Yes, if you want an arcade-style beat ’em up where solo combat still lets you switch between two heroes. The 15-character roster offers variety, but it does not guarantee a long-term progression loop: PC Gamer praised the characters while wishing the game gave them more to do. Buy it for the tag-team action and Marvel roster, not on the assumption that it will keep rewarding extended play.
What solo play is like
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a side-scrolling beat ’em up in which Marvel heroes fight the Annihilation Wave. Dotemu lists 15 playable heroes, but the roster count describes character choice—not campaign length or replay value. Dotemu’s official game page describes the game as a frenetic action beat ’em up.
Solo players are not limited to controlling one hero at a time. PC Gamer reports that each player chooses two characters in both solo and co-op, then switches between them. That tag-team setup gives a solo run a sense of managing a small team. It is a combat feature, though, not evidence of deep character progression. PC Gamer’s review praised the characters but said it wished the game offered more for them to do.
Does it have enough replay value?
The 15-hero roster gives you different characters to try, but roster size alone cannot establish how much meaningful content or long-term progression the game offers. PC Gamer’s criticism is a reason for caution if your main buying criterion is an extended progression loop or a steady stream of things to unlock and pursue. What co-op does it support?
Co-op is available locally and online, and Dotemu describes the multiplayer as drop-in/drop-out. Nintendo’s store listing also identifies online co-op, cross-platform play, and play on one console. These options make the game suitable for playing with someone beside you or online, but check the listing for the specific platform and edition you plan to buy for the applicable multiplayer details.
Which version should you buy?
Choose based first on the platform you own and whether you expect to play solo, locally with another person, or online. Dotemu has announced physical Standard and Deluxe editions for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. There is also paid add-on content. Dotemu lists the Cyclops & The Thing DLC for $3.99 on its official game page; treat that as the publisher-listed price rather than a guaranteed local storefront price. Dotemu announced The Siege of Castle Doom for November 10, 2026, featuring Invisible Woman, Doctor Doom, and a new mode. As of October 13, 2026, that release date is in the future, so it should be treated as announced content, not content already available.
