This is an engineering selection guide for designing appliance electronics—not a guide to choosing finished refrigerators or washing machines. Infineon’s public application pages identify component families for motor drives, power stages, control, sensing, and connectivity. The right choice depends on the appliance, motor and load profile, electrical and thermal limits, and the intended control architecture.

What the 2026 guide establishes—and what it does not

Infineon lists a “2026 Home Appliance Guide” as an English Product Selection Guide, version 01_00, 2.59 MB, dated August 14, 2026, with MyInfineon access required. A separate guide landing-page result is dated March 16, 2026. Those are distinct listing dates; the available public information does not establish the contents of the full 2026 PDF. The component guidance below therefore draws on Infineon’s publicly accessible application pages rather than attributing unverified recommendations to that guide. Infineon home-appliance portfolio

For broader context, Infineon’s public 2025 Home Appliance Selection Guide covers energy efficiency, sustainability, smart-home integration, motor control, power management, sensing, and connectivity. Its appliance chapters include ceiling fans, laundry machines, tumble dryers, refrigerators, and freezers; it should not be treated as the latest 2026 component list. Choose the design approach before the part family

Start with the appliance’s operating requirements, then decide how much integration or customization the power stage needs. Infineon describes CIPOS intelligent power modules (IPMs) as an integrated option for inverterized motor control. Discrete TRENCHSTOP IGBTs, CoolMOS or OptiMOS MOSFETs, and EiceDRIVER gate-driver ICs offer other power-stage building blocks. PSOC Control C3 MCUs are among the identified real-time motor-control options. CoolGaN and CoolSiC devices are also named as next-generation options, while XENSIV sensors can support feedback such as position, current, pressure, vibration, or presence. These are families to evaluate, not interchangeable parts or a performance ranking. Infineon home-appliance portfolio

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Integrated IPM: Consider when reducing component count, board footprint, or development complexity is important. Integration can limit some opportunities to customize the power stage or its thermal implementation.
  • Discrete power devices and gate drivers: Consider when flexibility, thermal optimization, or a customized implementation matters more than integration. The design team must evaluate the complete power stage and protection approach.
  • Control and feedback: Match the MCU, motor-control functions, sensors, and any power-factor-correction (PFC) requirements to the number of motors and the chosen topology.

Compare candidates against the motor and load profile, voltage and current demands, thermal limits, efficiency across intended operating conditions, electromagnetic-interference (EMI) requirements, protection needs, board space, system cost, sensing, control, and connectivity or security requirements. The portfolio pages identify these as relevant design concerns, but the final choice requires validation against the actual system and device documentation. Infineon home-appliance portfolio

Product families by appliance

Washing machines and tumble dryers

Infineon says modern washers and dryers need to balance acoustic noise, water and detergent efficiency, power efficiency, human-machine interface (HMI), connectivity, and smart functions. For inverterized brushless DC (BLDC) motor control, it lists discrete MOSFETs and IGBTs as well as integrated IPMs. The company describes CIPOS IPMs as a way to reduce parts and footprint and simplify development; discrete devices can suit designs that prioritize thermal optimization, flexibility, or customization. Infineon specifically identifies its 600 V RC-D2 IGBT series as developed for inverterized laundry-machine motors. Infineon washing and drying applications

For motor-control MCUs, the application page identifies XMC1300/1400 for single-motor control, XMC7000 for two or three motors, and PSOC Control C3M for configurations such as a single motor plus PFC or dual motors plus PFC. Use motor count, real-time control functions, topology, and wide-bandgap compatibility as selection dimensions, then check current device documentation for the specific part. Refrigerators and freezers

Infineon connects refrigerator and freezer efficiency with inverterized compressor drives and motor control. Its application page names CoolMOS 8 and PFD7 MOSFET families for light-load efficiency, CIPOS Micro IPMs for compact integrated designs and humidity resistance, and 600 V RC-D2 IGBTs or CIPOS Mini IPMs as full-load design options. The page characterizes the IGBT alternative in terms of EMI and reliable full-load operation, while the IPM emphasizes integration and SOI gate-driver technology. These are vendor-stated design characteristics, not independent comparative test results. Infineon refrigerator and freezer applications

Ceiling fans

For inverterized fan motor control, Infineon presents IPMs as an integration route and discrete IGBTs or MOSFETs as a flexibility and price/performance route. It also names iMOTION motor-control ICs and evaluation boards for prototyping. One high-voltage ceiling-fan reference design specifies 35 W maximum input power and a PFC stage with power factor greater than 0.9. Both figures apply to that reference design alone, not to ceiling fans generally. Infineon ceiling-fan applications

Validate the shortlist against the real design

  1. Define the application: Record motor type and count, operating and load conditions, topology, and whether PFC is required.
  2. Set electrical and thermal constraints: Check the actual voltage and current demands, thermal design, efficiency over the operating range, EMI, and protection requirements against candidate-device documentation.
  3. Choose integration level: Decide whether an IPM’s integration and smaller footprint or a discrete implementation’s flexibility and thermal customization better fits the product constraints.
  4. Match control and feedback: Confirm that the MCU, real-time control functions, sensor needs, connectivity, and security requirements support the complete appliance architecture.
  5. Confirm implementation details: Review current datasheets and application documentation for the exact part, package, operating limits, and design requirements.
  6. Check procurement regionally: Verify the exact part number, availability, and sourcing terms for the intended market; the application pages establish families, not current regional stock.
