The available reporting does not establish four separate critical flaws or confirm Meta’s current response. It describes one vulnerability in the Mac version of Meta Muse: code already running as the logged-in user could redirect the app’s dictation traffic, potentially exposing prompts and Muse authentication material and misusing access the user had granted the assistant. That makes the report a reason for caution, but it is not evidence of a remote break-in or a breach of Meta’s cloud.
What was reported about Meta Muse?
On September 22, 2026, The Hacker News reported that an undocumented Mac setting named endo_voyager_dictation_endpoint could be changed by code running as the logged-in user. Patrick Wardle’s proof-of-concept repository documents the same setting and local prerequisite: The Hacker News report and Wardle’s proof of concept.
Changing the endpoint could redirect Muse dictation traffic to a server controlled by an attacker. When a user dictated a prompt, its audio or text could be sent there. The attacker could read the prompt, add instructions that Muse might trust, and capture a Muse account token. The report describes possible misuse of the assistant’s existing access, including access to chat history and control of the assistant across devices.

This was not described as a vulnerability that lets someone break into a Mac remotely on its own. The attacker must first be able to run code as the Mac’s logged-in user. The report discusses ClickFix as one possible route to that initial execution, but that is a separate step from the Muse vulnerability itself. Do not conflate a user being tricked into running code with an attacker exploiting Muse from afar.

Once that local prerequisite is met, the changed dictation destination creates a path to intercept and influence voice interactions. The potential exposure depends on what the user dictates and what permissions or account access Muse already has.
What the demonstration did—and did not—show
Wardle’s tests showed misuse of access already granted to Muse, not a demonstrated compromise of Meta’s cloud infrastructure. The report says the demonstration did not bypass macOS protections that prevent one app from reading another app’s saved credentials, and it did not show that Meta’s cloud isolation design had been broken.

In the reported tests, Muse drafted messages rather than sending them autonomously. That distinction matters: the report supports concern about redirected dictation, captured account material, and abuse of the assistant’s existing permissions, but it does not establish that the app silently sent messages on its own.
Does the evidence support “four critical flaws” or a cover-up?
No. The two sources describe one vulnerability and several possible consequences, not four separately established flaws. The headline wording “4 critical security flaws” is therefore not substantiated by the available evidence; no severity score is supplied in the report materials summarized here.

The Hacker News said Wardle had not reported the vulnerability to Meta before public disclosure. It also reported that Meta later pushed a change Wardle called a “fix,” but the reporter could not confirm what the change did and said Meta had not published a security advisory at that time. Those are publication-time details, not confirmation of Meta’s current intent, disclosure status, or patch status. The available reporting does not establish that Meta currently refuses to acknowledge the issue.

- Quit or remove Muse.
- Review Muse’s macOS permissions and revoke those it does not need.
- Avoid using Muse voice input to close the specific dictation path demonstrated in the report.
- Do not paste commands into Terminal in response to a website or message.
- If you suspect the Mac may already be compromised, treat the Muse account and connected accounts as exposed and change their passwords.
The report does not verify whether a current app update closes the issue. Check for an official security notice or app update information before relying on a fix, and do not assume that the change described at publication resolved the vulnerability.
