Not as a verified current offer. The oft-repeated claim that Fanatical is selling 17 Steam Deck-friendly games worth $400 for $17 combines details that do not match the latest available listings. Current dated reports describe different bundles, prices and game counts, while the 17-game deal that most closely resembles the headline was reported in September 2025 at $48.55. Check the live Fanatical checkout before treating any figure as current.
What the latest reports actually describe
Three separate promotions appear to have been folded into the $17 headline. They are not interchangeable, and none independently verifies a current 17-game, $400-value purchase for $17.
| Reported promotion | Games and format | Reported price | Reported original-price baseline | What it proves |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Platinum Collection, October 2026 | 14 Steam Deck-friendly games; build-your-own selection | $39.90 for all 14 in the US report | $174.86 combined original price | A current-dated report of a different 14-game offer, not a $17/17-game bundle (iTechGuides, October 3, 2026). |
| Retro Revival, September 2026 | 19 compatible games: 17 individual titles plus one double-pack; tiered selection pricing | $26.98 for all selections in the report | $324.32 combined original value | The 19-game count and $26.98 price do not match the headline (PC Guide, updated September 30, 2026). |
| Platinum Collection, September 2025 | 17 Steam Deck-playable games; selectable bundle | $48.55 | $363.68 total value | This is the closest documented 17-game offer, but it is historical rather than evidence of a live deal (Notebookcheck, September 8, 2025). |
“Worth $400” also needs qualification. Bundle articles generally compare the selection with listed individual prices at the time of publication; that is not the same as a guaranteed current Steam checkout total. Discounts, regional pricing and later price changes can alter the comparison.
How Fanatical’s build-your-own bundles work
Fanatical’s storefront describes Build Your Own Bundles as a system in which you choose the games and receive greater savings as you select more. That means “17 games for $17” can be misleading even when a promotion has a low per-game entry price: the minimum tier, number of titles selected and final checkout total may all differ.

The store currently lists 761 products, including 757 Steam products, 212 marked Steam Deck Playable and 202 marked Steam Deck Verified. Fanatical says it sells official keys and officially licensed games, reporting more than 156 million official keys sold and more than 17,000 officially licensed games. Those storefront totals describe the merchant’s catalog, not the contents or value of a particular bundle (Fanatical, accessed October 16, 2026).
Verified versus Playable: the compatibility distinction
Steam Deck Verified
Verified is Valve’s stronger compatibility designation. It indicates that the game meets Valve’s checks for controller input, display configuration, performance expectations and other usability criteria on the Deck.

Steam Deck Playable
Playable means the game runs on Deck but may require a manual adjustment, an on-screen keyboard, a touch-screen interaction, a launcher step or another minor workaround. A bundle described as “Steam Deck-friendly” can therefore contain both labels. The dated reports do not establish that every title in the reported selections is Verified.

What to check before paying
- Open the live bundle page. Confirm its name, end date and the number of titles currently available.
- Review the tier rules. Note the minimum number of games, the price at each tier and whether a double-pack counts as one selection or multiple games.
- Inspect every title. Record whether Steam shows Verified or Playable and check recent user feedback if a workaround would affect you.
- Check the value calculation. Treat the stated original-price total as a dated comparison, not a guaranteed saving against today’s regional Steam prices.
- Verify activation restrictions. On the checkout or key-information panel, confirm that the key can activate in your country. A game can be sold globally while its key remains region-restricted.
- Read the final checkout total. Currency conversion, tax, regional pricing, stock limits and an expired promotion can change the amount shown in an article.
Why the $17 claim may still appear online
Deal headlines often preserve the lowest advertised tier or an earlier promotion after the bundle has changed. In this case, the documented 17-game promotion was from September 2025, while later reports describe 14-game and 19-game selections at different prices. A headline can therefore be numerically plausible as a historical or minimum-tier reference without describing what a US customer can buy today.
Availability can also vary by country. A key may be out of stock, blocked from activation in a territory or replaced when a bundle expires. Fanatical’s own live product page and checkout are the authority for those conditions.

- Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
Optional hardware for playing a bundle on a TV
The games are digital keys; no dock or other hardware is included. If you want a living-room setup, a USB-C Steam Deck docking station with HDMI output, power delivery and USB ports is an optional accessory. Choose one separately and confirm that its video output and charger support the resolution and refresh rate you plan to use.

Bottom line for shoppers
The exact “17 games worth $400 for $17” offer is not established by the current dated evidence. The closest documented match was 17 playable games for $48.55 in September 2025. Later reports put other build-your-own bundles at 14 games for $39.90 or 19 compatible games for $26.98. Use the live listing to confirm the selected-game count, Verified/Playable mix, regional activation and final price before purchasing.
