Usually, yes—but 126g alone cannot prove that a camera will feel comfortable in daily use. The YASHICA Crew is listed at 126g and 25.7mm thick when powered off, which puts it in a genuinely light compact-camera class. However, YASHICA does not say whether that weight includes the removable battery, and no independent pocket-fit, durability or image-quality testing has established how it behaves as an everyday carry. Treat 126g as a promising starting point, then judge the complete loaded camera, its shape and your own pocket.
What the 126g specification actually tells you
The exact 126g match for this question is the YASHICA Crew compact digital camera. YASHICA lists the camera at 126g and 25.7mm thick with the power off. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The page does not clarify whether the 126g includes the removable 700mAh lithium-ion battery.
That missing detail matters. A battery, memory card, wrist strap and protective case all add to the load you feel. If the quoted figure is camera-only, the ready-to-carry setup will weigh more; if it includes the battery, your remaining additions may be small. You should therefore treat 126g as the published camera figure, not as a guaranteed all-in carry weight.
YASHICA’s product description says the Crew “weighs just 126 grams and slips easily into your everyday carry.” That is promotional language from the manufacturer, not a result from a user trial or laboratory comfort study.

What the Crew includes on paper
- Retractable 6X optical zoom
- 180-degree flip-up screen
- 13MP native sensor
- JPEG output advertised up to 36MP
- Video recording up to 4K
- Removable 700mAh Li-ion battery charged through USB-C
- Published powered-off thickness of 25.7mm
These features can make a small camera more useful than a simple fixed-lens device for some people, but specifications do not establish autofocus speed, image quality, battery life, startup time or whether the controls feel natural. Those practical qualities influence whether you actually carry and use it.
Why weight is only half of the carry question
A 126g object is light enough that weight is unlikely to be the main barrier for most owners. Comfort is more often determined by the combination of thickness, outline, edges, pocket fabric and what else is already in the pocket.
Thickness and shape
At 25.7mm powered off, the Crew is roughly two and a half centimetres thick according to YASHICA. That is a useful reference, but it does not describe the complete three-dimensional shape. A lens cover, raised screen hinge, grip, corner radius or protruding controls can make a camera feel thicker than the nominal measurement.

A rectangular camera can also occupy a pocket differently from a phone. It may sit flat against your leg, rotate sideways while you walk or catch on the pocket opening when you remove it. The only reliable answer for your clothing is a physical fit check.

The contents of the pocket
Carrying the camera alongside keys, a wallet and a phone creates a different experience from carrying it alone. Hard objects can press against the camera or screen, and a case may increase bulk enough to change which pocket works. If you normally keep your phone in one front pocket, test whether the camera has a separate pocket or whether both items become awkward together.
How often you handle it
Daily carry is not just a weight test. You need to remove the camera, power it on, frame a subject, zoom, take a picture and put it away repeatedly. A light camera that is slow to access or unpleasant to hold may stay at home, while a slightly heavier camera with controls you enjoy may become the one you actually use.
A useful comparison: 126g versus 121g
Canon lists the older PowerShot ELPH 100 HS at 121g for the camera body only. That shows that a camera around 126g is a plausible compact-camera weight, but it is not an apples-to-apples comparison with the Crew. Canon explicitly identifies its number as body-only, while YASHICA does not state whether its battery is included.

| Camera | Published weight | What the figure covers | Published thickness |

| YASHICA Crew | 126g | YASHICA does not state whether the removable battery is included | 25.7mm powered off |
| Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS | 121g | Camera body only | Not stated in the cited specification |
The five-gram difference is too small to decide everyday comfort by itself. More importantly, the two figures describe different things, so you should not conclude that the Crew’s complete carry weight is five grams heavier than the Canon’s complete setup.

Will it fit in a pants or jeans pocket?
It may, particularly in a roomy front or jacket pocket, but the available specifications cannot guarantee comfortable fit in every pair of trousers. Pocket openings and depth vary substantially, and slim jeans can feel restrictive even with a light camera.
A practical pocket-fit test
- Measure the usable pocket. Check the opening, depth and width with the pocket empty. Measure the space where the camera will actually sit, not just the fabric dimensions.
- Use the powered-off camera size. Start with the published 25.7mm thickness, then include any case or strap you intend to use.
- Test the loaded setup. Add the battery, memory card and protective accessories. If the battery inclusion is unknown, weigh the complete ready-to-carry configuration yourself.
- Walk, sit and bend. A pocket that works while standing may press into your thigh when seated or restrict movement when you crouch.
- Practice retrieval. Pull the camera out, turn it on and return it to the pocket several times. Watch for snagging, accidental button presses and a pocket opening that is too tight.
- Check it against other items. Add your normal phone, wallet and keys. Daily carry means the whole pocket arrangement, not the camera in isolation.
If the camera fits but feels intrusive, a jacket pocket, small cross-body pouch or dedicated compartment may be more practical than forcing it into jeans. That is still everyday carry; the goal is reliable access, not a particular pocket.
What makes a light camera worth carrying?
Weight only helps if the camera offers a reason to bring it. The Crew’s listed 6X optical zoom provides focal-length flexibility that a single-lens device may not, while the flip-up screen can help with low or high shooting angles and self-portraits. Those are potential usability benefits, not proof that the camera will outperform a phone or produce better images.
Optical zoom versus convenience
A retractable optical zoom can cover more framing options without relying solely on digital enlargement. In practice, the usefulness depends on lens quality, low-light performance, stabilization and how quickly the lens extends. None of those performance details are established by the listed specification, so evaluate them in real use rather than assuming that “6X” guarantees superior results.

