No verified PlayStation announcement in the available material sets a hard deadline for GTA V fans. It does not confirm that GTA V is leaving PlayStation, that GTA Online is shutting down, or that players must migrate or take any other action before GTA 6 arrives. The headline does not identify what is supposedly expiring, so treat any claimed cutoff as unverified until PlayStation or Rockstar publishes a specific notice.
Is GTA V leaving PlayStation?
The available evidence does not establish that GTA V is being removed from PlayStation or that its PlayStation availability ends on a particular date. PlayStation’s official Grand Theft Auto V archive includes historical coverage of the PS5 version: a preload post dated March 8, 2022, and an announcement dated March 4, 2022, that GTA V and GTA Online were coming to PS5 on March 15. The archive also lists a PlayStation Plus Game Catalog feature dated May 22, 2026. Those entries document past and ongoing coverage; they are not a notice that the game is being withdrawn.
A date attached to one kind of access would not automatically apply to every way of playing. A notice might concern a subscription catalog, a particular platform, an online feature, or a limited-time offer. Without the actual notice, there is no confirmed cutoff date, affected player group, or consequence to report.

No deadline to play GTA V before GTA 6 is confirmed by the available material. The phrase “before GTA 6 takes over” does not itself establish that GTA V will become unavailable when GTA 6 launches. No specific PlayStation or Rockstar announcement matching the claimed hard deadline was identified.
#1 Best Overall
- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
That distinction matters: a game’s release schedule, a subscription-catalog change, and the end of a promotion are different events. A date for one cannot be treated as a universal end date for GTA V or GTA Online. The reported information does not provide a verified date or time zone, region, platform, or affected service for the claim in the headline.
Do GTA Online players need to do anything?
No required action for GTA Online players is established here. There is no verified instruction to migrate an account, transfer progress, claim a reward, or make a purchase before a cutoff. Do not spend money or change account settings solely because an unsourced post says a deadline is approaching.

One separate deadline may be causing confusion. GTA BOOM reported on May 13, 2025, that a returning-player offer had a June 12 deadline. The report described GTA$1 million for returning players, with additional amounts tied to a Shark Card purchase and a GTA+ subscription. That was a past promotional offer, not evidence of a PlayStation end date for GTA V or GTA Online. Its date and terms should not be recast as a current deadline.
How to assess a deadline notice
Before acting on a post or message, find the original notice from PlayStation or Rockstar and check what it actually says. A screenshot, headline, or promotion summary without a link to the official announcement is not enough to establish that a game or service is ending.

- Identify the affected item. Does the notice name GTA V story mode, GTA Online, a PlayStation Plus catalog listing, a platform version, or a specific promotion?
- Check who is affected. Look for the stated platform—such as PS4 or PS5—and any regional or account eligibility limits.
- Read the exact cutoff. Confirm the date and time zone in the official notice. A promotion’s claim deadline is not necessarily a game-access cutoff.
- Look for the consequence and required action. Determine whether the notice says access ends, a reward expires, a catalog listing changes, or something else. Do not assume that saved progress or account access is lost unless the notice says so.
- Verify before paying or transferring anything. If the notice is unclear, wait for clarification from PlayStation or Rockstar rather than relying on a third-party summary.
What is known—and what is not
PlayStation’s archive confirms that the company has published GTA V and GTA Online coverage over time, including the PS5 release announcements and a 2026 Game Catalog feature. The separate 2025 offer report establishes only that a past promotional deadline was reported; it does not establish a current platform cutoff. Neither fact answers what the supposed “hard deadline” in the headline refers to.
Until an official notice specifies the service or game component, platforms, region, cutoff date and time, and player action, the claim should not be treated as a confirmed end date. If an announcement does appear, those details—not the broad phrase “before GTA 6”—are what determine whether it affects a particular player.
