The iPhone 14 Pro is a compact, conventional smartphone; Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a much newer foldable that opens into a tablet-sized screen. The key choice is whether that larger canvas is worth a foldable’s size and reported launch price—not which phone has the bigger specification numbers.

Which display better suits your use?
Choose the iPhone for a standard phone-sized screen
The iPhone’s single 6.1-inch display keeps the experience familiar: one screen, no hinge, and a smaller viewing area than either Fold display. Its 2556 × 1179 resolution and up-to-120Hz refresh rate are useful specifications, but they do not make it equivalent to the Fold’s larger unfolded workspace.
Choose the Fold for more room when opened
The Fold8 Ultra’s 8.0-inch inner screen is the defining difference for reading, watching video, or working across more content on screen. Its 6.5-inch cover display handles use while folded. Diagonal measurements do not tell the whole story: the two phones have different proportions, and the Fold’s inner screen adds a folding joint and moving hinge. If possible, handle it in person to judge whether the folded and unfolded forms suit you.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

The hardware differs, but the megapixel counts alone cannot establish which phone takes better pictures. Apple lists a 48MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide, and 12MP telephoto options at 2× and 3×. TechRadar lists a 200MP main, 50MP ultra-wide, and 10MP 3× optical telephoto for the Fold8 Ultra. No controlled head-to-head camera test is established here, so these specifications do not support a camera-quality winner.

What does the price difference evidence show?
TechRadar reported a U.S. starting price of $2,099.99 for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra at launch in 2026, with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations listed in its review. That is launch-price reporting, not a confirmed current sale price. Samsung said sales began August 7, 2026, in select markets, with expansion planned through carriers, retailers, Samsung.com, and Samsung Experience Stores; current stock and promotions depend on region. Samsung’s U.S. announcement
Apple’s INR 129,900 figure is the iPhone 14 Pro’s India launch price in 2022. It is not a current U.S. listing and cannot be subtracted from a 2026 U.S. launch price to produce a meaningful price gap. A current iPhone resale comparison needs listings matched for country, storage, condition, battery health, warranty, and unlocked or carrier-locked status.

Which one should you choose?
- Pick the iPhone 14 Pro if you want a conventional single-screen phone and do not need the Fold’s much larger unfolded display. Its current resale cost depends on the specific listing and condition.
- Pick the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if the larger inner screen is central to how you read, watch, or multitask, and you are comfortable with a foldable design and its reported launch price.
- Do not decide from camera megapixels or processor names alone. The available specifications establish hardware differences, not a tested winner in image quality or performance.
Fold-specific detail to know
TechRadar reports that the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra lacks S Pen digitizer support. If pen input is part of your intended use, that limitation matters even though the phone unfolds into a large display. The hinge and folding screen are also practical parts of the format to assess in person rather than infer from screen size alone.
