The iPhone 14 Pro Max is Apple’s large-screen Pro smartphone announced in 2022. It pairs a 6.7-inch-class OLED display with Dynamic Island and Always-On display, an A16 Bionic chip, and a rear-camera system led by a 48MP main camera.
What is the iPhone 14 Pro Max?
It is the largest Pro model in Apple’s iPhone 14 lineup. Apple announced it on 7 September 2022 and said it would be available from 16 September 2022. Apple’s launch announcement introduced Dynamic Island and Always-On display as headline features. “Pro Max” is the model name; Apple’s cited product information does not define a general meaning for that naming convention.
What are its main features?
Display and design
Apple lists a 6.7-inch diagonal OLED display with a resolution of 2796 × 1290 pixels, 460 pixels per inch, and adaptive ProMotion refresh rates up to 120Hz. The screen supports Always-On display, while Dynamic Island presents alerts and live activities around the front camera and sensor area. The display measures 6.69 inches diagonally when counted as a standard rectangle; its actual viewable area is smaller.

Chip and cameras
The iPhone 14 Pro Max uses Apple’s A16 Bionic chip. Its rear camera system comprises a 48MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP 3x telephoto camera. The main sensor also enables a 2x telephoto option. The front-facing TrueDepth camera is 12MP.

Battery and charging
Apple rates the phone for up to 29 hours of video playback, 25 hours of streamed video, or 95 hours of audio playback. These are manufacturer figures; Apple says actual battery life varies with network configuration, use, and settings.

Is the iPhone 14 Pro Max waterproof?
No. It is water-resistant, not waterproof. Apple says the phone passed controlled laboratory testing to IP68 under IEC 60529, at a maximum depth of 6 metres for up to 30 minutes. Apple also warns that resistance can decrease through wear and that liquid damage is not covered by the warranty.

Apple’s UK specifications page lists the phone, a USB-C to Lightning cable, and documentation; it says the package does not include a power adapter or EarPods. Box contents can differ by market or change over time, so check the package listing for the specific region and seller.
