Infinity Legends (Palladium) runs on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge. To host it reliably, download the versioned server pack for the same release your players install, run it on Java 17, allocate about 8 GB of RAM as a practical starting point, and keep every client and server component on the identical pack, Minecraft and Forge versions. The dedicated package includes the mod files, configurations and startup script needed for a Forge server.

What Infinity Legends (Palladium) is

Infinity Legends (Palladium) is a large Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge modpack by BrenimDibre. Its design combines RPG progression, exploration, combat and PvP, and questing rather than adding one isolated mechanic. The official project description highlights custom quests, exclusive progression, boss encounters, superpower systems, Infinity Stones, Ben 10 content, Lantern-themed abilities and Ad Astra space exploration.

CurseForge project metadata identifies V6.1 as the latest release uploaded on October 9, 2026. The project had 108,143 downloads when that metadata was checked. Those figures describe the project listing, not a guarantee that every third-party host or server panel has already imported V6.1. Always verify the release number shown in the launcher and in the server download you select.

Version and server-pack choices

Think of the client and server as one matched distribution. A player using a different pack release, Minecraft version, Forge build or mod set can fail to connect, see registry mismatches, or trigger instability. Select one release first, then obtain both sides from that release.

V6.1 project release Minecraft 1.20.1; Forge-based pack Latest project metadata release, uploaded October 9, 2026 Use only if a matching V6.1 server package is available from the project or your host.
serverpack-5.6.zip Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge 1.3 GB; uploaded October 1, 2026 Download this exact server archive when your clients are running V5.6.
serverpack-5.4hotfix Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge 1.4 GB; listed on the V5.4 hotfix page Use only with V5.4 hotfix clients, not with V5.6 or V6.1.

The two 2026 server archives illustrate why a filename and release number matter: their sizes and contents are not interchangeable. A newer project listing does not make an older server archive compatible with it, and a hotfix is not a generic “latest” download.

What you need before installation

Java runtime

The documented hosting workflow uses Java 17 for Forge 1.20.1. Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime on the server machine and confirm that the startup script calls that installation. If multiple Java versions are installed, an operating-system default may point to an older or newer runtime than the pack expects. Check the script and your terminal’s reported version before starting the world.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Use a 64-bit operating system and a 64-bit Java 17 runtime.
  • Keep Java’s executable available to the server account that will run Forge.
  • Do not assume a client-side Java setting automatically applies to a dedicated server.

Memory and hardware

A pack-specific hosting guide recommends about 8 GB of allocated RAM. That is a practical recommendation for the documented workflow, not a universal developer minimum or a promise that every player count and dimension load will fit in exactly 8 GB. Infinity Legends combines many mods, quests, bosses and dimensions, so required memory rises with concurrent players, exploration and loaded chunks.

  • Reserve memory for the operating system and background services; do not give the Java process every gigabyte in the machine.
  • Use a fast SSD where possible. World generation, dimension travel and repeated asset access are substantially less forgiving on a slow disk.
  • Prefer a recent multi-core CPU with strong single-thread performance, because server ticks still depend on work that cannot be spread perfectly across cores.
  • Plan additional headroom if several players will explore separate areas or use space and other additional dimensions simultaneously.

Network access

For a normal internet-facing Java server, the documented port is TCP 25565. You must permit that port in the host firewall and, when the machine sits behind a home router, forward it to the server’s local IP address. You may deliberately choose another port, but then the server configuration, firewall rule, router rule and the address supplied to players must all use the same value.

Download the correct dedicated-server files

  1. Choose the exact Infinity Legends release your group will play. Record its release number, Minecraft version and Forge version before downloading anything.
  2. On the release’s CurseForge page, select the versioned server pack, not the regular client archive. The server package is the distribution intended for a dedicated installation.
  3. Check the filename and release label. For example, serverpack-5.6.zip is a V5.6 package; serverpack-5.4hotfix belongs to the V5.4 hotfix line.
  4. Save the archive locally and verify that its download completed before extracting it. The V5.6 archive is listed at 1.3 GB and the V5.4 hotfix archive at 1.4 GB, so an unexpectedly tiny file usually indicates an incomplete download.
  5. Keep a copy of the archive alongside your installation notes. It makes a clean rebuild possible if a configuration change or update goes wrong.

The server-pack workflow described for Infinity Legends includes mod jars, configuration files and a start script. Do not build a server by copying a few jars from a client profile and guessing which configuration files are required; that can omit server-specific settings or leave client-only files in the wrong place.

Self-host an Infinity Legends server

1. Create a clean server directory

Make a dedicated directory such as InfinityLegends-Server on the SSD. Give the account that will run Forge read, write and execute access to this directory. Keeping the server separate from your personal client profile simplifies backups and prevents a launcher update from silently changing the live world.

