Incogni is the closer fit if you want recurring, largely hands-off requests to data brokers; Kanary is the closer fit if you need risk-based monitoring and broader mitigation options. The better choice depends on your location, the kinds of exposure you want addressed, whether you need custom removals, and what the subscription costs at renewal. Neither service controls every website, so a listing’s removal is not guaranteed.
How Incogni and Kanary approach personal-data exposure
Both services seek to reduce personal information online, but their approaches are not identical. Incogni centers on recurring opt-out requests to data brokers. Kanary describes a risk-based process that monitors exposure and can combine removals with other mitigation steps.
Do not treat each provider’s site-coverage figures as directly comparable: the services describe different coverage models. A larger number of sites listed does not by itself show how many of your particular listings will be removed.

Incogni: recurring broker opt-outs
Incogni’s Standard plan submits recurring automated removal requests across 420+ data broker sites, including requests involving multiple email addresses, phone numbers, and home addresses. Its Unlimited plans add custom removal requests for sites outside Standard coverage; Incogni describes this additional coverage as 3,000+ sites. Annual plans include ongoing monitoring and resubmitted requests, according to the company. See Incogni’s pricing and subscription plans.
#1 Best Overall
Incogni says response times depend on the broker: some respond within hours, while others take weeks. Requests may take more than 30 days, so one month may not be enough for removals to complete or remain durable. Incogni’s plan and pricing guidance explains that removal scope and applicable rights can differ by location. The company cites laws including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA; that does not mean every right or plan works the same way worldwide.
Kanary: risk-based monitoring and mitigation
Kanary describes coverage, scan frequency, remediation, and support as configured to risk. Its process can include asking a site to remove information, updating exposed information with less sensitive details, enrolling someone in address confidentiality programs, or escalating an issue. Those options matter when the concern is broader than a standard broker listing.
Kanary says some public records, such as property or professional records, may not be removable. Its July 2026 product brief says timelines can range from 24 hours to 90 days or longer, and explains that third-party sites control deletion: “But Kanary cannot directly delete the data on someone else’s website.” That is a description of the limits of its process, not independent proof of an outcome. Which service fits your situation?
| If you need… | More likely fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Recurring broker opt-outs with minimal involvement | Incogni Standard | Its core model is recurring automated requests across its stated broker coverage. |
| Requests to sites outside standard broker coverage | Incogni Unlimited | Unlimited adds custom removal requests, according to Incogni. |
| Exposure monitoring and mitigation beyond broker opt-outs | Kanary | Its described approach can include remediation and escalation, with features varying by tier. |

Geography can determine whether a plan is an option at all. Kanary’s July 2026 brief says Core is available only to US residents, while Advanced is available outside the US in some countries—not all countries. Check current eligibility for your location before comparing features or prices. Incogni also says its available rights and removal scope vary by jurisdiction. Check Incogni’s country availability information.

A 2025 peer-reviewed study by He et al., “Measuring the Accuracy and Effectiveness of PII Removal Services,” reported an average removal success rate of 48.2% across four tested services. In that study, Incogni’s removal success was 76.6%, while Kanary’s was 23.4%. Read the study in Proceedings on Privacy Enhancing Technologies.
Those figures are study results, not a forecast or guarantee for an individual. The authors caution that their participant sample consisted mainly of US university students and may not represent typical customers. They also report variation across users and brokers. The results offer a useful comparison under the study’s conditions, but they do not settle which service will remove a particular listing today.

Check these details before you subscribe
- Make a short exposure list. Note the types of information and sites that concern you, such as broker profiles, social-media posts, AI/LLM exposure, or public records. Match those needs to the service’s stated scope rather than relying on a headline site count.
- Verify availability where you live. In particular, confirm Kanary tier eligibility for your country and which rights or request types apply under local rules.
- Compare renewal costs. For Incogni, distinguish the first-year promotion from the later annual charge. For Kanary, check whether your desired configuration adds costs.
- Allow time for third parties to respond. Requests are not instant deletion commands, and removal timelines differ by site.
- Decide what you need when a record cannot be removed. If mitigation, escalation, or help with residual exposure matters, assess the specific options included in the relevant Kanary tier rather than assuming a public record can be deleted.
