It could be either, but the available evidence does not establish that SanDisk is undervalued. As of October 12, 2026, the latest cited close was $1,692.42 on October 7—10% below the September 22 one-month closing high. SanDisk’s FY2026 results were exceptionally strong, but its business is exposed to NAND pricing cycles and execution risks. The October 7 pullback alone cannot distinguish a buying opportunity from a warning.
How far had SanDisk stock fallen?
Trefis reported that SanDisk (SNDK) closed at $1,692.42 on October 7, 2026, down 10% from its one-month closing high of $1,887.04 on September 22. These are dated figures, not a live October 12 quote.
The scale of the earlier rise is important context. SanDisk’s October 2026 proxy statement reported that its stock price increased 3,600% from FY2025 year-end through FY2026 year-end, compared with a 21% rise for the S&P 500 over that period. A 10% pullback after such a large gain does not, by itself, make a stock cheap.
What do SanDisk’s latest reported results show?
In its August 5, 2026 results release, SanDisk reported FY2026 revenue of $20.25 billion, up 175% year over year, and GAAP net income of $11.43 billion. Fiscal Q4 revenue was $8.965 billion, 51% higher than in Q3. The company attributed its performance to higher pricing and a shift toward higher-value customers, including growth in data-center revenue.

Management’s Q1 FY2027 guidance was revenue of $10.30 billion to $10.80 billion and diluted non-GAAP EPS of $44 to $46. Those are forecasts, not reported results; non-GAAP EPS should not be confused with the FY2026 GAAP net income figure.
SanDisk also said it had signed five additional New Business Model agreements since its April call: three with new customers and two expansions. CEO David Goeckeler characterized the year by saying, “We closed fiscal 2026 with a leading technology portfolio, established datacenter as a key growth pillar, and deepened our customer partnerships.” That is management’s description of the business, not independent evidence that growth or margins will persist.

What supports the bargain case—and what weakens it?
The strongest case for seeing the decline as an opportunity is that it followed substantial reported revenue growth, rising quarterly sales, and management guidance for another large quarter. New customer agreements and emphasis on data-center demand could support further growth if they translate into profitable, repeatable business.

In an October 7 company post, SanDisk VP of Market Intelligence Eric Cherrstrom projected 1.2 zettabytes of flash unit shipments in 2026 and said data centers accounted for 50% of flash bits at that time. These are company-attributed market figures, not a guarantee of SanDisk’s sales, market share, or profit.

The warning case is that strong results and guidance may reflect favorable conditions that do not last. SanDisk identifies NAND demand and average selling prices, competition, technology transitions, manufacturing and supply-chain execution, strategic-partner dependence, customer changes, and deployment timing as factors that can affect results. As an inference from those disclosed cyclical and execution risks, weaker pricing or supply catching up with demand could pressure estimates and valuation even if demand remains substantial.
SanDisk’s FY2026 results and Q1 guidance do not answer how earnings would look across a less favorable NAND pricing cycle. The company’s August 2026 Investor Day presented a long-term strategy and financial model, but the materials described here do not establish that future customer agreements or market growth will deliver durable returns to shareholders.

Does the October 7 valuation make the shares look cheap?
Trefis put SanDisk’s trailing earnings multiple at about 21.8 on October 7, compared with about 21.5 for the S&P 500. That source-reported comparison does not show a clear discount to the broad index, and it is not an estimate of intrinsic value. More importantly, a trailing multiple uses earnings already recorded; it does not show what earnings might be after NAND prices or supply conditions change.

The cited figures do not establish a normalized multiple through a full NAND cycle, a forecast-consensus valuation, or a discounted-cash-flow value. Without those measures, the near-match to the S&P 500 multiple cannot settle whether SNDK is a bargain.

What should investors watch next?
SanDisk’s news-release listing scheduled its next quarterly report for October 29, 2026, after the October 12 information cutoff. That release could change the picture by replacing guidance with reported results and giving investors a new update on demand, pricing, and execution.
- Compare realized revenue and earnings with the Q1 FY2027 guidance, keeping GAAP results separate from non-GAAP measures.
- Look for evidence that data-center demand and higher-value customer mix are contributing to profitable growth, rather than relying on broad flash-market projections alone.
- Assess whether NAND pricing and supply conditions support current earnings, and whether manufacturing, technology transitions, strategic relationships, and customer deployments are on track.
- When judging valuation, use a clearly dated share price and specify whether the earnings basis is trailing, forecast, or normalized across a cycle.
On the evidence available at the October 12 cutoff, the fall is a measurable pullback—not proof of either mispricing or deteriorating fundamentals. The bargain case depends on whether strong earnings can endure beyond favorable NAND conditions; the warning case gains force if results or outlook point to weaker pricing or execution. The scheduled October 29 report was the next major test.
