may change; the general policy booklet is effective 1 July 2026.
