The iPhone 17 Pro Max and vivo X300 Ultra take different approaches to flagship phones: Apple pairs a 6.9-inch display and three 48MP rear cameras with iOS, while vivo emphasizes a sharper, faster-refreshing screen and three ZEISS camera viewpoints, with optional telephoto extenders. The vivo India Store listing checked on October 7, 2026 showed ₹159,999 for the 16GB+512GB phone and ₹209,999 for its Photographer Kit. A current Apple price in the same market was not established, so there is no reliable like-for-like price difference to quote.
Quick comparison: iPhone 17 Pro Max vs vivo X300 Ultra
| Specification | Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max | vivo X300 Ultra |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.9-inch OLED; 2868×1320; up to 120Hz; Apple lists 3000 nits outdoor peak brightness. | 6.82-inch AMOLED; 3168×1440; 144Hz; vivo India lists 4500 nits local peak brightness. |
| Processor | A19 Pro; 6-core CPU, 6-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine. | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5; vivo India lists a 3nm chip with 8 CPU cores. |
| Rear cameras | 48MP main at 24mm, 48MP ultra-wide at 13mm, and 48MP telephoto at 100mm/4x; 200mm/8x optical-quality framing. | 50MP ultra-wide at 14mm, 200MP main at 35mm, and 200MP telephoto at 85mm; compatible extenders offer 200mm and 400mm-equivalent reach. |
| Battery and charging | Apple lists MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W. The product specifications cited here do not give a battery capacity. | vivo lists a 6,600mAh typical battery, 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. |
| Storage and weight | 256GB, 512GB, 1TB or 2TB; 233g. | India listing: 16GB+512GB; 232g in Eclipse Black or 237g in Victory Green. |
| Protection and SIM | IP68. The cited U.S. models use dual eSIM and do not support physical SIM cards. | India listing: IP68/IP69 and dual nano-SIM. |
| Software-update promise | The Apple specifications cited here do not state a support-duration promise. | vivo advertises five years of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. |
These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent head-to-head test results. Apple’s outdoor-brightness figure and vivo’s local-peak figure use different labels, so the numbers do not establish which screen is brighter in a controlled comparison. Likewise, megapixel counts and battery capacity alone do not prove camera quality or real-world endurance.
Price difference: what the listed prices do—and do not—show
On October 7, 2026, the vivo India Store displayed the 16GB+512GB X300 Ultra at ₹159,999 (MRP ₹199,999) and the Photographer Kit at ₹209,999 (MRP ₹229,999). These are dynamic India store prices, not global prices or permanent rates. The kit is a separate purchase option, so do not treat its price as the phone-only price.
A current iPhone 17 Pro Max price for the same market, storage tier, seller type and date was not established. That means the available figures cannot support a fair price gap or a universal claim about which phone costs less. For a local comparison, match the country, storage, tax treatment, seller and purchase date; also account for discounts, exchange offers and kit contents. Retailer prices shown by comparison sites can change and may refer to different configurations.

Performance: named chips, no verified winner
Apple specifies the A19 Pro with a 6-core CPU, 6-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. vivo’s India specifications identify the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 as a 3nm, 8-core CPU platform. Those descriptions tell you which processors each maker chose, but they do not provide a controlled basis for ranking overall speed, gaming, sustained performance or efficiency.
A third-party comparison page reports benchmark figures, but the available comparison evidence does not establish sufficiently validated, comparable test conditions to declare a performance winner. Treat chip names and core counts as specifications, not as a substitute for consistent testing of the workloads you care about.
Display: vivo has the higher listed resolution and refresh rate
The vivo India listing gives the X300 Ultra a 6.82-inch, 3168×1440 AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. Apple lists a larger 6.9-inch OLED panel at 2868×1320 and up to 120Hz. On listed resolution and maximum refresh rate, vivo has the higher figures; Apple’s screen is slightly larger by diagonal measurement.

Brightness needs more caution: Apple calls its 3000-nit figure outdoor peak brightness, while vivo calls 4500 nits a local peak. Since those labels and conditions are not shown as equivalent measurements, they should not be read as a direct brightness test or a guaranteed everyday viewing difference.

Camera comparison: familiar framing versus dedicated focal-length viewpoints
iPhone 17 Pro Max: 24mm main, 13mm ultra-wide and 100mm telephoto
Apple lists three 48MP rear cameras: a 24mm main camera, a 13mm ultra-wide and a 100mm 4x telephoto. It also describes 200mm, 8x framing as “optical-quality.” This gives the camera system a wide-to-telephoto range without the optional long-reach accessories described for vivo.
vivo X300 Ultra: 14mm, 35mm and 85mm, with optional extenders
vivo’s global product page lists a 50MP 14mm ultra-wide, a 200MP 35mm main camera and a 200MP 85mm telephoto. The 35mm main viewpoint is wider than a typical standard-camera framing, while the 85mm telephoto starts at a tighter perspective than Apple’s 100mm telephoto. Compatible vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender accessories are specified for 200mm- and 400mm-equivalent framing; the 400mm claim depends on the corresponding extender and a Camera app setting.
The extenders are tailored accessories for the X300 Ultra, not general-purpose phone lenses. They add reach as well as cost and equipment to carry. vivo’s India Store listed the Photographer Kit at ₹209,999 on October 7, 2026, but the listing alone does not establish that every accessory or configuration a buyer wants is included; check the current kit contents before purchasing.

Battery and charging: vivo’s stated capacity and charging rates are higher
vivo lists a 6,600mAh typical battery for the X300 Ultra, with 100W wired and 40W wireless charging. Apple’s cited iPhone specifications list MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W; they do not provide a battery capacity in the material compared here. These manufacturer figures favor vivo on stated capacity and charging rates, but they do not establish which phone lasts longer or how quickly either charges in real use. Battery life also depends on factors such as software, display settings, signal conditions and workload.
Storage, software and regional details to check
Storage configurations
Apple lists 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB options. The cited vivo India listing specifies 16GB RAM with 512GB storage. Match storage tiers before comparing local prices, and confirm that the version sold in your market has the configuration you expect.
Software support
vivo advertises five years of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the X300 Ultra. The Apple technical specifications cited here do not state an equivalent duration; that absence is not evidence that Apple support is shorter.

SIM, connectivity and warranty vary by region
The cited Apple specifications are for U.S. models A3256 and A3257, which use dual eSIM and have no physical SIM compatibility. vivo’s India listing specifies dual nano-SIM. These details should not be generalized to every country’s version. Confirm the exact regional SKU, supported network bands, SIM format, warranty and software build with the seller or the manufacturer’s local specifications before buying.
Which phone should you choose?
Consider the vivo X300 Ultra if…
- You want the higher listed display resolution and refresh rate, or value vivo’s stated battery capacity and charging rates.
- You need dual nano-SIM in a market where that configuration is sold.
- You want dedicated 14mm, 35mm and 85mm camera viewpoints and may use compatible long-range extenders.
- The India-market 16GB+512GB listing and its current local price fit your needs; check local availability and warranty if buying elsewhere.
Consider the iPhone 17 Pro Max if…
- You specifically want iOS or Apple-specific ecosystem functions and workflows.
- You prefer Apple’s listed 24mm, 13mm and 100mm camera arrangement and its 200mm optical-quality framing claim without the vivo extender setup.
- You want the larger 6.9-inch display or an Apple-listed storage option above 512GB.
- Your local model’s SIM and carrier configuration suits you; the cited U.S. version is eSIM-only.
Neither choice is a proven overall winner from these specifications. Decide first which operating system, camera framing, regional SIM setup and accessories matter to you; then compare current local prices for matching configurations.
