IKEA’s VÅGSTRANDA is a pocket-spring mattress with two spring layers and seven comfort zones. The US Queen firm listing describes an 11-inch mattress and advertises pressure relief, reduced motion transfer and heat dissipation—but those benefits are IKEA’s claims, not independently verified test results. The available evidence supports a clear look at its construction and listing details, but not a hands-on verdict on how it feels or holds up.
What the VÅGSTRANDA is—and which version this review covers
VÅGSTRANDA is IKEA’s pocket-spring mattress. This review uses the US listing for the firm, white Queen, article 705.118.75, as its reference point. IKEA also lists other firmness options, and sizes and firmness labels vary by market; check the listing for your country before treating these specifications as universal. IKEA US product listing
How it is built
IKEA describes two layers of pocket springs and seven comfort zones. Its stated goals for the zones and spring design include supporting spine alignment, relieving pressure and reducing motion transfer. IKEA also says the construction helps dissipate heat. Those are manufacturer descriptions; the available evidence does not independently establish the mattress’s pressure relief, temperature feel or motion isolation in use.
For the US Queen firm model, IKEA lists a thickness of 11 inches and dimensions of 79.5 inches long by 60 inches wide. Materials listed include a steel pocket-spring unit, polyurethane foam, viscose/polyester filling, polypropylene lining, top and side ticking made from 100% recycled polyester, and underside ticking made from 90% viscose and 10% recycled polyester. These details refer to the examined US listing.

Will the firm version suit you?
The listing establishes that a firm option exists, not whether it will feel comfortable for a particular sleeper. In particular, the available evidence does not establish whether this model suits side sleepers or how it compares in feel with the plush version. Firmness labels are not a substitute for trying a mattress: comfort depends on the sleeper and their preferences. If you are deciding between options, compare the firmness choices available in your market and check the applicable return or exchange terms before buying.

What IKEA says about testing
IKEA’s US Full listing says the mattress has been tested to meet EN 1957 durability requirements and US 16 CFR 1633/1632 flammability requirements. This reports IKEA’s statement; test reports were not examined, and it does not establish how the mattress will perform over time for an individual owner. IKEA US product listing

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Verdict: a spec-led choice, not a proven comfort pick
VÅGSTRANDA’s documented selling points are its two pocket-spring layers, seven comfort zones, stated dimensions and limited warranty. IKEA’s listing also makes claims about pressure relief, motion transfer and heat, but the available evidence does not independently verify those benefits or establish real-world comfort and durability for this exact model. Treat it as a candidate to assess against your preferred firmness and local purchase terms, rather than assuming the advertised benefits guarantee a particular sleep experience.