Controls and readiness
A camera becomes a good everyday companion when it is ready before the moment passes. Check startup time, the location of the shutter and zoom controls, screen visibility outdoors and how easily you can change common settings. A camera that requires two hands for every operation may be less natural in social situations than its weight suggests.
Durability and the “survival factor”
MPB’s October 2026 guide to everyday-carry compacts evaluates cameras using image quality, survival factor in daily life and how enjoyable they are to shoot. It also treats pocketability, image quality and zoom flexibility as separate decision points. That framework is useful because a camera can be light yet unsuitable for daily handling if it is difficult to protect, operate or retrieve.
The Crew’s published page does not establish weather sealing, impact resistance or long-term durability. Do not assume that a 126g compact is rugged simply because it is small. If it will share a pocket with keys or be carried in crowded environments, use a protective strategy appropriate to the camera’s actual construction.
What you can and cannot conclude before buying
Reasonable conclusions
- 126g is a genuinely light published camera weight and makes everyday carry plausible for many people.
- The 25.7mm powered-off thickness suggests a compact form, but does not guarantee comfort in slim pockets.
- The optical zoom and flip-up screen may provide practical reasons to carry it in addition to a phone.
- The weight should be compared with the complete battery-and-accessory setup, not just the headline number.
Claims that remain unproven
- That the 126g includes the removable battery.
- That the Crew fits comfortably in every pants or jeans pocket.
- That it delivers better image quality, responsiveness or battery life than a phone.
- That it withstands drops, rain, keys or long-term daily handling.
- That independent owners have already confirmed it as a successful everyday camera.
These limits are especially important because the official listing currently describes the Crew as a pre-order, with shipping scheduled from the week of 26 October 2026. Specifications and availability can change, and independent hands-on experience is not yet established.

A decision guide for different carry habits
If you want a front-jeans-pocket camera
Prioritize the complete thickness and pocket opening over the 126g headline. Test the camera without a case first, then decide whether the added protection is worth the extra bulk. If sitting makes the camera press into your leg or the pocket becomes difficult to close, use another carry location.
If you already carry a large phone
Ask what the camera adds. The Crew’s zoom range and flip-up screen may justify a second device, but only if you can reach it faster or enjoy using it more than your phone. Carrying two rectangular devices can be less convenient than carrying one, even when each is light.
If you carry a bag or jacket
The 126g weight is unlikely to be burdensome in a small camera compartment. In this setup, protection, access and battery readiness become more important than saving a few grams. Keep the camera where it will not be crushed by heavier items and where you can retrieve it without unpacking the bag.

Consider whether the controls, zoom and screen encourage spontaneous use. A camera that is easy to hold and quick to operate can earn its place even when a phone is already available. Conversely, if you rarely want to manage a separate battery or memory card, the low weight may not overcome the extra routine.
How to verify the real carry experience when the camera is available
- Weigh the complete kit. Include the battery, memory card, strap and the case you will actually use. Record the total rather than relying only on the product-page figure.
- Measure the thickest point. Check the powered-off camera with the lens retracted and any protective cover fitted. Note whether a hinge or control protrudes beyond the stated body thickness.
- Run a one-day pocket trial. Carry it through normal walking, commuting, sitting and social activity. Do not judge comfort after only a few minutes at home.
- Time the access routine. Practice retrieving, powering on, framing and stowing the camera. Repeat this with one hand where you would realistically use it.
- Inspect contact risks. Look for rubbing against keys, lint entering openings, accidental button presses and pressure on the screen or lens.
- Review the photographs and your behavior. Check whether you used the zoom and screen, whether the camera was ready when needed and whether you chose it over your phone. Carrying frequency is the final test.
Bottom-line answer
A 126g compact camera is light enough to make everyday carry realistic, and the YASHICA Crew’s listed 25.7mm powered-off thickness supports that possibility. It is not enough evidence to promise comfortable pants-pocket carry or prove that the camera will become part of your routine. Confirm the battery-inclusive weight, test the complete shape in your own clothing and evaluate access, usefulness and durability once independent hands-on experience is available.
