Neither InMotion Hosting nor HostPapa is a proven overall winner from the available evidence. InMotion’s shared plans stand out for their published website and NVMe storage limits, while HostPapa emphasizes a bundled site-launch offer and publishes renewal totals. Choose by matching the exact plan, billing term, renewal cost, included features, and refund conditions to your needs—not by comparing a promotional rate with a different plan’s regular price.

How the two hosts differ

Both providers sell shared hosting, but their plan pages present different combinations of capacity, tools, and billing terms. The table summarizes what each provider publicly lists; features and offers may vary by plan, term, and checkout region.

Decision factor InMotion Hosting HostPapa
Shared plan lineup Launch, Power, and Pro Essentials, Growth, Premium, and Elite
Published site and storage limits Launch: 2 sites and 100 GB NVMe; Power: 10 sites and 200 GB; Pro: 40 sites and 300 GB. All three display unmetered bandwidth. Plan-dependent site limits and NVMe storage; check the selected tier’s current plan details.
Pricing structure Displayed plan pricing is a snapshot; confirm the billing term and renewal amount in checkout. The advertised $2.95/month introductory rate is tied to a discounted three-year term and renews at the regular rate.
Refund window 90-day money-back guarantee, subject to domain-credit and registration-fee conditions. 30-day money-back guarantee for service; domain fees are non-refundable.
Highlighted tools and services cPanel, one-click installs, a website builder, data-center choice, SSH, free SSL, malware protection, and backup manager availability; features vary by plan. Hosting, WordPress hosting, domains, business email, a drag-and-drop builder, security, and 24/7 support are promoted as part of its offering.

What will you actually pay?

HostPapa: separate the introductory offer from renewal

HostPapa’s plan page ties its displayed $2.95 per month offer to a discounted three-year term and says plans renew at the regular rate. That figure is not a month-to-month price, nor does it establish the cost of every tier. Compare the total paid for the initial term with the renewal total for the same service and term before buying. See HostPapa’s plan terms.

HostPapa’s US-dollar renewal table, last modified March 24, 2026, gives these examples. The entries use different service labels and billing periods, so they are not directly comparable monthly prices:

Service label in HostPapa table Listed renewal total Billing period
Basic Hosting Plan $19.82 1 month
Starter Hosting Plan $111.83 1 year
Business Hosting Plan $391.77 1 year
Business Premium Hosting Plan $899.64 3 years

These are specific entries in the provider’s US-dollar table, not a guarantee that a customer’s current plan or regional checkout will use the same label or total. Match your exact plan name, currency, and billing period against the HostPapa renewal price table.

InMotion: verify the term and renewal at checkout

InMotion’s shared-hosting page displays plans and features, but a headline or displayed price should not be treated as a durable monthly cost. Confirm the billing term, renewal amount, currency, and any add-ons in the checkout flow for the plan you intend to buy. A September 15, 2026 TechRadar roundup lists InMotion shared hosting at $18.99–$25.99 per month, but that is a third-party snapshot; verify the offer and its terms directly with the provider. For either host, compare the total cost over the same period. Currency and geography, introductory discounts, renewal pricing, optional services, and domain charges can all change what appears at checkout.

Which plan fits your site capacity needs?

InMotion: stated limits across three tiers

InMotion publishes a clear progression for its shared plans: Launch supports 2 websites with 100 GB NVMe storage, Power supports 10 with 200 GB, and Pro supports 40 with 300 GB. All three display unmetered bandwidth. The provider also lists plan-dependent features such as eCommerce readiness, advanced caching, support channels, and email storage. Check the current plan comparison for the exact tier’s allowances rather than assuming every feature is included throughout the lineup. InMotion’s shared-hosting comparison.

HostPapa: check the selected tier’s allowances

HostPapa lists four shared plans, with site limits, storage, CDN, staging, security, SSL, migration, and automated-backup provisions varying by tier. Its plan descriptions should be checked individually, especially for backup size, how long backups are included, and eligibility conditions. Do not assume a higher-tier backup allowance applies to Essentials or another lower tier. HostPapa’s plan descriptions.

How do the bundles and developer tools compare?

HostPapa’s positioning is broader than hosting alone: it promotes WordPress hosting, domains, business email, a drag-and-drop builder, security, and 24/7 expert support. Those are provider descriptions, not independent assessments of support quality. Confirm which services are included in your chosen plan and which may cost extra.

InMotion lists cPanel, one-click installs, a website builder, WP-CLI, PHP 8, choice of data center, SSH, free SSL, malware protection, and backup manager availability. Several features are plan-dependent, so verify availability before treating them as included. For a developer who values SSH, WP-CLI, or a data-center choice, these listed capabilities may be useful; a first-time site owner may care more about a builder, email, migration, and the all-in-one package. What do the refund guarantees cover?

InMotion’s 90-day guarantee and domain conditions

InMotion advertises an “Industry Leading 90-Day Full Money-Back Guarantee.” Its page says the domain credit applies only to eligible domains and select extensions on 12-, 24-, or 36-month terms, and only for the first year. If hosting is canceled during the guarantee period, the regular domain price is deducted from the hosting refund; domain registration fees are non-refundable. Read InMotion’s guarantee terms.

HostPapa’s service guarantee and domain fees

HostPapa states that its money-back guarantee covers service for 30 days and that domain fees are non-refundable. Treat the service refund and domain registration as separate costs when considering cancellation. HostPapa’s homepage.

Does performance evidence show which host is faster?

No apples-to-apples test in the available evidence establishes a faster host. TechRadar tested HostPapa’s cheapest shared plan with a pre-built WooCommerce site using Siege. The review reports availability of 100.00% at five concurrent users, 100.00% at nine, and 95.64% at fifteen. It says the tested plan handled nine concurrent users with 100% successful transactions; at fifteen, some transactions failed and took longer to complete. This is one test configuration, not a service guarantee, and there is no comparable InMotion test in that review evidence. TechRadar’s HostPapa review.

Storage technology labels such as NVMe do not substitute for matched performance tests. A meaningful comparison would need the same type of site, configuration, load, test method, and comparable plans.

Which host should you choose?

  • Lean toward InMotion if its published site and storage tiers map neatly to your needs, or if you value listed tools such as SSH, WP-CLI, and data-center choice. Confirm the exact plan’s feature set, term price, and renewal cost.
  • Lean toward HostPapa if its broader hosting-and-launch bundle suits your project and you are comfortable evaluating the three-year introductory term against the regular renewal rate. Check your chosen tier’s storage, backup conditions, and service inclusions.
  • Do not choose on speed claims alone. The cited test covers HostPapa only and cannot establish a winner against InMotion.

Before committing, compare the same billing duration and currency, the renewal total, site and storage limits, backups and retention, included email and security, support channels, migration terms, and the refund treatment of domain fees.
