The strongest free-to-play plan in Infinity Kingdom is not a supposedly perfect tier-list squad. Build one main march around Immortals you can obtain repeatedly, improve their stars and skills, keep the team’s element coherent with its Dragon, and delay expensive secondary marches until the first team clears your current content. Community guides commonly use cores featuring Alexander or Attila, Merlin and Zenobia, with Hippolyta and Yoshitsune as useful unlock targets; later Earth options include Cleopatra or Gilgamesh. These are dated examples, not guarantees that one lineup is best on every server, season or game mode.
The guide below separates official mechanics from community advice, shows how to choose a sustainable core, and gives an upgrade process that works even when your roster or summon routes differ.
What F2P team building actually means
Infinity Kingdom centers progression and combat on Immortals, their upgrades and elemental team mechanics. The official strategy hub treats Immortals and elements as core strategy subjects (GTarcade strategy page). For a free-to-play account, the practical question is not which five names look strongest on a community list. It is which group you can keep acquiring, star up and equip without diverting every resource into a new project.

F2P success therefore comes from sustainability: obtainable copies, reliable upgrade materials, a clear job in the content you are currently playing, and a main march that receives the majority of your investment.
What the available guides do—and do not—prove
A March 27, 2024 beginner guide on the official forum describes early progression through PvE activities including Gnomes, Gnome Bosses, Well of Time, Mysterium and Spider. It gives example teams and later upgrades, while warning that some routes or units are paid options (Beginner’s guide: Early Team Composition). Use its names as a progression template, not as a promise that every account can obtain them immediately.
A separate 2025 beginner guide recommends concentrating on one elemental team for long-term F2P progress (Guide for new player). That is experienced-player advice, not an official guarantee of competitiveness. A March 30, 2025 forum post discusses a Wind/Earth hybrid and places particular value on artifact upgrades (Meta Build: F2P Wind/Earth Hybrid going strong). It is one dated strategy option, not a universal replacement for a single-element team.

Choose a main march with four tests
1. Availability without a paid dependency
Check the current in-game route before committing. Can you obtain the Immortal from activities, events, shops or summons available to your account, or does the recommendation depend on a purchase or a limited season? The 2024 guide explicitly distinguishes some spender routes. A unit that is theoretically powerful but cannot be copied is a poor F2P anchor.
2. Upgrade reliability
Look beyond the first unlock. You need a realistic supply of copies or fragments so the Immortal’s stars and skills can continue improving. A slightly less fashionable unit that you can steadily advance will usually contribute more to a main march than a rare unit frozen at its initial state.

3. Elemental coherence
Compare the elements of your likely Immortals and the Dragon you can develop. Matching elements can activate the game’s Elemental Aura mechanic, so a coherent group has a reason to exist beyond individual rarity. Do not sacrifice every other consideration for a color match: availability and upgrade reliability still decide whether the aura is useful over time.

Decide whether the first march must primarily clear general PvE, Gnome Bosses, Spider, Well of Time, Mysterium or early PvP. The 2024 guide presents separate PvE configurations, which is evidence that one arrangement will not perform identically in every activity. Start with the mode blocking your progression, then adapt after the core is stable.

Immortals and cores worth evaluating
Alexander or Attila with Merlin and Zenobia
The March 2024 early-team guide repeatedly uses Alexander or Attila, Merlin and Zenobia as the foundation of its example lineups. Read that recommendation as a role-and-progression pattern: establish a dependable frontline or damage anchor, add the named support and damage pieces that your account can actually obtain, then alter the configuration for the encounter. The guide also gives variations for Gnome Bosses and Spider rather than claiming one fixed arrangement works everywhere.
Before copying the names, verify each unit’s current acquisition route on your server and whether you can continue collecting copies. If one member is unavailable, preserve the team’s function and elemental direction with an accessible substitute instead of delaying all progression for a perfect screenshot lineup. The source does not establish a universal ranking for Alexander versus Attila, so choose the one you can build more consistently.
Hippolyta and Yoshitsune as practical unlock targets
The same guide identifies Hippolyta and Yoshitsune as useful early unlock targets through in-game channels. Their value in an F2P plan is practical access: an attainable unlock can fill a march and create a path toward future stars. Confirm that the named channel still exists in your current version, because an older guide cannot guarantee that event schedules, shops or requirements remain unchanged.

Later Earth choices: Cleopatra or Gilgamesh
For a later Earth-oriented direction, the 2024 guide discusses Cleopatra and Gilgamesh. Treat these as progression-stage options, not automatic replacements for your starter core. Move toward them when your account can acquire and upgrade them without stripping the main march of resources. If the copies arrive slowly, keep the established team functional and transition one investment at a time.

