The iPhone 17 and Motorola moto g max 5G suit different priorities: Apple lists an OLED display, A19 chip and IP68 rating, while Motorola lists a larger LCD, a 7,000mAh battery, a headphone jack and memory-card support. A reliable price difference cannot be stated without a country and comparable current listings; the official specification pages consulted do not provide matched retail prices.
iPhone 17 vs moto g max 5G: specifications at a glance

Which display is better for you?
The iPhone 17 has the smaller screen but uses an OLED panel with a higher listed pixel density. Motorola’s 6.72-inch LCD is larger and also lists a 120Hz refresh rate. The iPhone’s refresh rate is described as adaptive up to 120Hz, while Motorola lists 120Hz. Screen size and refresh rate alone do not establish overall display quality; panel type, resolution, brightness and your preferred size matter too.
How do the cameras compare?
Apple lists 48MP main and ultra-wide rear cameras, with 2x optical-quality telephoto enabled by the main camera. Motorola lists a 50MP main and 8MP ultra-wide camera. These specifications describe camera hardware, not the quality of the resulting photos. Megapixel counts alone cannot determine which phone takes better pictures, and no side-by-side camera test is available here.

Battery capacity, charging and real-world runtime
Motorola lists a 7,000mAh battery and 30W TurboPower charging for the moto g max. Apple’s cited iPhone 17 specification page does not state battery capacity in mAh, so there is no comparable capacity figure in these sources. A larger stated capacity does not by itself prove longer runtime: no side-by-side battery test under consistent conditions is available.
Durability and everyday features
Apple rates iPhone 17 IP68 and specifies up to 6m of water exposure for up to 30 minutes under IEC 60529. Motorola lists the moto g max as IP64 and also cites MIL-STD-810H testing with qualifications in its support materials. These are manufacturer ratings, not guarantees against every kind of water, dust or impact damage. Follow each manufacturer’s care guidance.

Why a dependable price difference is not available
The cited iPhone specification page lists storage capacities but not a matched current local selling price, and Motorola’s specification page does not state a retail price. Without a target country and comparable live listings, a numerical price difference would be misleading. Availability and prices can change, and Motorola explicitly notes that certain specifications may vary by market.

To compare offers fairly, use the same country and check these details for each listing:
- Storage configuration and exact model or regional variant
- Unlocked or carrier-locked status
- Seller, stock status and date checked
- Whether taxes and delivery charges are included
- Warranty terms and whether the seller is authorized
Which phone fits your priorities?
Choose iPhone 17 if these specifications match your needs
- You prefer Apple’s OLED display, A19 platform or iOS ecosystem.
- You want the manufacturer-listed IP68 rating.
- You need the 256GB or 512GB storage options listed by Apple.
Consider moto g max if these features matter more
- You prefer a larger 6.72-inch display.
- You value the listed 7,000mAh battery, 30W charging or a 3.5mm headphone jack.
- You want memory-card support, subject to confirmation for your regional model.
These are fits based on published specifications, not claims about tested performance. Before choosing either phone, verify supported network bands and SIM compatibility for your country, then compare local prices for equivalent configurations and seller terms.
