The iPhone 17 Pro Max is a large conventional smartphone; the Galaxy Z Fold8 is a foldable that opens from a compact cover-screen phone into a larger viewing surface. Choose between them first by how you want to use the screen, then compare storage and region-specific pricing.
How their form factors change everyday use
iPhone 17 Pro Max: one large screen
Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max has a single 6.9-inch display. It is the more straightforward fit if you want a large-screen phone that remains a conventional slab rather than opening into a second, wider workspace. Apple lists a 233-gram weight. Apple’s technical specifications give the display and weight details.
Galaxy Z Fold8: cover screen plus unfolded screen
The Fold8 can be used closed on its cover display or unfolded to a larger inner screen. Samsung positions it around that shift between compact phone use and a broader viewing or work surface. Samsung’s U.S. product page describes the device’s foldable design: Explore Galaxy Z Fold8.
