Short answer: not every ASUS Vivobook is aluminium. ASUS describes some 2025 Vivobook S14 and S16 families as having a “durable metal chassis,” but that wording does not identify aluminium. Elsewhere, ASUS describes a metallic lid or a metal-look finish over a plastic chassis. Check the exact model code and regional specifications before calling a Vivobook aluminium-bodied.
What does “metal chassis” actually tell you?
“Metal chassis” is broader than “aluminium body.” ASUS’s 2025 launch announcements describe the Vivobook S14 S3407CA/VA and S16 M3407HA/M3607HA families as “featuring a durable metal chassis.” That supports saying ASUS calls these families’ chassis metal; it does not establish the alloy or specify that every exterior panel is aluminium. So, if you are asking whether the whole Vivobook range is aluminium, the answer is no. If you mean whether some Vivobooks are described by ASUS as having metal chassis, the answer is yes—but the material claim is model-specific.
How Vivobook material descriptions differ

These descriptions are not interchangeable. A metallic finish concerns appearance, a metallic lid concerns one component, and a metal-chassis claim concerns a broader part of the construction. None should be silently rewritten as “aluminium body.”

Which Vivobook models does ASUS call metal-chassis?
ASUS’s 2025 launch releases identify these model families:
- Vivobook S14: S3407CA and S3407VA.
- Vivobook S16: M3407HA and M3607HA.
ASUS gives launch-series starting figures of 1.40 kg and 1.59 cm thickness for these S14/S16 series. They are manufacturer-published starting specifications, not independent measurements, and should not be assumed to apply to every configuration. The cited launch wording still does not specify aluminium alloy or provide a panel-by-panel materials list.

How to verify the material for your exact Vivobook
- Find the full model code. Check the product label, packaging, invoice or system information. A family name such as “Vivobook 15” is not enough to distinguish construction variants.
- Open ASUS’s specification page for your region. Match the complete model code, not just the marketing name. ASUS cautions that specifications vary by model; consult its support and product specifications for the relevant market.
- Read the scope of the material claim. “Metal chassis” is broader than “metallic lid,” while “metal-look finish” describes appearance. Do not infer that one component’s material applies to the whole laptop.
- Look for an explicit aluminium specification. If the page says only “metal,” that does not confirm aluminium. If it does not identify the material, treat the alloy or panel composition as unconfirmed.
Does a metal chassis make it a “powerhouse”?
Chassis material alone does not establish computing performance, durability, or thermal behavior. The cited ASUS material addresses construction language and launch dimensions, not comparative performance or durability testing. For those questions, use specifications and evidence for the exact processor, configuration and test conditions rather than inferring performance from the word “metal.”
