The best foldable is not automatically the one with the largest inner screen. For most buyers, the decisive questions are whether the phone is comfortable when closed, whether the opened display is genuinely useful, how much durability evidence the maker provides, which camera perspectives you need, what the battery claims actually measure, and whether the software supports the way you multitask.
Apple’s announced iPhone Duo uses a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display. Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold has 6.4-inch and 8-inch screens, while Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 has 6.5-inch and 8.0-inch screens. Those diagonals are only the starting point. This comparison separates manufacturer claims from independently tested results and shows which features should decide your purchase.
Quick comparison: the specifications that affect daily use
The table below puts the announced specifications side by side. It is not a performance ranking: the manufacturers use different methods for brightness, battery life, zoom and durability, and no common independent benchmark is available for these three phones.

Samsung’s specifications in this comparison come from its US product page, so local models and carrier configurations may differ. Availability and feature support should be checked for your country before ordering.

1. Start with the phone closed, not open
A foldable spends much of its day folded. The cover display controls one-handed typing, phone calls, two-factor codes, navigation, quick messages and camera use when you do not want to open the device. A spectacular inner display cannot compensate for a cover screen that feels cramped or awkward for your routine.
Cover-screen differences
- iPhone Duo: 5.4 inches. Apple lists a matching aspect ratio between the outer and inner displays, plus ProMotion and Always On. Its narrower physical footprint may appeal if pocket comfort and one-handed reach are more important than maximum typing area.
- Pixel 10 Pro Fold: 6.4 inches. The larger cover display should provide more room for normal typing and web pages, while the 8-inch inner panel is available for reading or multitasking.
- Galaxy Z Fold7: 6.5 inches on the cover and 8.0 inches inside. The cover is the largest of the three listed here, which may reduce the need to unfold for routine tasks.
Screen diagonals do not describe width, keyboard layout or reachability by themselves. Before buying, handle each phone folded if possible, type a paragraph with one hand, open the notification shade, enter a web address and make a call. Those actions expose comfort differences that a specification sheet cannot.
2. Judge the inner screen by the work it enables
The opened display matters when it replaces a tablet for reading, documents, video, photo editing or two-app work. Google and Samsung both list 8-inch inner displays; Apple lists 7.6 inches. The numerical difference is modest compared with the software experience and the aspect ratio.
Brightness and outdoor visibility
Apple claims peak outdoor brightness of up to 3,000 nits for the iPhone Duo. Google says both Pixel 10 Pro Fold displays reach up to 3,000 nits. Samsung’s cited product page does not provide a directly comparable peak-brightness figure. “Up to” values are maximum manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that the whole screen sustains that level in every mode or environment.
Glare and the crease
Apple says the iPhone Duo’s nano-texture finish reduces glare, reflections and the visibility of the fold crease. That may be valuable under office lighting or outdoors, but there is no independent reflectance or crease test shared across these phones. Google describes an upgraded foldable panel, and Samsung describes its display and hinge, without publishing a common crease metric in the material compared here.
When inspecting a store sample, view a white document at an angle, scroll through dark content and use the phone under a bright overhead light. A crease that is unobtrusive in a dark room may be easier to notice when reflections cross it. Screen finish and screen size are separate buying criteria.

3. Treat water and dust ratings as one part of durability
IP ratings describe specific ingress tests; they do not certify hinge longevity, resistance to drops or the long-term condition of a flexible inner panel. The three ratings are therefore not interchangeable shorthand for “most durable.”
What each maker claims
- Apple: IP68, with a titanium exterior, a 3D-printed hinge cover and layered reinforcement for the inner display. Apple’s announcement does not state a fold-cycle count.
- Google: IP68. Google says its gearless hinge is twice as durable as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold hinge and supports more than 10 years of folding. Those are Google’s engineering and testing claims, not an independent laboratory comparison.
- Samsung: IP48 and an Armor FlexHinge. Samsung defines the particle portion as resistance to particles larger than 1 mm and cites a fresh-water immersion test of up to 5 feet for up to 30 minutes. That test description is not equivalent to the IP68 claims listed by Apple and Google.
None of these ratings makes a foldable safe from sand, grit, impact damage or liquid trapped around the hinge. Keep the hinge clean, avoid forcing the phone open, and follow the manufacturer’s liquid-exposure instructions. If hinge resistance changes, the inner panel develops a line or the phone stops opening flat, back up your data and seek authorized service rather than repeatedly cycling the device.
4. Compare cameras by lens coverage and shooting situations
Megapixel counts alone do not tell you which foldable will make better photos. Consider the focal lengths you use, whether you photograph distant subjects, and how much you value an ultra-wide lens.
iPhone Duo
Apple lists a 48MP main camera, optical-quality 2x telephoto from that main camera and a 48MP ultra-wide. The 2x mode is useful for portraits and moderate subject isolation, but it is not the same optical arrangement as a dedicated longer telephoto lens.
Pixel 10 Pro Fold
Google describes a triple rear-camera system with a 48MP main camera and up to 20x Super Res Zoom. Super Res Zoom is a computational mode; the “up to 20x” figure should not be read as 20x optical magnification. The practical question is how often you shoot distant subjects and whether you prefer computational reach to a dedicated telephoto lens.

