Shrutika says she turned down some job opportunities after returning to India from the UK because they did not meet her three priorities: challenging work, a multinational employer and a minimum salary of ₹7 lakh per annum. Those details come from an Instagram video described in a Hindustan Times report published October 3, 2026; the outlet said it had not independently verified the user-generated claims.

Why Shrutika said she turned down some jobs

In the account reported by Hindustan Times, Shrutika described looking for her first full-time job in India after returning from the UK. She said she had set three non-negotiables and preferred to wait for a role that matched them rather than accept an available job that did not.

She also said the criteria made her search difficult and sometimes left her wondering whether she was being too picky. The report does not say how long she searched or whether she eventually accepted a job.

Her three non-negotiables

Challenging work with room to grow

She wanted a role that would challenge her and give her opportunities to learn and develop.

A multinational employer

She said she wanted to work for a multinational company where she could apply her international work experience and understanding of different markets.

A minimum salary of ₹7 lakh per year

Shrutika said her minimum was ₹7 lakh per annum, or ₹7 LPA. She connected that personal threshold to her education, the experience she had built and the kind of role she was seeking. She also said some startups offered interesting work but could not meet her compensation expectation.

“My minimum was 7 LPA. I wasn’t willing to go below that. Not because I thought I was entitled to 7 LPA as a fresher, but because I knew how much I’ve invested in my education, the experience I have built, and the kind of role I’m looking for.”

What the ₹7 LPA figure does—and does not—mean

The ₹7 lakh figure is Shrutika’s stated minimum, not a salary survey, market benchmark or claim about what returning workers generally earn. The Hindustan Times report provides no broader salary data or independent assessment of her experience, qualifications or expected pay. Its headline shortens her reported phrase “I just knew the value I’m bringing to the table” to “I knew my value.”

What is known about her job search outcome

The report describes her decision-making and the opportunities she said she turned down, but it does not identify an eventual employer or establish whether she accepted a position. Hindustan Times said its account relied on user-generated social-media content, that it had not independently verified the claims and that it had reached out to Shrutika for comment.
