Is Gogo inflight free on Delta? Not always. Delta calls its older Gogo service Wi-Fi Onboard, and a flight using that system may require a paid internet pass. Delta Sync Wi-Fi is free for SkyMiles members on equipped flights, while Delta Studio entertainment is free whether or not you buy internet access. Availability depends on the aircraft, so check each flight before traveling.

What “Gogo” means on Delta now
Gogo is legacy branding in Delta’s current passenger information. Delta identifies the older service as “Wi-Fi Onboard (formerly Gogo)” and distinguishes it from the newer Delta Sync Wi-Fi system. Seeing a reference to Gogo does not mean every Delta flight uses that system: equipment and service differ across the fleet.
When Delta Wi-Fi is free—and when it may cost extra
Delta Sync: free full internet for SkyMiles members on equipped flights
Delta says fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi is available to SkyMiles members on most domestic U.S. flights, with rollout continuing across its fleet. You need to sign in with SkyMiles credentials to access the free service; if you do not have an account, you can enroll for free. “Most” does not mean every domestic flight, and the availability described does not establish free access on every international route.
Wi-Fi Onboard: free messaging, paid internet pass may be available
On aircraft using Wi-Fi Onboard, Delta says passengers can purchase a flight pass, while messaging is free on Wi-Fi-capable flights. Delta’s cited information does not provide a universal current price for that pass, so check the onboard portal rather than relying on a quoted price from another flight or date.

Delta Studio does not require buying internet
Free Delta Studio entertainment is a separate offering, not evidence that full internet access is free. Delta describes its catalog as including films, series, audio, kids’ content and live TV, available through seatback screens or on personal devices. [c002]
How to check your flight before departure
- Review Delta’s Wi-Fi service details by aircraft at Delta’s onboard Wi-Fi page. Aircraft and routes can have different services.
- When searching or reviewing your trip, look for the free-Wi-Fi-for-SkyMiles indicator in booking results and check Delta’s pre-flight messages for service information. Do not assume availability based only on the airline or route. [c001] [c006]
- If your itinerary has connecting flights, check each leg separately. Delta notes that connecting flights may offer different Wi-Fi services. [c006]
How to connect onboard
- Turn on Airplane Mode, then enable Wi-Fi.
- Select the DeltaWiFi.com network.
- Follow the sign-in portal. For Delta Sync, log in with your SkyMiles account or enroll for one.
- If the portal does not appear automatically, open a browser and enter DeltaWiFi.com.
- On a Wi-Fi Onboard aircraft, use the portal to choose a flight pass or free messaging. [c001] [c005]
What Delta’s rollout figures do—and don’t—tell you
Delta reported in a May 14, 2026 article that Delta Sync Wi-Fi had been installed on more than 1,200 aircraft and had recorded more than 160 million customer sessions since launch. These are company-reported cumulative scale figures; they do not measure speed, reliability or passenger satisfaction, and they do not establish whether a particular flight has Delta Sync. [c004]
