Yes. Blue Protocol: Star Resonance is a free-to-play digital game: the official Epic Games Store FAQ says you can fully enjoy it without purchasing anything. Optional in-game purchases named by the FAQ are Rose Orbs, mounts and cosmetic outfits. These are virtual game goods, not physical products, and the reviewed official materials do not publish a current price list or establish that spending is required for progression.
What “free to play” means in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance
Free-to-play means the game can be downloaded and played without an upfront purchase for the game itself. You do not need to buy a boxed copy or a paid access key to begin. The Epic Games Store FAQ explicitly describes the title as free-to-play, while Apple’s listing labels it “Free · In-App Purchases.” Steam’s support listing also classifies it as Free To Play and records an October 9, 2025 release date.
That label does not mean every item or service inside the game is free. Instead, the game uses an optional-purchase model: the core experience is available at no charge, while certain virtual goods can be bought through the platform on which you play. The official FAQ’s wording is unusually direct: “You can fully enjoy the game even without making any purchases.” That statement addresses the practical question most players have—whether spending is necessary to start and continue playing.

Can you play without spending money?
According to the publisher’s Epic Games Store FAQ, yes. The FAQ says purchases are optional and that the game can be fully enjoyed without them. Nothing in the reviewed official materials says that a subscription, paid expansion, or one-time admission fee is required to access the game’s normal play experience.
The terms also distinguish between “Game Currency” and “Virtual Goods.” They state that some currency or goods may be obtained without paying—for example, as an in-game award. That means a purchase screen is not proof that the same category of item can only be acquired with real money. The terms do not promise that every item, quantity, or future event reward will be available for free, so treat the free-earning possibility as item- and system-dependent rather than universal.
If you want a no-spend playthrough, you can begin by installing the game from your chosen supported storefront, declining optional purchase prompts, and checking whether the game grants the relevant currency or items through normal play. Because the available rewards can change with updates, consult the current in-game description before assuming that a particular premium item can be earned without payment.
What can you buy?
The official FAQ names three purchase categories. It does not provide a complete catalogue, current prices, bundle sizes, drop rates, or a promise that each category is offered at all times. The safest way to understand the options is to separate what is explicitly named from what remains unconfirmed.

Rose Orbs
Rose Orbs are the clearest example of premium currency in the available documentation. A premium currency generally acts as an intermediary: a player buys the currency through a platform payment flow and then spends it in the game. The FAQ confirms the category, but it does not explain the conversion rate or the exact shop inventory. Do not infer a dollar value, a guaranteed amount of currency, or a particular purchase bundle from the name alone.
The terms’ reference to Game Currency is broader than the FAQ’s Rose Orbs example. Some currency can be awarded in game, but the documents do not state that Rose Orbs themselves are always earnable through play. Check the currency description shown in your current client before paying.
Mounts
Mounts are another officially named purchase type. The word identifies an in-game transport or companion-style asset, but the supplied official information does not specify how mounts function in combat, exploration, travel speed, storage, or progression. It is therefore not accurate to call them cosmetic-only or performance-enhancing based on the FAQ alone.
Cosmetic outfits
Cosmetic outfits are appearance-focused clothing or costume items listed as optional goods. The word “cosmetic” indicates that the purchase is presented as an appearance option, yet the available material does not provide a complete item-by-item ruleset. Review the item’s own description for any limitations, equip requirements, or bundled bonuses before buying.

How virtual goods and currency are treated
The official terms describe digital items as virtual goods rather than physical merchandise. A transaction gives you an in-game entitlement or balance; it does not result in a shipped product. The terms also describe transactions made through the App Store or other platform functionality, so the payment relationship can involve the game operator, the storefront, and your platform account.
This distinction matters when you are comparing prices or seeking a refund. A Rose Orb balance, mount, or outfit is tied to the digital service and its account and platform rules. The terms do not turn these items into transferable physical property, and they do not establish that an item can be resold or moved freely between platforms.
The documents reviewed do not publish a complete policy for account transfers, cross-progression, regional currency conversion, or the treatment of unused balances after a platform change. If any of those issues affects your purchase, read the current terms and the checkout disclosure shown in your storefront before confirming payment.

Do not combine these entries into a claim that every platform has identical content. A store can use the same free label while applying different checkout screens, tax treatment, refund windows, parental controls, or regional availability.

The Epic Games Store FAQ says Epic Games Store purchases are processed through Epic’s payment platform and are non-refundable, with a refund policy linked from that FAQ. Read that statement as an Epic-specific disclosure. It should not be generalized to purchases made through Apple, Steam, or another platform.
The game’s terms refer to transactions through the App Store or other platforms. In practical terms, the place where the payment is authorized is the first place to check for the receipt, support route, refund process, tax information, and parental-control settings. Keep the platform receipt and note the exact item, amount, currency, date, and account used.
Before confirming a purchase, verify the storefront name, the account currently signed in, the currency displayed, and whether the item is a single grant or a recurring charge. The reviewed materials do not identify any recurring subscription for the game, so do not assume that an ordinary currency or outfit purchase repeats automatically; rely on the checkout screen for the transaction type.

What is not established about prices and competitive advantage

- Check the exact quantity of Rose Orbs or the precise mount or outfit included.
- Review the total charge, taxes, exchange rate, and whether the displayed price is promotional.
- Read the item description for use restrictions, expiry language, or platform limitations.
