There is no evidence-based universal winner between IONOS and Simply.com. Simply.com may suit a small site seeking straightforward shared hosting, while IONOS documents more WordPress and developer features and advertises 24/7 support. The best choice depends on the price you will pay after the introductory term, the exact plan limits, where your audience and data need to be, and how you want to contact support.

How the two hosts differ

The comparison is not simply a question of which provider advertises the most features. Simply.com’s US-facing page makes its entry and renewal prices and tier allowances visible. IONOS emphasizes included services, infrastructure and WordPress tooling. Those differences matter only if they match your site’s needs and the terms available in your country.

  • For simple shared hosting: Simply.com’s listed tiers show specific server-space, mail-storage and RAM allowances, plus WordPress tools.
  • For WordPress features and developer access: IONOS lists preinstalled WordPress and SSH, SFTP and WP-CLI access on its WordPress page.
  • For support: IONOS advertises 24/7 support. Simply.com’s US-facing plan page lists form/ticket support on Basic and Standard, and phone support on Pro; its About page gives weekday phone hours.
  • For European location preferences: Simply.com says its data centres are primarily in Denmark and elsewhere in Europe. Check the specific service and contract if data location is a requirement.

Neither provider’s uptime or speed claims establish independently verified performance. The available material does not provide a reproducible, like-for-like head-to-head test.

Compare the actual term cost, not just the entry price

Simply.com’s US-facing page lists these monthly prices and allowances. Its first-year prices differ substantially from renewal prices, so calculate the cost over the period you expect to keep the service. These are the page’s displayed US-facing terms; location, billing term and offers can change. Confirm the full amount and renewal conditions at checkout.

Simply.com tier First year Renewal Server space Mail-account space RAM Listed support
Basic Suite US$0.59/month US$8.94/month 10 GB 2 GB 512 MB Form/ticket
Standard Suite US$0.64/month US$16.74/month 20 GB 8 GB 1024 MB Form/ticket
Pro Suite US$3.60/month US$25.20/month 100 GB 16 GB 1536 MB Phone

Simply.com also lists unlimited traffic, PHP or ASP.NET/.NET Core, Let’s Encrypt SSL and WordPress tools on the page. Treat “unlimited” as a provider-listed plan feature, not proof that every workload is acceptable: review the plan’s terms and limits before relying on it.

The available IONOS pages describe included SSL, a domain and professional email on web-hosting plans, but do not establish a comparable price or allowance for a specific plan here. Compare the IONOS offer in your country against Simply.com’s full initial and renewal costs, including the billing period and any services you would otherwise buy separately.

Check whether the plans fit your site

Storage and email

For Simply.com, the listed server space ranges from 10 GB on Basic to 100 GB on Pro, while mail-account space ranges from 2 GB to 16 GB. Decide how much room your site files, backups and email need, and check whether the plan’s stated allowance applies per account, site or another unit in the current terms. The available IONOS material does not give equivalent storage or mailbox figures, so compare the exact plans rather than assuming parity.

Site count, traffic and scaling

Before choosing either provider, verify the site count, traffic policy, resource limits and upgrade path for the specific plan. The cited pages do not establish comparable site-count or scaling limits, and a general “unlimited traffic” label does not answer how a host handles resource-intensive sites. A brochure feature should not substitute for checking the plan’s terms against your expected workload.

WordPress and developer access

IONOS’s WordPress page describes WordPress as preinstalled and advertises AI tools, a domain, SSL, email, SSH/SFTP/WP-CLI access and PHP 8.2–8.4. It also lists automated updates, DDoS shielding, geo-redundancy and ISO-certified data centres. These are product-page statements; confirm current PHP versions, inclusions and plan limits before signing up.

Simply.com lists WordPress tools and says on its About page, “Our products are created for WordPress.” That is the company’s positioning, not a substitute for checking the exact WordPress workflow and limits you need. If you depend on command-line access, deployment tooling or a particular PHP version, confirm those details for the plan rather than inferring them from a general hosting offer.

Support channels and data-centre location

IONOS advertises 24/7 support and mentions a free personal consultant on its web-hosting page. These are provider claims; check what contact methods and assistance are included in the plan you are considering.

Simply.com’s US-facing plan page lists form/ticket support for Basic and Standard, and phone support for Pro. Its About page lists weekday phone hours of 9:00 AM–3:30 PM and says it is closed on weekends. Because the pages may describe different locations or offers, verify the relevant hours and channel for your country and plan.

Simply.com says it is part of team.blue and that its data centres are primarily in Denmark and elsewhere in Europe. That may matter if European hosting locations are useful to you, but the general statement does not establish where a particular account’s data will reside. Ask the provider for the applicable location and terms if residency is a contractual or regulatory requirement.

How much weight should performance comparisons carry?

IONOS advertises uptime above 99.99%, geo-redundant infrastructure and other resilience features. These statements describe the provider’s offer; they are not independent measurements of the availability a customer will experience.

HostAdvice’s comparison, marked updated January 27, 2026, reports a 1.5-second fully loaded time and 96% GTmetrix grade for IONOS, versus 2.9 seconds and 76% for Simply.com. Those are HostAdvice’s reported figures. The available information does not establish reproducible methods or matching plans and test conditions, so they should not be treated as a controlled verdict on how either host will perform for your site.

For a decision based on speed, look for measurements that disclose the plan, site configuration, test location, measurement method and test period. A result from one configuration may not predict another site’s experience.

Which host should you choose?

Choose Simply.com if

  • You want to compare a clearly listed shared-hosting tier against your needs for storage, mail space and RAM.
  • You are considering the introductory offer but have checked whether the renewal price fits your budget over the full term.
  • The support channel on your selected tier and the provider’s stated European data-centre footprint suit your preferences.

Consider IONOS if

  • You want the WordPress features it lists, including preinstallation and SSH/SFTP/WP-CLI access, subject to confirming those features on the current plan.
  • 24/7 support and the advertised domain, SSL and professional email inclusions are important to your comparison.
  • You have verified the actual country-specific price, renewal terms, allowances and service limits for the IONOS plan against the Simply.com alternative.

Whichever provider you shortlist, compare like with like: the same contract period, comparable hosting type, included services, resource limits and support needs. If performance is decisive, rely on well-documented measurements for comparable configurations rather than treating vendor uptime claims or an opaque comparison as proof.
