Neither option is always better. Buying online is usually the smoother choice when you have already selected the exact Realme model, memory configuration and colour, and can verify the seller, invoice, return rules and regional warranty. A physical store is more useful when you want to handle the phone, check its size and screen, ask questions in person or complete the purchase without waiting for delivery.

The safest decision is to compare the same configuration through a verified online seller and an official or authorised shop in your country. Judge the final payable price, seller identity, stock, delivery or collection, defect-replacement period, warranty provider and realistic service options together. A lower headline price is not a bargain if the phone is imported, the invoice is invalid for local service or the return process is unclear.

Online versus store: the practical answer

Your priorities determine the better channel. Online buying rewards preparation and price checking; in-store buying rewards inspection and immediate, face-to-face help. The table below shows what each channel can and cannot guarantee.

Decision point Buying online Buying in a store
Seller and authenticity You must verify the named seller, fulfilment party, invoice and regional model yourself. A marketplace name alone is not proof of authorisation. An official or authorised shop gives you a physical business to identify. Realme India describes its official stores as sources of genuine products and after-sales support.
Price Easy to compare listings and payment offers, but delivery fees, seller promotions and imported variants can change the real total. The displayed price may include immediate collection, but discounts and stock vary by branch. No general evidence establishes that stores are always more expensive.
Availability You can see a listing before travelling, although “in stock” may not mean the seller can dispatch promptly. You can confirm physical stock before paying, but a branch may have only a demo or a different memory configuration.
Handling the phone You normally inspect it only after delivery. You can ask to handle the exact model, check its weight, screen, camera bump and software, if a demo unit is available.
Delivery or collection Convenient, but you must inspect the parcel and follow the seller’s damaged-delivery procedure. You leave with the device after checking the box and invoice, subject to local stock and opening policies.
Returns and defects Rules depend on the named seller and country. Follow the stated time limit and evidence requirements. Returns are still governed by the shop’s written policy; an in-person purchase does not automatically create a change-of-mind return.
Warranty and service Confirm that the model and invoice qualify for your country’s Realme service network. The shop may help submit a claim, but the manufacturer’s local warranty and authorised-service rules still apply.

There is no reliable universal winner on price, delivery speed or stock for an unspecified model and buyer. Compare like with like on the day you intend to purchase.

When buying online is the better fit

You already know the exact phone you want

Online ordering makes sense when you have decided on the model, RAM and storage, colour and regional version. You can then compare two identical configurations instead of being persuaded by a cheaper listing with less storage, a different charger or an imported warranty.

You can verify the seller before paying

Read the listing’s seller field, not just the marketplace logo. Check whether the seller is Realme’s own store, an identified authorised retailer or an unrelated third party. Look for a proper invoice, a local business address and a stated warranty provider. If the listing is vague about the model number, region, charger, return address or invoice, treat the uncertainty as a cost.

You are comfortable inspecting a shipment

Keep time to examine the outer carton, seals, phone, accessories and paperwork as soon as the parcel arrives. Photograph visible damage before opening if the seller’s policy requires evidence. If the courier package is crushed or wet, note the condition on the proof of delivery or refuse the parcel when the applicable terms tell you to do so. These instructions are stated in Realme India’s online-store terms; a different marketplace can impose a different process.

Online buying procedure

  1. Match the configuration. Record the model name, storage, memory, colour and regional model number. Do not compare a base variant with a higher-priced configuration.
  2. Identify the seller. Confirm who sells, who ships and who will handle a return. Save the listing and seller details because pages can change.
  3. Calculate the final total. Include delivery or collection charges, mandatory fees, taxes shown at checkout and any payment condition attached to a discount.
  4. Read the written policies. Check cancellation, change-of-mind return, damaged-delivery, dead-on-arrival and warranty procedures for your country.
  5. Confirm local eligibility. Ask whether the exact model is intended for your market and whether an authorised service centre will accept its invoice.
  6. Check delivery coverage. On Realme India’s own store, delivery is limited to covered Indian PIN codes. Other sellers may use different geographic limits.
  7. Inspect on arrival. Check the parcel before accepting it where possible, record damage as required, then verify the seal, model, IMEI shown on the box and invoice.
  8. Keep everything. Retain the invoice, original box, accessories and delivery evidence until the initial defect period has passed and you are satisfied with the phone.

When a physical store is the better fit

You need to judge the phone in your hand

A store can reveal things a specification sheet cannot: whether the phone feels too wide, whether the camera module catches on a pocket, how bright the display appears to you and whether the interface feels comfortable. This is a practical benefit, not a measured guarantee that every branch will have a working demo.

You want immediate clarification

Ask the staff to show the exact memory configuration, charger and colour you will receive. Confirm whether the displayed handset is a demo and whether the sealed box contains the same model. Ask who issues the invoice, which company handles the warranty and where a defective phone must be taken.

