There is no official confirmation in the sources available that Anbernic is making an RG DDS. The name and claimed specifications circulated in a community post on October 9, 2026; Anbernic’s documented dual-screen devices are the separate RG DS and RG DS Plus. The rumored device’s displays, processor, 3D capability, price, and release date remain unverified.
What is the RG DDS, and has Anbernic announced it?
“RG DDS” is the name attached to a purported Anbernic handheld in a Reddit post dated October 9, 2026. The post reports specifications, including a Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 and two displays, but community discussion is not an official product announcement. The post’s title says Anbernic announced the device; the available official Anbernic pages do not confirm that claim. See the community post.
Earlier coverage discussed rumored RG 2DS and RG 3DS devices, but that reporting does not verify the RG DDS or establish that the current claim continues those rumors. Notebookcheck’s earlier rumor coverage also framed those devices as unconfirmed.

Anbernic’s official listings document two distinct products: RG DS and RG DS Plus. Their specifications should not be mistaken for details about the rumored RG DDS.

Would the rumored device play Nintendo 3DS games?
A dual-screen layout does not establish 3DS game-card compatibility. Nintendo says Nintendo 3DS game cards can be played only on a Nintendo 3DS family system, not on DS, DS Lite, DSi, or DSi XL hardware. Nintendo’s compatibility guidance concerns Nintendo systems; it does not confirm compatibility for an Anbernic device.

Running a 3DS game through emulation is a separate question from reading a 3DS cartridge. The sources here do not establish whether the rumored RG DDS supports either, nor do they verify its operating system or emulation capabilities.

Can the RG DS run 3DS games well?
Available RG DS customer reviews include mixed individual reports about 3DS emulation; one reviewer said Mario Kart 7 ran at around half speed. That is an anecdote, not a controlled benchmark or a promise of performance in other games. It also cannot predict RG DDS performance: the two devices have not been established as equivalent. What should buyers wait to verify?
Before treating the RG DDS as an upcoming product or making a buying decision, look for an official Anbernic announcement or product page that confirms:
- The product’s name and whether it exists as a released or planned model.
- Screen size, resolution, aspect ratio, touch support, and whether it produces stereoscopic 3D.
- Processor, memory, storage, operating system, controls, and battery.
- What games and formats it supports, including whether any 3DS gameplay is emulated rather than provided by cartridge compatibility.
- Price, release timing, and availability in the buyer’s region.
Until those details appear in an official listing, the RG DS and RG DS Plus are the confirmed Anbernic dual-screen products in the sources cited here—not evidence that an RG DDS is coming.
