IKEA’s nine-piece Xbox YXSTABY collection is home furniture and gaming accessories—not a console or game—and its prices vary by country. IKEA UK listings range from £12 for a controller-shaped platter to £115 for a side table, while Canadian examples range from C$19.99 to C$199. The claim that the pieces are cheaper than many modern games is not established by the available official sources: no representative game-price comparison is provided.
What is the IKEA and Xbox YXSTABY collection?
YXSTABY is a nine-piece collaboration designed to bring gaming-inspired furniture and accessories into shared living spaces. IKEA and Xbox describe pieces that translate controller forms, including the D-pad and thumbstick, into household objects. It is not an Xbox hardware or game launch. IKEA announced availability beginning October 1, 2026, with availability varying by market. See the IKEA YXSTABY collection and the Xbox Wire announcement.
The range covers several needs in a home gaming setup: seating, moving or displaying a screen, supporting a laptop or monitor, and keeping gaming gear together. IKEA says the collection is intended for homes that do not have a dedicated gaming room, with storage for controllers, cables, and hardware. Its TV stand is described as IKEA’s first of this type: it has wheels, rear storage, and can be rolled away after use. IKEA’s Product Design Developer, Philip Dilé, said the aim was to make furniture people would want in their home rather than accept as a gaming necessity. Xbox Devices design head Carl Ledbetter described the design approach as translating controller elements into furniture suited to everyday spaces.

Is YXSTABY cheaper than many modern games?
Some individual accessories have low listed prices, but the broad comparison is not verified. IKEA and Xbox’s official materials do not provide a benchmark for the price of a modern game. Without naming games and editions and matching their platform, retailer, market, and date, “cheaper than many modern games” is an unsubstantiated comparison rather than a reliable way to judge the collection. The claim appears in the headline framing of Neowin, but it is not demonstrated by the official product information.

What should you know about the individual pieces?
Thumbstick stool
The stool takes its shape from a controller thumbstick. IKEA’s U.S. listing for the black version gives a price of $49.99, a diameter of 14¾ inches, a height of 17⅜ inches, and a maximum load of 243 pounds. IKEA advises keeping feet on the floor when using the standing support. Those measurements and the listed load apply to that U.S. product listing.
TV stand and side table
The TV stand’s wheels are meant to let a screen move to where people play and then roll away. IKEA says it includes rear storage for gaming gear. The wheeled side table offers another movable surface; names vary slightly by market, with UK listing “castors” and Canada “casters.”

How to decide whether a piece fits your setup
- For flexible screen placement: consider the wheeled TV stand if you want to move a screen between play and shared-use areas.
- For limited space: prioritize pieces that serve a clear everyday purpose and can be moved or stored without claiming a separate gaming room.
- For seating: compare the stool or lounge chair with your available footprint and intended use; check local product specifications before buying.
- For small accessories: treat the platter, display boxes, and device supports as add-ons, not as evidence that a controller or other electronics are bundled.
- For price comparisons: compare items in the same country and currency, and verify current local availability on IKEA’s storefront.