Samsung lists a 200MP wide camera, a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP 3x optical telephoto. The dedicated 3x lens gives Samsung a distinct hardware option for portraits and distant details, while the high-resolution wide camera may support cropping in good light.

These are manufacturer specifications. There is no shared camera test here measuring exposure, autofocus, skin tones, night photography or video stabilization, so the specifications cannot establish an overall image-quality winner.
5. Read battery claims as different measurements
Battery figures from these companies are not apples-to-apples results. Apple reports video playback separately for the inner and outer screens and also gives a mixed-use figure. Google uses an “up to 30-plus hours” description and specifies a 50% wired charge in 30 minutes. Samsung reports battery capacity and video playback.

Actual runtime depends on cellular signal, brightness, refresh rate, camera use, gaming, background synchronization and how often you use the inner panel. If you travel or work away from outlets, compare charging accessories and your own usage pattern rather than selecting a winner from the headline hours.

6. Software can outweigh a small hardware difference
iOS 27 and continuity
Apple says iOS 27 adapts to both iPhone Duo displays, allowing activities to continue as you move between the cover and inner screens. That continuity is most valuable if your existing work, messaging, password and media services are already centered on Apple’s platform. Apple also announced Apple Pencil with USB-C support planned for later in 2026; confirm the release date and compatibility before treating it as an available launch feature.
Pixel multitasking
Google specifically describes adjustable two-app split-screen and drag-and-drop. Those controls target the practical reason to buy a foldable: keeping a reference, conversation or file visible while working in another app. Check the apps you use most, because a system feature does not guarantee that every app supports every large-screen layout.
One UI 8 and Galaxy AI
Samsung presents One UI 8 and Galaxy AI as part of the Fold7 experience. AI functions can vary by region, operating-system version, model and carrier, so confirm the exact features on the model sold in your market. If your workflow depends on a specific AI action, treat its local availability as a purchase requirement rather than an assumption.

7. Decide which feature matters most for your use case
Choose the iPhone Duo when closed-phone comfort and iOS continuity lead
The iPhone Duo is the most compact on the cover-screen specification at 5.4 inches, while still offering a 7.6-inch inner display. Its claimed nano-texture treatment may appeal to people who regularly use a foldable under harsh lighting. The choice makes the most sense for buyers already invested in iOS continuity and willing to verify the announced product’s real-world availability.

Choose the Pixel 10 Pro Fold when multitasking and a large cover screen are priorities
The Pixel combines a 6.4-inch outer display, an 8-inch inner display, adjustable split-screen and drag-and-drop. Google’s stated hinge longevity and IP68 rating are useful evidence, but they remain manufacturer claims. Its 20x Super Res Zoom may suit people who value computational reach more than a dedicated optical telephoto.
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold7 when you want a dedicated 3x telephoto and One UI features
The Fold7 pairs the largest listed cover display, an 8-inch inner screen and a dedicated 3x optical telephoto. Its IP48 rating has a different protection scope from IP68, so do not infer equivalent dust or water resistance. Samsung’s AI features require a regional and carrier check.
8. A practical buying checklist
- Test the folded phone first: type, call, navigate and take a quick photo without opening it.
- Test the opened phone: run your real two-app combination, drag text or a file between apps and read a document in portrait and landscape.
- Inspect the display: check reflections, crease visibility, touch response and brightness under strong light.
- Match camera hardware to your subjects: decide whether a 2x crop, computational 20x zoom or dedicated 3x optical lens fits your photography.
- Translate the battery claim: compare your expected inner-screen time, cellular use and charging opportunities instead of headline numbers.
- Verify durability expectations: read the local warranty and service terms; an IP rating does not cover every hinge or impact failure.
- Confirm software availability: check region, carrier, model and operating-system requirements for AI, Pencil or other advertised features.
- Check dates and stock: Apple’s September 9, 2026 announcement says pre-orders begin October 16 and availability begins October 23, 2026. Those dates should be verified against current listings before purchase.
What the published specifications cannot tell you
No independent fold-cycle assessment, standardized camera shootout, common battery benchmark, current pricing comparison or confirmed retail-partner availability is established for these three phones here. The numbers above are useful for narrowing a shortlist, not for declaring a universal winner. A smaller screen may be easier to carry; a larger one may reduce app switching; a dedicated telephoto may matter more than extra megapixels; and a familiar software ecosystem may save more time than a modest difference in brightness.
Apple also announced an iPhone Duo Folio with an integrated kickstand. Treat it as an optional accessory decision and confirm local compatibility and availability rather than assuming it ships with the phone.
