The iPhone Duo is Apple’s first foldable iPhone, but it had not reached its announced retail availability date of October 23, 2026, as of the latest information used here. Its published specifications put it close to the Galaxy Z Fold8 in screen size and brightness, while the Pixel 10 Pro Fold offers a larger inner display and a triple rear-camera system. The more consequential differences are weight, operating system, camera configuration, and whether you want to wait for Apple’s foldable software and accessory support.
At a glance: iPhone Duo, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold
The figures below combine Apple’s stated specifications with published comparison databases. They are not independent test results. Pixel and Duo prices are PhoneArena’s US listings for 256 GB configurations, not universal prices; check the current price and configuration in your market before buying.

Duo and Fold8 are nearly the same size
Apple specifies a 7.6-inch inner screen and a 5.4-inch outer screen for Duo. 9to5Mac lists the Galaxy Z Fold8 at the same 7.6-inch inner size and a slightly larger 5.5-inch outer display. Both are listed at up to 3,000 nits peak outdoor brightness. The listed inner resolutions differ: 2670 × 1878 for Duo and 2448 × 1848 for Fold8.

Pixel provides more inner-screen area
PhoneArena lists the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s inner display at 8.0 inches, larger than the 7.6-inch panels listed for Duo and Fold8. A diagonal measurement alone does not establish how much usable space apps provide: aspect ratio, software layout, and app behavior also matter, and the cited comparisons do not establish matched app performance.
Crease visibility is not independently established
Apple says Duo’s inner display has a nano-texture finish intended to reduce glare and crease visibility. That is a manufacturer claim, not a finding about how the fold looks or feels in ordinary use. Independent evaluation of crease visibility and screen behavior was not available in the cited information.
Which phone is easier to carry?
The published figures make weight a clear specification difference: Duo is listed at 254 g and Galaxy Z Fold8 at 201 g, a 53 g gap. 9to5Mac lists their folded dimensions as follows:

| Folded dimensions | iPhone Duo | Galaxy Z Fold8 |
|---|---|---|
| Width × height × thickness | 84.1 × 117.8 × 11.3 mm | 81.9 × 123.9 × 9.7 mm |
These are published specifications, not a measure of how either phone feels in a pocket or in the hand. The cited comparison does not provide corresponding Pixel dimensions or weight, so it cannot support a three-way portability ranking.
How do the cameras differ?
Duo and Fold8 have two listed rear cameras
Apple specifies a 48 MP main camera and a 48 MP ultra-wide camera for Duo, with up to 2× optical-quality zoom. 9to5Mac lists the Fold8 with 50 MP wide and 50 MP ultra-wide cameras and the same 2× optical-quality zoom figure. The available specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos or video.
Pixel has a triple-camera configuration
PhoneArena lists a triple rear-camera system for Pixel 10 Pro Fold, compared with Duo’s two cameras. The cited comparison does not provide enough detail here to make a fair camera-by-camera assessment or judge image quality. For context, Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro specifications describe a dedicated telephoto camera with up to 8× optical-quality zoom; that is a different camera setup, not evidence of Duo’s performance.

What changes with software and accessories?
Duo runs iOS 27. Apple says the software is designed for foldable orientations and multitasking, but the published claims do not establish how well individual apps use the larger screen or how Duo’s multitasking compares with Android foldables. Your existing apps, devices, and services may therefore matter more than the operating-system label alone.

Apple says Apple Pencil (USB-C) support will arrive on Duo later in 2026. That gives the phone a stated stylus path for uses such as note-taking, sketching, and markup, but support timing and availability should be confirmed before purchase. The supplied comparison data does not establish equivalent stylus compatibility for the other phones.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is known about durability and battery?
Apple specifies a Grade 5 titanium frame, ceramic protection, IP68 splash, water, and dust resistance, and a dual-battery design with a custom vapor chamber. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not prove comparative hinge or screen durability, long-term reliability, or repair cost. The cited sources do not provide comparable durability testing or repair economics for the three phones.

- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[4]
- As stunning as it is strong: Pixel 11 Pro Fold’s ultra-durable composite back is lighter, stronger, and designed to be nearly impossible to crack[5,6]; and with scratch-resistant glass and an all-new hinge, it’s 3x stronger[5]

Apple’s UK product page claims up to 31 hours of video playback using Duo’s inner display and says fast wired charging reaches 50 percent in around 20 minutes. The playback figure is Apple’s stated video-use claim, not an independent mixed-use battery result. No matched battery test across these phones is established by the comparison data.
What do the prices and launch timing tell buyers?
PhoneArena lists the 256 GB US versions at $1,999 for Duo and $1,799 for Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Those are database listings rather than a guarantee of a current retail price; regional pricing, promotions, storage configuration, and availability can change the comparison. The cited data does not establish a Fold8 price for the same comparison.
Apple announced Duo on September 9, 2026. Preorders were announced to begin October 16, with general availability starting October 23, 2026. Since that availability date was still in the future as of the October 7 information used here, independent assessments of hinge feel, real-world camera output, sustained performance, app behavior, and durability were not yet established.
Which foldable should you choose?
- Consider waiting for Duo if you want an iPhone that opens into a larger screen, rely on iOS and Apple services, or expect to use Apple Pencil (USB-C) once support arrives. Weigh its listed 254 g weight and verify the price and accessory rollout when purchasing.
- Consider Galaxy Z Fold8 if you want a similarly sized inner display in a lighter published specification. Its 201 g listing is 53 g below Duo’s, but that comparison does not establish real-world comfort or durability.
- Consider Pixel 10 Pro Fold if a larger listed inner display and a triple-camera configuration are priorities. PhoneArena’s listed 256 GB US price is $200 below its Duo listing, but verify current local pricing and the full camera specifications before deciding.
Choose based on the operating system and apps you actually use, the size and weight you are willing to carry, and whether you can wait for post-launch testing. Screen and camera specifications describe hardware; they do not settle crease feel, photo quality, battery life in your routine, or long-term reliability.
