Comparium is discontinued. Its team announced on July 16, 2025, that the website-testing service would end on September 1, 2025, and said active subscriptions would be refunded. That date has passed, so Comparium should not be treated as a service you can sign up for today. If you need to check a site across browsers, choose a currently available testing service based on your required browsers, devices, and workflow.

What Comparium did

Comparium was a browser-compatibility testing service and Chrome extension for checking how websites appeared and behaved in different environments. The Chrome Web Store listing described capturing screenshots and running real-time tests, with access to multiple browsers, operating systems, and screen resolutions. It also listed manual or automatic screenshot comparison and comparison against a mockup. A Comparium account was required to use the extension.

Those details come from the extension’s marketplace listing, not independent testing. The listing identifies version 1.2, last updated July 6, 2021. Its continued presence in the Chrome Web Store does not mean the service remains operational.

When did Comparium close?

In a July 16, 2025 notice, the Comparium Team wrote, “We have made the difficult decision to discontinue the service on September 1, 2025.” The notice also said active subscriptions would be automatically refunded in full. Since the announced closure date has passed, the vendor’s notice is the clearest evidence of the service’s status.

Some third-party information conflicts with that announcement. Capterra’s listing, updated September 29, 2026, describes Comparium in present tense and shows a Basic plan at $15 per user per month. That is unverified listing data, not evidence that the service is available or that the price can be purchased. Comparium’s domain has also been observed redirecting to a general Electronic Team category page; the redirect alone does not establish service status.

What Comparium’s old plans included

A historical Comparium guide described a free version with one parallel test, up to 1,000 screenshots per month, unlimited screenshots per session, and 200 minutes of live testing per month. It also described a paid Live Plus plan as removing certain caps. These are former plan details, not current offers or usable subscription terms.

How to choose a replacement for Comparium

Browserling and BrowserStack are examples of services with current browser-testing product pages. Neither is automatically the best choice for every project. Compare vendors using their own current product and plan information; features, availability, and costs can change.

  • Environment coverage: Confirm that the service supports the browsers and versions, operating systems, screen sizes, and real mobile devices your site must work with.
  • Testing workflow: Decide whether you need interactive manual checks, automated test execution, visual comparison, or a combination.
  • Integration: Check support for your existing test framework and continuous-integration process before committing to a workflow.
  • Team needs: Compare parallel sessions, collaboration features, account management, and support for the number of people who will test.
  • Limits and cost: Verify current plan prices, included minutes, session or concurrency limits, and user limits directly with each vendor.

For occasional visual checks

If you only need to inspect a few pages from time to time, prioritize quick interactive access to the browsers and screen sizes your audience uses. Avoid paying for automation or concurrency your workflow does not need.

For repeatable QA

If a team runs automated suites regularly, check that the service fits your framework and CI process, and that its supported browser and device combinations, concurrency, and collaboration features match the workload. A service that handles a one-off manual check may not suit a broad, repeatable test matrix.