2. Extract the matching server pack

Extract the complete archive into the new directory rather than opening it and copying only a few folders. Preserve the directory structure supplied by the pack. The included start script is part of the intended installation and may reference Forge libraries or JVM arguments that are not obvious from the top-level files.

3. Review the startup script and configuration

Open the supplied script in a text editor before running it. Confirm that it invokes Java 17, points to the intended Forge server files, and uses a memory setting appropriate for the machine. Do not replace the script with a generic Forge command until you understand what the pack’s script is doing; pack authors may include required arguments or setup steps.

Review the configuration files for the server address, port, difficulty, whitelist and other settings you intend to change. Make one change at a time and retain the original file so you can revert a bad setting without reinstalling the pack.

4. Accept the Minecraft EULA

Start the supplied script once from a terminal or console. The first run may stop after generating files and displaying the Minecraft EULA requirement. Read the EULA, then change the generated EULA setting to accept it only if you agree to Minecraft’s terms. Start the script again after saving the change.

5. Let Forge generate the world

On the first successful run, Forge creates libraries, logs and world data. The process can take longer than a lightly modded server, especially while dimensions and structures are initialized. Wait for the console to report that the server is ready before attempting to connect. Stop the process cleanly from the console rather than closing the window, so pending world writes finish.

6. Configure access for friends

For a private group, enable the whitelist and add each player’s exact Minecraft name. Give operator privileges only to people who need administrative commands. Keep the server console and world directory private; anyone who can edit them can change permissions, install files or alter the world.

7. Open the network path

  1. Assign the host machine a stable local IP address, preferably through your router’s DHCP reservation.
  2. Allow inbound TCP 25565 in the operating-system firewall.
  3. Forward TCP 25565 on the router to the server machine’s local IP.
  4. Have a friend outside your home network test the public address. Testing from inside the same network can fail on routers that do not support hairpin connections even when the internet rule is correct.
  5. If you choose a different port, repeat the same value in the server configuration, firewall, router and client connection instructions.

Never expose administrative panel credentials or file-sharing services merely to make Minecraft reachable. Only the game port should be forwarded for ordinary play.

Join the server from a client

Every player should install the same Infinity Legends release used by the server. Match all of the following:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Infinity Legends release number, such as V5.6 or the exact V6.1 distribution you selected
  • Minecraft 1.20.1
  • Forge version bundled with that release
  • All mod files and configuration files supplied by the matching client and server packages

In the multiplayer screen, add the server’s public address and port. Players on the same local network can use the host’s local address; internet players need the public address unless you use a managed networking solution. A mismatch commonly appears as a missing-mod, registry or protocol error rather than a clear “wrong release” message, so compare version labels before changing files.

RAM allocation and performance planning

Why 8 GB is a starting point, not a guarantee

The 8 GB figure comes from the pack-specific hosting workflow. It is useful as an initial allocation for a small group, but actual usage depends on player count, view and simulation distances, world-generation activity, entity counts and how many dimensions are active. Allocating more memory than the machine can physically sustain causes swapping and can make lag worse.

Leave operating-system headroom and watch the server’s memory behavior during normal play. A steadily rising allocation accompanied by long garbage-collection pauses indicates pressure; a server that has abundant free memory but low tick performance may instead be CPU-, disk- or entity-bound.

Reduce load without removing mods

  • Pre-generate or explore important areas during a quiet period so several players do not generate new terrain simultaneously.
  • Keep view and simulation distances conservative until you know how the machine handles the chosen player count.
  • Limit unnecessary chunk loaders and large entity farms.
  • Use the performance options and configuration files shipped with the release before adding unofficial optimization mods.
  • Record a baseline: player count, memory use, tick behavior and the dimensions being explored. Change one setting, then measure again.

Do not remove a mod independently from the client or server as a first performance experiment. Dependencies, registries and saved data can make a seemingly optional removal prevent the world from loading.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Updating safely

  1. Read the target release notes and confirm that a server pack exists for the release you want.
  2. Schedule downtime and tell players to stop logging in.
  3. Stop the old server cleanly from its console.
  4. Copy the entire world directory, server configuration directory and any scripts or permissions files to a separate backup location. Keep at least one backup that is not inside the live server folder.
  5. Install the new server pack in a separate directory. Do not overwrite the only working installation.
  6. Apply only the configuration changes you understand, then start the new server and inspect the log for errors.
  7. Test with an administrator account before inviting the whole group. Confirm spawn, quests, dimensions, inventories and key progression systems.
  8. Require every player to update to the identical client release before reconnecting.

Recent release notes for Infinity Legends describe server-crash and lag fixes, repeated texture loading that could lead to crashes, artifact corrections and changes to performance mods. Updating both client and server to the same current release is therefore the first sensible troubleshooting action before changing JVM flags or deleting mods.

