Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
Infernal Origins is a Forge modpack for Minecraft Java 1.16.5. CurseForge lists v2.0.0 Patch 2, released January 19, 2024, as the latest release. Install that profile through the CurseForge app, allow about 6–8 GB of RAM as recommended by the project page, and keep every player on the identical Minecraft, Forge, and modpack versions. For a small group, the pack’s included Essential hosting route is the documented way to play together without purchasing a separate server. A dedicated server is possible only after you obtain and verify server files for this exact release.
What Infernal Origins is
Infernal Origins is an MMO-inspired, high-difficulty Minecraft modpack created by DaddyUnion. Its design combines class-like character roles, escalating progression, raid-style bosses, custom loot presentation, and repeatable runs. The intended experience is cooperative: the creator describes the pack as built for at least three players, while also allowing solo play.

The currently listed release is Infernal Origins v2.0.0 Patch 2 for Minecraft Java Edition 1.16.5 using Forge. CurseForge dates that release to January 19, 2024. A profile for another Minecraft version or another mod loader is not an equivalent installation.
How the pack’s progression works
Thirteen custom Origins
The pack contains 13 custom Origins organized around recognizable party roles, including damage dealer (DPS), healer, tank, and utility-focused characters. Your Origin is therefore more than a cosmetic choice: it helps determine what you contribute during exploration, ordinary fights, and boss encounters. A balanced group should discuss roles before starting a long run so that several players do not select the same function by accident.
#1 Best Overall
Each Origin upgrades after the Ender Dragon is defeated. That creates a major progression milestone: the Dragon is not simply the end of a conventional Minecraft playthrough, but a trigger for improving the class system that supports later content.
Scaling difficulty and repeated attempts
Difficulty increases over time. Falling behind the intended progression can make subsequent encounters harder, so delaying advancement indefinitely is a strategic risk. The project presents the pack as suitable for roguelike-style repeated attempts: a failed run is part of learning the systems, improving coordination, and trying a different approach rather than proof that the pack has no viable path forward.

Bosses with raid-style mechanics
Infernal Origins adds familiar Minecraft bosses with custom mechanics, including attacks designed to wipe an unprepared party. Treat these fights as coordinated encounters rather than ordinary damage races. Roles, positioning, communication, and recognizing an incoming wipe attack matter as much as equipment.
MMO-style items and large stacks
Items use custom rarities and colored borders to communicate their MMO-like tiering. The pack also raises item stack sizes to 999, changing how much material you can carry and how you organize storage. Do not assume that vanilla stack behavior is a reliable guide when planning supplies.
Requirements and memory guidance
| Requirement | Documented value | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft edition and version | Java Edition 1.16.5 | Use the Java profile generated for the pack; a Bedrock installation is not the listed target. |
| Mod loader | Forge | The loader must match the pack profile. Do not substitute Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt. |
| Latest listed pack release | v2.0.0 Patch 2 | This is the release identified on the CurseForge project page, dated January 19, 2024. |
| RAM recommendation | 6–8 GB | This is the only explicit hardware recommendation published on the canonical project page. |
| CPU, GPU, storage, operating system | Not stated | The project page does not publish complete specifications for these components. |
Use the documented 6–8 GB range for the game allocation, while leaving enough physical memory for the operating system and other applications. If the launcher reports memory pressure, close browsers, recording software, and other heavy programs before increasing anything. The published figure should not be treated as a complete performance guarantee: no specific processor, graphics card, disk type, operating-system version, or frame-rate target is provided.
Install Infernal Origins with CurseForge
The least ambiguous installation method is to let CurseForge create and manage the profile. This keeps the pack’s Forge loader, mods, and configuration in one dedicated modding folder.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Install or open the CurseForge app and select its Minecraft area.
- Open Browse or Discover, choose Minecraft modpacks, and search for Infernal Origins.
- Select the listed Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge release and confirm that the version is v2.0.0 Patch 2, if you intend to use the latest listed build.
- Start the installation. CurseForge will create a profile and its dedicated modding folder; allow the download and extraction process to finish before launching.
- Launch the generated profile from CurseForge. The first start can take longer while Forge and the pack build their local files.
Do not copy this installation into a profile using Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt, or a different Minecraft version. CurseForge’s compatibility rule is straightforward: the loader and game version must match the modpack. Mixing profiles can produce missing-mod errors, a crash during startup, or a world that does not load correctly.
Verify the installation before starting a world
- Confirm that the launcher is starting the Infernal Origins profile rather than an unmodded 1.16.5 profile.
- Check that the profile identifies Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge.
- Make sure the displayed pack release is the one your group agreed to use.
- Start once before scheduling a group session so that downloads, configuration creation, and initial loading are complete.
- Open a test world and verify that the custom systems load. If the game stops at startup, return to the profile and check the loader and version before changing individual files.
Choosing a way to play with friends
| Option | Setup effort | Cost model | Control and administration | Compatibility considerations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential friend hosting | Shortest documented route | Can avoid buying a separate server for a small group | Convenient for occasional sessions; less server administration than a dedicated machine | Every player still needs the same pack release, Minecraft 1.16.5, and Forge profile |
| Dedicated server | Higher; server files and configuration must be verified | Requires hosting or your own hardware | More control over uptime, backups, permissions, and who can connect | An exact-release server pack must contain the required dependencies, configs, and world-generation files |
For a few friends who want to play without maintaining infrastructure, Essential is the practical starting point because it is included in the pack and is specifically described as allowing friends to play without purchasing a server. A dedicated server becomes attractive when you need an always-on world, scheduled backups, persistent administration, or tighter access control.

