Inpulse is a precision platformer where collected musical notes become movement abilities: you fire them to propel Flute through the air, and the order you use them shapes your route. Steam’s demo listing describes a substantial preview, but its captured release and availability messages conflict, so check the live page before expecting to download it.
How music controls movement in Inpulse
Inpulse, developed and published by Shelljump according to its Steam demo listing, casts the player as Flute, a shapeshifting creature. Rather than serving only as background, music is built into the platforming: collect notes, then fire them outward as movement ammunition.

Each note type has its own movement mechanic, tone, and color. Effects can stack, and the sequence of notes changes the resulting melody and movement pattern. That makes note choice a route-planning decision: the available sequence can affect how you cross a gap or continue through the air. Steam’s full-game listing describes seven note types; the demo listing covers the first three.
Sound also serves as feedback. Steam says notes harmonize with the music and that sound effects adjust dynamically, allowing players to hear correct and incorrect inputs. The full-game page describes one evolving piece of music per world, with more of the track unlocking as levels progress. These are store-page descriptions, not independently verified playtest findings.

What the Inpulse demo includes
Steam’s demo page advertises the following content. These are listing details, not results from an independent playthrough.
- The first two worlds, with 66 campaign levels.
- More than 15 sample levels made with the in-game editor.
- The first three note types and a preview of the third world.
- Access to the editor after reaching world 2.
- Three challenging environments, nine editable tile sets, and backgrounds for custom levels.
How the game helps with difficult levels
Steam advertises several practice and replay tools: a full replay for each level, a DDR-style input screen, emulator-style save states, half- or quarter-speed play, and user-recordable replays compatible with save states. These features let players review timing and inputs or practice at a slower pace; they do not guarantee that the precision platforming will be easy.

What you can make with the editor
The editor is integrated into the game. Steam says players can pause to modify a level, work with Photoshop-style layers, export a level image, draw on it, and hotload the edited image back into the game. A level file can also include a song and musical scale, which the game uses to adjust sound effects to the composition.

The demo and full game have separate Steam listings, so their content and release information should not be conflated. The demo listing gives the scope and PC requirements below; the base-game listing describes broader features and currently says the release date is “To be announced.” The full-game page describes seven note types, while the demo page advertises the first three.

The Steam demo page captured on October 13, 2026, lists a release date of October 12, 2026, but also says the demo is not yet available and is expected to unlock in approximately two days. Those messages conflict. Check the live Steam demo page for current availability rather than relying on either captured message. The demo’s listed date is not the full game’s launch date; the separate full-game listing says “To be announced.”