Common crash, lag and connection problems

The server stops during startup

  • Check Java first: verify that the script is using 64-bit Java 17, not a different system default.
  • Check the pack: confirm that every file came from the same server-pack release and that extraction was complete.
  • Check the log: identify the first error, not only the final “server stopped” line. The earliest missing dependency or invalid configuration is usually the useful clue.
  • Undo recent edits: restore the last known-good configuration or test a clean copy of the server pack with a backup of the world.

Players receive a missing-mod or registry mismatch

Compare the client and server release labels, Minecraft 1.20.1 status, Forge build and mod lists. Do not solve a mismatch by adding a random jar from another pack. Reinstall the matching client profile or rebuild the server from its exact versioned server archive.

The server crashes after players explore or change dimensions

Back up the world before further testing. Check whether the crash began after an update, a dimension transition, a large area of new generation or a texture-loading event. The release notes’ documented crash and performance fixes make a synchronized update worth trying. If the problem affects one area or player, test a copy of the world and inspect the relevant log rather than deleting live region files.

Tick lag, rubber-banding or long pauses

  • Check whether several players are generating terrain at once.
  • Reduce view and simulation distances temporarily.
  • Inspect entity counts, chunk loaders and active dimensions.
  • Confirm that the machine is not swapping and that the world is on adequate storage.
  • Increase resources only after identifying the bottleneck; more RAM cannot fix a saturated CPU or a network route that drops packets.

Friends cannot connect from the internet

  1. Confirm the server console shows it is listening on the intended port.
  2. Check the operating-system firewall rule for inbound TCP traffic.
  3. Verify the router forwards the same port to the server’s current local IP.
  4. Check whether your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, which can prevent inbound forwarding.
  5. Test from an external network and make sure players use the public address, not the private 192.168.x.x or similar address.

Self-hosting versus managed Infinity Legends hosting

Self-hosting and a managed Forge server solve different problems. Self-hosting gives the owner direct control, while a provider handles much of the machine and network administration. Neither option removes the requirement to match the pack release.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Decision area Self-hosted machine Managed host
Setup effort You install Java, extract Forge, run scripts, configure the firewall and router, and maintain the operating system. The provider typically supplies a control panel and an installation workflow; you still select and verify the exact pack release.
File and JVM control Full access to scripts, configs, backups and JVM arguments. Control depends on the plan and panel; some settings may be restricted.
Networking You manage public IP issues, port forwarding, firewall rules and home-network reliability. The provider normally supplies a public endpoint and handles the data-center network.
Backups You design, schedule and test your own copies and off-machine storage. Backup frequency, retention and restore tools vary by provider and plan; verify them before purchase.
Locations Limited to your home’s power, bandwidth and geographic location. You may choose from available data-center regions, subject to the provider’s inventory.
Updates You download and install every matching client and server release yourself. A panel may automate installation, but you remain responsible for selecting a compatible release and protecting the world.
Cost Uses existing hardware and electricity, with possible upgrade and bandwidth costs. Recurring monthly cost varies with RAM, CPU, storage, location, backups and support; current pricing must be checked directly.

FadeHost publishes a pack-specific Infinity Legends installation workflow, while CreeperHost advertises CurseForge setup for the pack. Treat those statements as service availability, not as a performance guarantee. Before ordering, confirm the exact supported release, allocated RAM and CPU, backup and restore policy, server location, panel access, update process, port handling and total recurring price.

Managed-hosting checklist

  • Ask which Infinity Legends release is currently installable and whether you can upload a different matching server pack.
  • Confirm that the advertised memory is dedicated to your server rather than shared or burst-only capacity.
  • Check CPU details, storage type, player limits and whether additional dimensions are included in the plan’s practical limits.
  • Read backup retention and restore procedures. A “backup” that cannot be downloaded or restored independently is a weaker safety net.
  • Verify where the server is located relative to your players and whether changing location requires migration.
  • Check whether you have file-manager, console, SFTP or equivalent access to edit configs and retrieve logs.
  • Ask how pack updates are staged and whether the panel preserves the world before changing files.
  • Confirm the final monthly total, renewal price, taxes and any separate charges for backups or extra storage.

Practical operating routine

Once the server is working, a small routine prevents most avoidable outages:

  1. Keep a written record of the active pack release, Minecraft version, Forge version, Java version and server port.
  2. Back up the world before every release change and before major configuration edits.
  3. Review logs after each update and after the first extended play session.
  4. Ask players to report the time, dimension, action and visible error when they experience a crash or lag spike.
  5. Maintain a staging copy for testing updates instead of experimenting on the only live world.
  6. Remove old backups only after confirming that a newer backup can be restored.

Following this process keeps Infinity Legends’ extensive quest, boss and dimension progression recoverable while giving you a clear path to diagnose Forge, Java, network and resource problems.