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
Host a small group through Essential
- Have every participant install the same Infernal Origins release through CurseForge. Agree on the exact version before anyone creates a long-term world.
- Have every participant launch Minecraft 1.16.5 with the Forge profile generated for the pack. A vanilla client or a different loader cannot join this modded session.
- The player acting as host should start the pack and use the included Essential hosting path. Follow the in-game hosting and friend-invite controls provided by Essential rather than adding separate server software.
- Invite the other players through that hosting path and have them join only after they have reached the same pack version and loader.
- Test a short session before investing in a major progression run. Confirm that everyone can connect, load the world, and see the expected modded content.
Essential reduces setup work, but it does not remove version discipline. If one player updates the profile while another remains on an older build, the connection may fail or the clients may behave differently. Keep a record of the release used for the world and avoid changing it casually.
Use the built-in proximity voice chat
Proximity voice chat is included in the pack and is activated with the X key. A headset with a microphone is the most direct accessory for this feature because it limits speaker feedback and lets players communicate during combat without relying on an external voice application.
- Connect and select your microphone before launching or joining the session.
- Enter the world and press X to activate the pack’s voice-chat function.
- Test with another player at different distances so you know that proximity behavior and volume are working.
- If nobody hears you, verify the operating system’s selected input device and the game’s voice settings before assuming the server connection is at fault.
Run this test before a boss attempt. Voice chat is especially useful when a group must call out a wipe attack, coordinate tank and healer responsibilities, or warn others that a player is retreating.
Dedicated-server setup: what is and is not confirmed
The canonical Infernal Origins page does not publish a dedicated-server recipe. That means there is no confirmed command sequence, server download, Java runtime requirement, port configuration, or startup script that can safely be presented as an official procedure for this pack.

General Modrinth documentation discusses server-side tools such as Modrinth Servers, mrpack-install, and the itzg/minecraft-server Docker image. Those tools are leads for technical investigation, not proof that they support this specific Forge 1.16.5 release. Do not deploy one of them blindly and assume that a client profile is sufficient.
Checklist before deploying a dedicated instance
- Obtain or generate a server pack for the exact Infernal Origins release you intend to run.
- Confirm that the server uses Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge, matching every client.
- Check that all required server-side mods, dependencies, configuration files, and world-generation files are present.
- Start the server in a disposable test directory and inspect the startup log for missing dependencies or loader errors.
- Connect with a clean client profile before importing an established world.
- Set up backups and decide who controls permissions and player access before opening the server to the group.
If you cannot verify an exact-release server pack, use Essential instead of improvising a dedicated deployment. A server that starts while silently missing generation or configuration files can create a world that is difficult to repair later.
Troubleshoot the problems players most often encounter
The game crashes during launch
First confirm the three-part match: Infernal Origins release, Minecraft 1.16.5, and Forge. Remove any assumption that a Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt, or newer-version profile is interchangeable. Reopen the CurseForge-created profile and launch it without manually mixing files from another instance.
The launcher reports memory pressure
Use the project’s 6–8 GB recommendation, leave operating-system headroom, and close other memory-heavy applications. If the warning continues, check whether several launchers, browsers, recording tools, or game clients are running simultaneously. The project does not publish a CPU, GPU, or storage specification, so do not “fix” an unverified bottleneck by guessing at a particular hardware upgrade.
Best Value
A friend cannot join the Essential session
- Compare the exact displayed modpack release on both clients.
- Confirm that both clients are on Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge.
- Have the player relaunch the CurseForge profile rather than a vanilla shortcut.
- Test a new session before blaming the existing world; this separates profile problems from world-specific problems.
Voice chat does not work
Press X in the world, verify the selected microphone, and test with a nearby player. A headset microphone avoids the most common feedback problem. If the control responds but no audio is transmitted, check operating-system microphone permissions and input selection.
The group is overwhelmed by rising difficulty
Because difficulty scales over time, treat progression as a schedule rather than postponing every major objective. Reconsider Origin roles, communicate during boss mechanics, and use failed attempts to adjust the next run. The pack’s repeated-run design makes experimentation part of the intended play style.

Before launch
- Choose a host and decide whether Essential is sufficient for the group’s schedule.
- Install the identical release on every computer and complete one solo startup test.
- Assign a rough spread of DPS, healer, tank, and utility roles among the 13 Origins.
- Connect microphones and test the X-key proximity chat.
During progression
- Keep the party moving toward progression goals so the scaling difficulty does not outpace your equipment and coordination.
- Learn each boss’s custom mechanics before committing to a prolonged fight.
- Use the custom rarities and item borders to identify upgrades, and remember that stacks can reach 999 when organizing supplies.
- After the Ender Dragon, revisit each player’s Origin because the upgrade changes the party’s available capabilities.
When a run fails
Record what caused the failure: an unfilled role, a missed wipe attack, insufficient communication, or a progression delay. Then adjust the next attempt rather than changing loaders, versions, or server software. Infernal Origins is explicitly structured around difficult, replayable runs, so a reset can be useful information for the next strategy.
Bottom-line setup decision
Install the latest listed profile, v2.0.0 Patch 2, through CurseForge on Minecraft Java 1.16.5 with Forge. Use the published 6–8 GB RAM guidance, keep the profile isolated from other loaders, and start with Essential when a small friend group wants the simplest no-separate-server option. Choose a dedicated server only when you can verify server files for this exact release and are prepared to manage backups, permissions, uptime, and compatibility.
