The IKEA GÅTEBO 206.035.04 combines a microwave, air fryer, grill and convection oven in one freestanding appliance. IKEA Australia lists a 26 L usable capacity, 900 W microwave output, a five-year guarantee and a displayed price of A$329. Its three customer reviews are too few to establish how well it cooks or how reliable it is, and independent performance testing was not available in the sources cited here.
What the GÅTEBO does
IKEA describes the GÅTEBO as a freestanding microwave oven with an air-fry function. Its listed modes give it more range than a microwave that only reheats and defrosts, though the specifications alone do not show how evenly it cooks.
- Microwave: ten power levels, with up to 900 W output.
- Air fry: can be used with or without preheating.
- Combination cooking: microwave plus convection.
- Grill: a separate grill function.
- Assisted cooking: ten presets, plus defrost by weight or time and two-stage cooking.
IKEA’s product page also quotes kitchen-range developer Nanette Weisdal describing air-fried vegetables and fries as crunchy without hot oil. That is IKEA’s description of the intended benefit, not an independently verified performance result.

The available evidence does not establish air-frying performance under controlled conditions. IKEA Australia’s page showed one customer report of food cooking mainly on top and being unevenly done. That is an individual account, not a comparative test, so it cannot show whether the issue is typical or how the appliance performs with different foods, quantities or settings.

The same page showed three customer reviews overall and a 3.3/5 rating. One reviewer reported keypad failures after two months; another said the appliance worked as described and saved space. Capacity, dimensions and electrical requirements
IKEA Australia lists the cavity as 26 L usable volume. The manual gives a capacity figure of 26.67 L, so the rounded product-page figure and manual figure should not be treated as conflicting measurements of the exterior. The appliance measures 49.5 cm wide, 43.6 cm deep and 29.2 cm high; IKEA lists its net weight as 16.10 kg. The turntable diameter in the manual is 288 mm.

What comes in the box, and how do you clean it?
IKEA Australia lists an air-fry grid, a microwave grill grid and a power cable with plug as included. The listing does not establish that other trays or accessories are included. For routine care, IKEA advises wiping residue with warm water and mild detergent, then drying with a soft cloth; it says to avoid solvents and abrasive products. IKEA Australia product page.

Price, guarantee and availability depend on market
At the time reflected by IKEA Australia’s product page, the displayed price was A$329. The page advertises a five-year guarantee and says the appliance bears CE and RCM marks. Price, availability and guarantee terms can vary by market and change over time, so check the listing and local guarantee conditions before buying. IKEA New Zealand also lists the model, but its prices apply to that market, not Australia. The Australian and New Zealand pages both showed a 3.3/5 rating from three reviews; they may share a review pool, so these figures should not be combined as six independent reviews. The GÅTEBO may suit someone who wants microwave, grill, air-fry and convection functions in a single freestanding appliance and has space for its listed footprint. Whether that combination is a good fit depends on the buyer’s priorities; specifications do not establish that it can replace a full-size oven or outperform a dedicated air fryer.

When comparing compact combination ovens, check the outer dimensions and usable capacity, microwave output, included air-fry accessory, available cooking modes, electrical compatibility and the guarantee in your market. Give more weight to independent testing or a larger body of customer evidence if cooking consistency or long-term reliability is central to your decision; the available information here does not establish comparative cooking results.
