Yes. Autodesk describes BIM 360 as a cloud-based construction management platform for connecting project teams and supporting construction workflows. The name covers multiple offerings rather than one feature, and BIM 360 is distinct from Autodesk’s newer Forma platform.

What “cloud-based” means for BIM 360

BIM 360 brings project information and construction workflows together through Autodesk’s cloud platform. Autodesk’s overview describes capabilities spanning document management, design collaboration, field management, model coordination, project management, cost management, and project administration. Which functions are available depends on the BIM 360 offering and how the project is configured. Autodesk’s BIM 360 overview describes the platform and its offerings.

Cloud-based does not mean every task happens only in a web browser. Autodesk also identifies mobile apps and a desktop connector that can sync documents locally. BIM 360 APIs can support integrations and workflow automation; organizations should check the relevant documentation for the specific workflow they need.

Is BIM 360 still the current Autodesk platform?

Autodesk still documents BIM 360, but its support materials characterize it as an earlier cloud-based construction management platform and distinguish it from the newer Autodesk Forma platform. They are separate platforms, not interchangeable names for the same project environment. Autodesk Support explains the distinction and migration limitation.

Autodesk says a project created on one platform cannot be automatically migrated to the other. If you are starting a project or considering a platform change, confirm with Autodesk which platform fits your needs and what transition steps are available for your account.

How BIM 360 relates to Autodesk’s current construction products

Autodesk’s current construction overview lists Autodesk Build, BIM Collaborate Pro, Autodesk Takeoff, Autodesk Docs, Assemble, and BuildingConnected. Autodesk describes Docs as a cloud-based common data environment and BIM Collaborate Pro as cloud-based design collaboration software. These are current product references; their appearance in Autodesk’s lineup does not establish that they are interchangeable with BIM 360 or included in an existing BIM 360 subscription. See Autodesk’s current construction product overview.

When assessing a product or platform for a project, match the required work—such as document control, design collaboration, coordination, or field management—to the specific product and account configuration. For a new project or transition, treat the platform choice and migration path as separate questions.

Where BIM 360 data is hosted

For the BIM 360 and Forma regions covered in its regional-storage article, Autodesk lists AWS hosting in the United States East Region and Ireland. This is not a guarantee about the location governing every account or contract. If your organization has data-residency or contractual requirements, verify the applicable location and terms directly for your account. Autodesk’s regional storage information provides the listed regions.
