The IKEA MORGEDAL is a legacy foam-mattress line, not one clearly defined model: IKEA’s older US and UK guides describe different firmness, size, and foam options. Those guides document a 7⅛-inch (18 cm) profile and features such as five comfort zones, but they do not establish current availability, price, or how the mattress performs in independent testing. If you are considering a used or marketplace listing, identify its market, construction, firmness, and product number before judging whether it suits you.
Is the IKEA MORGEDAL still worth buying?
There is not enough current evidence to give a straightforward value verdict. IKEA’s January 2023 US buying guide and its UK buying guide document product features, but they are not live listings and do not establish today’s stock or price. They also do not provide independent performance testing. Treat MORGEDAL as a product family with market- and version-specific details, rather than assuming every mattress with that name is the same.
For a used mattress or marketplace listing, first compare the label and listing with the relevant regional guide. Check the mattress’s condition in person where possible; the guides do not establish how well a particular used unit has held up.

What do the comfort claims mean?
IKEA describes the high-resilience foam as following body movements and says the five comfort zones are intended to support the shoulders and hips. The US guide also mentions a soft comfort-filling layer. These are manufacturer descriptions of design and intended benefit, not evidence that the mattress relieves pain, suits a particular sleeping position, sleeps cool, or performs better than another mattress.
The UK guide separately describes its medium-firm memory-foam model as having a layer that moulds to body contours. That wording applies to that listed construction; it should not be used to describe every MORGEDAL.

What should you verify before buying one?
- Identify the market and exact model. Find the product label or article number and compare it with the appropriate regional guide. The US guide lists separate article numbers for sizes and firmnesses; size options also vary by market.
- Confirm construction and firmness. Check whether the mattress is high-resilience foam or the separately listed UK memory-foam version, and whether it is firm or medium firm.
- Measure the mattress. The guides list a thickness of 7⅛ inches in the US and 18 cm in the UK. Confirm the actual dimensions against the bed frame and the item you are buying.
- Check care instructions on the exact item. The guides describe washable covers, but confirm the label’s instructions for the specific edition rather than assuming the cover can be washed in a particular way.
- Read the warranty terms for the relevant country and edition. The US guide calls the coverage a 10-year limited warranty; the UK guide says 10-year guarantee. Those summaries do not establish eligibility or claim terms for an individual mattress.
What the available evidence does not establish
- Whether IKEA currently sells MORGEDAL or what it costs today.
- Independent measurements of comfort, support, durability, temperature, or pressure relief.
- How long a particular mattress lasts in actual use, or whether it will suit a specific sleeper.
- Whether a marketplace listing matches the model and edition described in either guide.
