The iPhone 15 Plus adds a 48MP main camera, Dynamic Island, a newer A16 Bionic chip and USB-C; the iPhone 14 Plus has a 12MP main camera, a notch, A15 Bionic and Lightning. Both have a 6.7-inch display and Apple’s published rating of up to 26 hours of video playback. At US launch, each started at $899, so the historical launch-price difference was $0. That is not a guide to current prices.

What is the difference between iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 15 Plus?
Display: same size, different interface and brightness
Both phones use a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display, so the viewing area is the same nominal size. The 15 Plus replaces the 14 Plus’s notch with Dynamic Island, which displays alerts and ongoing activities around the front camera area. Resolution changes only slightly: Apple lists 2796 × 1290 pixels at 460 ppi for the 15 Plus and 2778 × 1284 pixels at 458 ppi for the 14 Plus.
Apple Germany lists the 15 Plus at 1,000 nits typical brightness and 1,600 nits HDR peak brightness; for the 14 Plus it lists 800 nits typical and 1,200 nits HDR peak. Apple also gives the 15 Plus a 2,000-nit peak outdoor brightness figure, while its comparison does not list an outdoor peak figure for the 14 Plus. The missing figure is not evidence that the older phone cannot be used outdoors.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.7inch Super Retina XDR display. Aluminum with color-infused glass back. Ring/Silent switch
- Dynamic Island. A magical way to interact with iPhone. A16 Bionic chip with 5-core GPU
- Advanced dual-camera system. 48MP Main | Ultra Wide. Super-high-resolution photos (24MP and 48MP). Next-generation portraits with Focus and Depth Control. 4X optical zoom range
- Emergency SOS via satellite. Crash Detection. Roadside Assistance via satellite
- Up to 26 hours video playback. USB C, Supports USB 2. Face ID
Chip: A16 Bionic versus A15 Bionic
The 15 Plus has Apple’s A16 Bionic chip, one generation newer than the A15 Bionic in the 14 Plus. That establishes the hardware difference, but does not by itself quantify how much faster either phone is in a particular app or task; the sources here do not provide independent performance benchmarks.
Camera: a higher-resolution main camera and a 2x option
The 14 Plus has 12MP main and ultra-wide rear cameras. The 15 Plus pairs a 48MP main camera with a 12MP ultra-wide camera. Apple describes the newer camera system as providing a 2x telephoto option. This is a framing option from the camera system, not a separate, dedicated telephoto lens.

Connector: Lightning versus USB-C
The 14 Plus uses Lightning and the 15 Plus uses USB-C. If switching from the 14 Plus, check that your existing cables and accessories work with USB-C, and confirm what is included in the specific phone listing rather than assuming it comes with a particular cable or wall adapter.

Apple’s published dimensions show the phones are very close in size. The 14 Plus is 160.8 mm high, 78.1 mm wide, 7.80 mm thick and weighs 203 g; the 15 Plus is 160.9 mm high, 77.8 mm wide, 7.80 mm thick and weighs 201 g. Apple rates both for up to 26 hours of video playback. That is a manufacturer maximum specification, not a controlled, real-world comparison of battery life.

iPhone 14 Plus vs iPhone 15 Plus price difference
For the United States, the launch prices were identical: Apple announced the 14 Plus at $899 before trade-in in 2022 and the 15 Plus at $899 for its 128GB entry configuration in 2023. The launch-price difference is therefore $0. Apple announced 128GB, 256GB and 512GB configurations for both models.
Those historical figures do not establish what either phone costs now. Current prices depend on country, seller, storage, condition and availability; current listings and stock have not been verified here. Compare local listings at the same storage capacity and condition, and account for seller warranty and return terms before making a price-based choice.

Which Plus model should you choose?
Choose iPhone 15 Plus if its specific upgrades matter to you
- You want USB-C rather than Lightning.
- You prefer Dynamic Island to the older notch design.
- You want the 48MP main camera and its camera-system 2x option.
- You value the brighter display figures Apple publishes for the newer model.
Consider iPhone 14 Plus when the verified listing makes it worthwhile
The 14 Plus retains the same 6.7-inch screen size and the same published maximum video-playback rating. It may make sense if a current, local listing is sufficiently less expensive for the storage, condition and seller protections offered. Since current prices were not verified, that value judgment depends on comparing actual offers rather than assuming the older model is cheaper.