You need the phone today

Collection avoids courier delays and lets you check the carton before leaving. Call the branch first: the live Realme store locator may not show every local inventory item, and a shop can have a demo without sale stock.

In-store buying procedure

  1. Verify the shop. Use the current Realme locator or the retailer’s official contact details, then confirm that the branch is authorised or officially listed.
  2. Ask for exact stock. State the model, memory, colour and region. Do not accept a substitute configuration without checking its price and warranty.
  3. Inspect the demo carefully. Check ergonomics, display, cameras and software, but remember that a demo is not the sealed handset you are buying.
  4. Review the box and invoice. Match the model and identifiers, check that accessories are included and ensure the invoice names the seller, product and purchase date.
  5. Read return terms before payment. Ask specifically about a manufacturing defect, accidental damage, change of mind and unopened returns. Obtain the policy in writing if it is not printed.
  6. Check service arrangements. Find out whether the shop accepts warranty claims or directs you to an authorised Realme service centre.
  7. Keep the paperwork. Store the invoice, box and accessories safely even after leaving with the phone.

What Realme’s India policies mean for buyers

India has the clearest published terms among the sources available for this comparison. Realme India’s warranty page lists a 12-month handset warranty for products purchased in India. It also lists a 10-day manufacturing-defect replacement period for purchases through the official website, offline or retail stores and e-commerce. Those are the policy terms displayed by Realme India, not a promise that every seller follows an identical process or a replacement for rights granted by local consumer law.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The warranty is regional. A phone bought outside India, or an imported variant sold by a third party, may not qualify for the Indian service network. Confirm the policy for your own country before treating a seller’s “global warranty” wording as equivalent to local coverage.

Delivery and damaged packaging

Realme India’s online-store terms limit delivery to covered Indian PIN codes. They tell customers to inspect the item when it arrives, record outer or inner packaging damage on the courier’s proof of delivery or refuse delivery. Those directions apply to that official store’s terms; a marketplace seller can require a different notification period, photographs or collection method. Follow the terms attached to the order you actually placed.

Making a warranty claim

Realme India’s warranty-claim FAQ, updated on 9 December 2024, advises taking a valid purchase invoice and the original box to a service centre. Its repair page describes online application and pickup-and-drop service. Two-way courier is described as free only for eligible in-warranty cases, and availability depends on the product, address and eligibility. Do not assume every buyer receives pickup service or that accidental damage is covered.

Protection plans

Realme Care’s India terms describe protection plans for eligible brand-new smartphones sold through official channels and selected e-commerce portals. Online and offline purchases can have different conditions. The existence of a plan does not prove that your model, seller or address qualifies; check the plan’s eligibility, exclusions, activation deadline and claim process before assigning it any value.

How regional terms change the decision

Country matters more than the channel label. Realme’s UK sales terms, for example, restrict after-sales support to areas where Realme ships. That illustrates why a phone purchased abroad can create service and return complications even when the hardware appears identical. In another country, the warranty period, authorised-service network, consumer cancellation rights and importer responsibility may differ.

  • Use the local Realme website or local authorised retailer for the country where the phone will be used.
  • Check that the invoice is issued by a seller recognised in that market.
  • Confirm network bands, charger type and software-region implications when considering an imported listing.
  • Ask who pays shipping for a warranty claim and where the device will be assessed.

A simple decision framework

Choose online when all of the following are true: the exact model is already selected; the seller and invoice are verifiable; the final price is meaningfully better or the delivery convenience matters; the return and defect procedure is clear; and you can inspect the parcel promptly.

Choose a store when any of these carry more weight: you are unsure about size or screen comfort; you need the phone immediately; you want a staff member to explain the configuration; you prefer to inspect the sealed package before leaving; or the local shop provides a clearer service path than an online third party.

If the two options cost about the same, favour the one with the stronger written warranty, easier return logistics and a seller you can identify. Do not pay extra merely for a physical address if the shop cannot provide an invoice or explain its service process.

Final pre-purchase checklist

  • Compare the same Realme model, storage, memory, colour and regional version.
  • Verify the seller, fulfilment party and authorisation status.
  • Calculate the complete payable amount, including delivery or collection charges and conditional discounts.
  • Confirm stock, delivery coverage or branch availability on the purchase date.
  • Read cancellation, return, damaged-delivery and manufacturing-defect rules.
  • Check who provides the warranty and which service locations accept the device.
  • Ensure the invoice identifies the seller, product and date.
  • If buying in person, ask whether you can handle the exact model and whether it is a demo.
  • If ordering delivery, inspect the parcel promptly and record damage according to the seller’s procedure.
  • Keep the invoice, original box and accessories until the defect period and any initial return window have ended.

For most prepared buyers, online ordering is convenient; for uncertain buyers, a verified store reduces the risk of choosing the wrong size or configuration. The best purchase is not defined by the channel. It is the transaction that gives you the correct local model, a traceable seller, a usable invoice, a clear return route and service you can realistically access.
