The available report supports a more specific description: the quarterly revenue result was slightly short of estimates, while the growth outlook was better than expected. How large were the reported market moves?
In the same early-trading account, HCLTech rose more sharply than the indices. The Nifty IT, which tracks a basket of IT stocks, gained more than the broad-market Nifty 50 in that snapshot. They do not, by themselves, establish how the indices or HCLTech finished the session, what caused every constituent stock to move, or whether the gains continued afterward.

Reuters quoted JP Morgan analysts describing HCLTech’s in-line results and forecast as unusual relative to the sector’s recent reporting. Their assessment was: “In a season with a succession of misses and underwhelming pre-tariff expectations, HCLTech’s in-line results and forecast is a rare feat and best among peers.” This is the analysts’ opinion, not an independently established ranking of all IT companies.

The comment helps explain why a forecast that was not a dramatic growth promise could still draw a favorable response: its relative standing against expectations and peers can matter to investors. Reuters did not identify an individual speaker for the quote, so it is properly attributed to JP Morgan analysts as a group.

A separate Reuters report from October 2025 describes a different trading session. In that later account, Indian benchmarks edged higher after HCLTech beat second-quarter revenue estimates and maintained its annual growth forecast; the Nifty IT rose 0.6%. For the Wednesday move, the supported explanation is therefore specific: investors reacted positively to HCLTech’s better-than-expected fiscal 2026 revenue-growth guidance, even though quarterly revenue was slightly below estimates. The market percentages describe the early-session snapshot Reuters reported, not a current market update.
