A rate-limit error can stop an Instagram giveaway picker from retrieving comments, but the failure alone does not reveal which limit was reached. Meta documents separate Graph API platform limits and business-use-case limits; the applicable rules depend on the API surface, endpoint, and token. To diagnose a particular interruption, check the response and usage information rather than assuming that every failed request has the same cause.
Why can an Instagram giveaway picker hit a rate limit?
A picker that retrieves Instagram comments through an API makes requests subject to Meta’s limits. But “Instagram rate limit” is not one universal ceiling: Meta distinguishes Graph API platform limits from business-use-case limits. Which regime applies depends on the API, endpoint, and token. Meta’s Graph API rate-limit documentation describes these categories and their associated usage information.
Meta’s surfaced documentation says Graph API requests are subject to platform limits, while Marketing API and Instagram Platform requests are subject to business-use-case limits. It describes Instagram Platform endpoint calls other than messaging as counted per app and app-user pair over a rolling 24-hour window, with an allowance calculated as 4,800 × Number of Impressions. This formula applies to the documented context; it should not be treated as a universal allowance for every Instagram request or endpoint.

How can you tell whether the failure was rate limiting?
Start with the actual API response. Meta’s documentation identifies error code 80002 for Instagram business-use-case rate limiting. A generic failure message, timeout, or unsuccessful picker run is not enough on its own to establish that this limit caused the problem.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For a useful diagnosis, preserve the details of the failed request:
- The endpoint, HTTP method, and API version.
- The token type used for the request.
- The timestamp and request cadence, including preceding requests.
- The HTTP status and full error code and subcode in the response.
- Any rate-limit or usage headers returned with the response.
Compare the response and usage information with the limits documented for that specific API surface and endpoint. Without those details, it is not possible to identify the triggering request, determine which limit applied, or say how long access was affected.

What should you do after a limit is reached?
- Stop making API calls. Meta’s guidance is direct: “When the limit has been reached, stop making API calls.” Continuing to call can increase the call count and delay when requests begin succeeding again.
- Inspect the response and usage information. Use the returned error and applicable headers to understand which limit is involved and whether usage remains above its threshold.
- Wait for the threshold to clear before resuming. Meta advises checking usage and waiting rather than repeatedly retrying. The documentation cited here does not establish a universal retry interval or a typical wait time.
- Record the next attempt. Keep its timestamp and response alongside the earlier failure so you can see whether the limit cleared or whether a different error is occurring.
Do not apply an endpoint’s documented formula to another endpoint without checking the current documentation for that API surface. Limits and usage details are contextual, so a retry strategy should respond to the observed error and usage rather than rely on a guessed fixed delay.
Are Instagram giveaway comment pickers allowed?
A picker’s use of a comment URL, or a description such as “URL-only,” does not establish how it retrieves comments or whether its method complies with Meta’s terms. The relevant details include its supported Instagram API access method, account and token requirements, comment retrieval and pagination behavior, and how it handles rate limits. The information available here does not establish that any particular picker is compliant or noncompliant; check Meta’s current rules and the picker’s own documentation before relying on it.