Wind/Earth hybrid as an alternative route
The March 2025 community post presents a Wind/Earth hybrid as a viable F2P strategy and emphasizes artifact upgrades. A hybrid can make sense when your best obtainable Immortals and Dragon do not share one element, but it also reduces the simplicity of a single-element investment plan. Use it when your account already has sustainable Wind and Earth pieces; do not switch merely because the post is newer than another guide.
How to build the team step by step
- Inventory your account. List every usable Immortal, its current stars and skills, the source of future copies, and the Dragon you can realistically develop. Mark units that depend on paid or uncertain routes.
- Pick the progression bottleneck. Choose the activity currently preventing progress: ordinary Gnomes, a Gnome Boss, Well of Time, Mysterium, Spider or an early PvP requirement. Your first march should solve that problem before it is optimized for a later one.
- Choose an element you can maintain. Compare the elements represented by your obtainable Immortals and Dragon. Favor the element with the deepest sustainable pool, not simply the one with the most attractive isolated unit.
- Select a small core. Start with the accessible anchor and the support or damage pieces already closest to an upgrade breakpoint. The Alexander-or-Attila, Merlin and Zenobia examples from the 2024 guide are templates to test against your roster, not mandatory summons.
- Confirm the copy pipeline. Before spending rare materials, identify where the next copies or fragments will come from. If the answer is unknown, keep that Immortal as a temporary fill rather than your long-term investment target.
- Test in the target mode. Run the march in the activity you selected and record what fails: survival, damage, control, healing or timing. Change one slot or one upgrade at a time so you know which change helped.
- Lock the main march. Once it clears your current gate, stop spreading premium resources across several experimental teams. Build depth only after the primary group can advance without constant rebuilding.
Upgrade priorities for a free-to-play account
Priority 1: Concentrate on one main march
All three community sources support concentration as a strategic principle. The 2025 beginner guide recommends one elemental team, while the 2024 and 2025 hybrid guides both frame progression around a focused core. This does not mean you can never build a second march; it means the second project should not consume the materials needed to make the first march functional.
Priority 2: Improve units you can keep copying
Use your reliable copy pipeline on the Immortals that carry the main march. Star and skill improvements are valuable only when they can continue. If an event gives a temporary unit but no repeatable way to advance it, treat that unit as a situational addition rather than the account’s permanent foundation.

The Wind/Earth hybrid guide specifically highlights artifact upgrades. Artifacts should therefore be part of your early comparison, not an afterthought. Put the best available artifact investment on the Immortals doing the march’s most important job, then check whether the resulting improvement helps the content you are farming. Do not spread scarce artifact materials evenly just to make every roster slot look developed.
Priority 4: Keep the Dragon aligned with the plan
Because the official guide ties Elemental Aura to matching Immortals and Dragon, your Dragon choice belongs in the team decision from the beginning. A Dragon that matches the element you can actually sustain is more useful than a nominally ideal element you cannot develop. The current numerical value of the aura is not established by the available sources, so evaluate it through your own combat results rather than an old percentage chart.
Priority 5: Add a secondary march only after the first is stable
A second march becomes reasonable when the first one clears its regular progression targets and your account has spare copies, artifacts and Dragon investment. Build it for a distinct need—such as a different PvE configuration or PvP—rather than duplicating the first march with underdeveloped versions of the same roles.

Adapting one core to different modes
Gnomes and general progression
Use your broadest, most reliable configuration first. The goal is repeatable clearing and resource income, not a specialized setup that wins one encounter while failing ordinary stages. If a change improves a boss but slows routine farming, keep the general setup as your default and save the variation for the boss.
Gnome Bosses
The 2024 guide lists separate Gnome Boss configurations. Treat a boss attempt as a diagnostic: if the march survives but misses the damage check, improve the relevant damage or artifact investment; if it collapses early, reconsider role coverage or defensive upgrades before chasing a completely new element.
Spider
Spider is also called out as a distinct PvE case in the 2024 guide. Keep the main march intact where possible and change only the slot or artifact that addresses the encounter’s failure. A specialized Spider arrangement is worthwhile when the activity is a regular source of progress, but it should not automatically replace the team used for every other stage.
Well of Time and Mysterium
These modes appear among the early progression targets in the 2024 guide. Use them to test consistency across multiple encounters. If the same core performs acceptably in both, that is evidence your investment is broad enough for progression; if one mode exposes a weakness, make a measured adjustment instead of abandoning the entire elemental plan.
PvP
Early F2P guidance places PvE progression before a full PvP rebuild. That order protects your resource income and unlocks. Move toward PvP experimentation after the main march is developed, and judge a proposed change by repeatable results against opponents in your server environment rather than by a dated forum ranking.
Common F2P mistakes and how to recover
Copying a spender lineup literally
Some recommendations in the 2024 guide are explicitly spender options. If you built around one and cannot obtain its required copies, stop investing scarce materials there. Keep any useful, already-upgraded Immortals in temporary roles while redirecting new resources to an obtainable core.

Chasing rarity instead of progress
A rare Immortal at a low star and skill level may contribute less than an accessible unit you can repeatedly improve. Compare the next realistic upgrade, not the unit’s reputation at maximum investment.
Switching elements every time a guide changes
Elemental Aura makes coherence valuable, but changing direction repeatedly strands artifacts, copies and Dragon development. Switch only when your current route is genuinely unavailable or cannot clear the content that matters to you.
Building several half-finished marches
Multiple weak teams can leave every activity just short of completion. Return to one main march, finish its most important upgrades, then expand when the account has surplus materials.

Quoting old aura percentages as current facts
The official material confirms the matching mechanic, not a current numerical table. Avoid decisions based on an unattributed percentage from an old post; test the effect in your version and keep the claim qualitative.

- Can I name the next source of copies for every Immortal in my main march?
- Is the march’s element compatible with the Dragon I am actually developing?
- Which current activity is failing, and is the failure damage, survival, control or an upgrade gap?
- Did the last artifact investment improve the activity I care about, or was it spread without a measurable purpose?
- Am I saving for a realistic transition, or reacting to a guide that assumes a different server age or spending level?
- Would a secondary march solve a real content requirement now, or only make the roster look broader?
Answer these questions before each major resource decision. They turn changing community advice into a repeatable process you can apply to any roster.

For F2P players, the best Infinity Kingdom team is the elemental main march you can obtain, copy and upgrade consistently. Use the Alexander-or-Attila, Merlin and Zenobia examples, Hippolyta and Yoshitsune unlock targets, Earth options such as Cleopatra or Gilgamesh, and the Wind/Earth hybrid as dated starting points—not commands. Concentrate early resources on one sustainable march, include artifact and Dragon decisions in the plan, adapt only when a mode exposes a specific weakness, and postpone additional teams until the first one is genuinely developed.
