The Galaxy S26 FE starts $200 below the iPhone 16 Pro in AT&T’s listed US retail prices, while offering a larger screen. The iPhone counters with a 5x telephoto camera and Apple’s iOS ecosystem. Which makes more sense depends on your preferred platform, storage tier, and whether you value screen size or camera reach more.
Price difference: compare the same market and storage
In the US, AT&T lists starting retail prices of $899.99 for the iPhone 16 Pro and $699.99 for the Galaxy S26 FE—a $200 gap. Those are carrier-specific starting prices, not universal live prices. AT&T also advertises installment offers, but its Samsung offer is conditional on a new line and eligible plan and uses bill credits over 36 months. Do not treat a promotional monthly amount as an unconditional device price. AT&T’s comparison
For a broader launch-price reference, TechRadar reported the following S26 FE prices by market and storage. These are launch prices, not current retail quotes:

Display: bigger viewing area or a more compact phone?
The S26 FE’s 6.7-inch display is 0.4 inches larger diagonally than the iPhone 16 Pro’s 6.3-inch screen. That extra space may suit video, reading, and larger on-screen controls, while the iPhone’s smaller panel may be preferable if you want a more compact device. The iPhone’s OLED display supports ProMotion up to 120Hz. TechRadar reports the S26 FE’s FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel can run at 60Hz or 120Hz.

Cameras: lens reach matters more than megapixel totals
The rear-camera arrangements are not identical. Apple lists a 48MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide, and a 12MP 5x telephoto on the iPhone 16 Pro. AT&T lists a 50MP wide, 12MP ultra-wide, and 8MP telephoto on the S26 FE. The iPhone’s listed 5x telephoto gives a clear specification advantage in stated optical reach; the cited S26 FE comparison does not specify its telephoto magnification.
Megapixel counts alone do not establish which phone takes better photos or video. The cited material does not provide a controlled, direct camera test of these two models, so it cannot support an overall image-quality winner. If camera quality is decisive, compare independent samples taken in similar lighting and at the focal lengths you use most.

Operating system and ecosystem
These phones belong to different platform families: the iPhone 16 Pro runs iOS with Apple’s A18 Pro chip, while AT&T identifies the S26 FE as an Android 17 phone with an Exynos 2500. If you already use an iPhone, Apple Watch, or other Apple devices, staying with iOS may be more convenient; Android may fit better if your apps, services, or devices are organized around that platform. The cited sources do not establish a comparable long-term update-support promise for both models, so check each manufacturer’s current regional support policy before buying on that basis.

Apple says the iPhone 16 Pro box includes the phone, a 1-meter USB-C charging cable, and documentation, but no power adapter or EarPods. Apple estimates charging to around 50% in about 30 minutes with a separately available 20W-or-higher adapter and cable, or with a 30W-or-higher adapter and MagSafe charger. Its MagSafe wireless charging is listed at up to 25W when paired with a 30W-or-higher adapter.
