Lucasfilm’s launch coverage identifies Jakku as the desert world familiar from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It also describes Crait as familiar to fans of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The same coverage highlights Sebulba, the aggressive podracer introduced in Star Wars: Episode I—The Phantom Menace. Tatooine and other recognisable Star Wars references also appear in the game’s locations and presentation.

Those references establish a direct relationship with the film universe: players are racing through places and alongside characters that audiences already know from Star Wars films. They do not, by themselves, prove that every race, rival, or story outcome has a fixed position in the official continuity.
Is Galactic Racer officially canon?
The responsible answer is not explicitly confirmed by the cited official announcements. The game is official, licensed, and built in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, but the launch descriptions do not use a formal “canon” label or provide a canon designation for its story.
That distinction matters because “official Star Wars product” and “every event is confirmed continuity” are not interchangeable claims. The Galactic League
The Galactic League is presented as an underground racing circuit rather than a government-sponsored championship. Its races take place while political authority and infrastructure are still being rebuilt. That premise gives the game room to move between established worlds and less familiar corners of the Outer Rim without retelling a film plot.
Shade’s story
You play as Shade, a racer pulled into the League’s rivalries. The launch story names Kestar Bool and Shade’s conflict with the Bool family, with mechanic Hibi helping Shade navigate the competition. Sebulba is also involved in the campaign’s cast of racers and rivals.

Choose vehicles for their strengths
Landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and podracers are presented as distinct classes with different tactical advantages. Try more than one type before deciding which craft fits your preferred routes, combat approach, and risk tolerance.
Plan for repeated runs
The campaign’s runs-based structure means a single failed attempt is part of the format rather than necessarily the end of progression. Pay attention to perks and unlocks that carry over, and treat route choices as strategic decisions instead of automatically taking the shortest visible line.
