This review covers PassportCard’s short-trip travel insurance, not its separately marketed international private medical insurance. PassportCard describes its distinctive feature as a red card for paying eligible medical expenses abroad, with activation or top-ups through its app or 24/7 center. But the available official material does not establish the current benefits, limits, exclusions, or price of a market-specific policy called Comprehensive. Those details—and the policy certificate—matter more than the card’s convenience when deciding whether the cover fits your trip.
How PassportCard travel insurance is meant to work
PassportCard says its red card is a payment instrument for medical expenses abroad. According to the company, customers can activate coverage or top up through the app or a 24/7 center, then pay medical providers directly. This describes the company’s service proposition, not a guarantee that every provider accepts the card, every expense qualifies, or every claim can be handled without paperwork. Review the applicable policy and ask PassportCard how a specific treatment or provider would be handled before relying on direct payment. PassportCard’s product page also describes complimentary online medical consultations around the clock; it does not specify conditions or response times.
What does Comprehensive cover?
The official material reviewed does not establish the current schedule of benefits for an unspecified PassportCard Comprehensive travel policy. It therefore cannot support a reliable list of medical limits, evacuation cover, cancellation or interruption benefits, baggage protection, exclusions, deductibles, or premium. These can vary with country, policy edition, and traveler circumstances. Do not infer that a particular benefit is included from the product name alone.
Before buying, obtain the policy wording and certificate for the exact market and trip. Check:

Who can buy it?
PassportCard states that its products are not available to everyone or in every country and are subject to requirements. Its Israel travel policy terms describe eligibility primarily for Israeli citizens over 18 who purchase while in Israel before departure. That is a market-specific example, not a universal PassportCard rule. Check the terms for your country and your departure date.

The same Israel policy terms say the benefits and coverage are those in the purchased policy, and apply from the effective date through the last day shown on the insurance certificate. For the actual dates and cover that apply to you, the certificate and policy wording take precedence over a general product description.

PassportCard also offers international private medical insurance, a distinct product for people living or working abroad. Its Europe international health plan application concerns that product, not short-term trip insurance. It lists geographic-zone, plan, dental-rider, and deductible choices, and identifies different underwriters: AWP Health & Life SA for Premium, and VYV International Benefits acting for MGEN Portugal for Compact and Comfort. PassportCard Europe GmbH is named as distributor and administrator.

The application says acceptance is required and coverage is confirmed through a membership certificate. Applicants must provide complete and accurate medical information; the form warns that incomplete or incorrect answers may affect cover or benefits. It also asks applicants to check whether compulsory local insurance rules make the plan suitable for their country of residence. These details should not be attributed to a short-trip Comprehensive travel policy without its own terms.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What can be concluded about PassportCard?
PassportCard’s About Us page names Alon Ketzef as Founder & President and reports 2 million insured worldwide, over 1,200 corporate accounts, and operations in over 150 countries. These are company-published figures; the page does not state a year for them. They provide company context, not independent evidence of claim outcomes or customer satisfaction.
The available evidence does not include an independent customer-satisfaction or claims-performance study, nor does it establish hands-on test results. As a result, it supports describing the payment-card concept and explaining what to verify in the policy, but not a verdict that PassportCard Comprehensive is better value or more dependable than competitors.
