Choose by footprint first, then by budget. IKEA’s gaming range spans compact shelf desks, full-size surfaces, sit/stand workstations and desk-and-chair bundles, but the same product is not priced or stocked identically in every country. A 47 1/4 × 23 5/8-inch UTVISNING can suit a much tighter room than a 63 × 31 1/2-inch UTESPELARE, while an electric MÅLOMRÅDE needs both a larger floor area and a substantially higher budget.

What “IKEA gaming furniture alternatives” means

Start with a room-and-equipment measurement
Use painter’s tape to mark the proposed desk outline on the floor. Measure the longest and deepest usable rectangle, then reserve space for the chair to roll back, open drawers or doors and walk past the setup. Record obstacles such as radiators, windows, skirting boards and power outlets.
Measure the equipment envelope
- Measure each monitor’s width and stand depth, not only the screen diagonal.
- Add the keyboard, mouse, controller, speakers, microphone and any charging dock to the desk-depth calculation.
- Decide where the computer tower will sit. A compact top may become crowded if the tower must share it.

The HUVUDSPELARE has the lowest listed US desk price in this selection, but “budget” is not determined by price alone. UTVISNING costs more while occupying less floor area and adding a shelf; UTESPELARE costs more than HUVUDSPELARE while providing a wider, deeper footprint. Before choosing it, verify three clearances: the chair’s width and backward travel, the monitor stand or arm depth, and the location of the computer tower. A 23 5/8-inch depth leaves less front-to-back margin for a large stand, so measure that stand rather than assuming every monitor will fit comfortably.
Use a cart when the floor area is fixed
The LÅNESPELARE computer cart is listed at 19 5/8 × 10 5/8 inches and $39.99 in the US snapshot. A wheeled cart can place the tower or peripherals beside the desk and free desktop space without increasing the desk’s width. Check wheel clearance, cable slack and ventilation around the tower; the cart does not enlarge the monitor or keyboard surface.

Lower-cost desk choices
HUVUDSPELARE in the US
US IKEA lists HUVUDSPELARE at $129.99 with a 55 1/8 × 31 1/2-inch footprint. That is a lower entry price than the other US desks in the table and provides more depth than UTVISNING. It is worth comparing when you need a conventional full-size top and already own a suitable chair.
Check the complete cost, not only the desk
Add the chair, monitor stand or arm, cable accessories, delivery and assembly supplies to your worksheet. A desk that appears cheaper can require a separate chair, while a bundle may include one but offer less freedom to choose its adjustments. IKEA’s displayed customer ratings and review counts are page data, not independent evidence of comfort or durability.
When a larger setup justifies a larger desk
UTESPELARE for wide layouts
The US UTESPELARE listing is 63 × 31 1/2 inches at $279.99. That extra width and depth can accommodate more equipment than UTVISNING, but it also demands a larger clear floor rectangle. Mark the full outline, including any rear cable gap, before ordering.

FREDDE when configuration matters
FREDDE is listed at $379.99 in the US. IKEA’s listing shows a width range/configuration of 55 1/8 or 72 7/8 inches, with 29 1/8 × 57 1/2 inches also displayed. Because the listing presents multiple dimensions, confirm the exact configuration and package contents on the product page before relying on one width in your room plan.

MÅLOMRÅDE for powered sit/stand use
The electric MÅLOMRÅDE with monitor arms is listed at 70 7/8 × 31 1/2 inches and $899 in the US. It is the largest and most expensive example here. Allow clearance for the desktop and monitor arms through their full travel, and make sure the power cable can move without catching on a wall or chair.
Desk-and-chair bundles in the United Kingdom
IKEA UK’s category page lists these combinations in pounds. The HUVUDSPELARE desk-and-chair bundle was shown at £125 with a clearance/while-supplies-last notice. UTESPELARE/MATCHSPEL was £258, FREDDE/MATCHSPEL £328 and FREDDE/STYRSPEL £449.

These are not currency conversions or a cross-country ranking. Confirm stock, delivery and the exact included chair in the UK checkout. The clearance notice means the HUVUDSPELARE price may disappear sooner than a regular listing.
German bundle options and the expired promotion
IKEA Germany listed TROTTEN/MATCHSPEL at €249.99. The page also displayed a €248.99 promotional price valid from 12 August to 30 September 2026 or while supplies lasted; that interval has passed, so do not treat €248.99 as a current offer.

Germany’s page is useful for seeing how chair selection changes a bundle price, but it does not make those prices applicable in the UK, US or another euro-market country. Recheck the German product page for today’s stock, taxes and delivery terms.
Taiwan dimensions and chair-adjustment details
IKEA Taiwan’s collection lists UTVISNING at 120 × 60 cm and UTMANING at 160 × 80 cm, as well as electric sit/stand variants. Those metric footprints illustrate the same compact-versus-large choice without converting Taiwan prices into another currency.
The Taiwan description for STYRSPEL identifies adjustments for the headrest, lumbar support, armrests, seat height and seat depth. Treat those details as Taiwan-market specifications: verify that the same chair and adjustment package is sold in your country before using it to choose a bundle. Local currency and prices should not be generalized without a dated exchange-rate source.
Compare features model by model
Category pages describe features across selected desks and chairs, not every item in the range. UK and Germany listings mention height-adjustable options, adjustable armrests, cable-management provisions and, on some products, built-in headphone hooks or cup holders.
- Height adjustment: identify whether the desk, chair or both adjust. Ask for the exact range on the individual product page; the category evidence does not provide every model’s measurements.
- Chair adjustments: check armrest movement, seat height and depth, lumbar support and headrest availability rather than assuming a bundle includes all of them.
- Cable management: inspect the actual desk design and plan outlet access. A cable feature does not eliminate the need to route power and display cables safely.
- Hooks and holders: headphone hooks or cup holders are conveniences that vary by model. Confirm they are built in or included before counting them in your setup.
- Storage: a shelf desk and a separate cart solve different problems. A shelf adds vertical capacity; a cart moves equipment off the main top.
A step-by-step buying method
- Set the market. Open the IKEA site for the country where you will buy. Record the local currency, tax treatment, delivery charge and stock status.
- Measure the usable rectangle. Write down maximum width and depth, then subtract door, radiator and walkway clearances.

How to compare a non-IKEA alternative locally
If IKEA does not fit your room or budget, use a neutral worksheet for local computer desks and office chairs. Record manufacturer, country, current price, width, depth, height range, weight capacity if stated, storage, cable handling, chair adjustments, delivery and assembly terms. Compare like with like: a bare desk is not equivalent to a desk-and-chair bundle.

Do not infer that a competitor is cheaper or more durable without a current local listing and comparable specifications. The same measurement process works for a custom tabletop, office workstation or another retailer’s gaming desk.
Common fit problems and fixes
The desk fits, but the chair cannot move
Re-tape the desk and add the chair’s full backward travel. If the chair collides with a bed or wall, rotate the layout, choose a shallower top or reduce the number of fixed obstacles.
The monitor stand consumes the work surface
Measure the stand footprint. A shelf desk may still work with a compact stand or arm, but an arm must be compatible with the desk edge and thickness. Do not assume an arm is included unless the listing says so.
The tower has nowhere safe to go
Use the tower’s width, depth and height to evaluate a shelf or cart. Keep ventilation openings clear and leave enough cable slack for chair movement. A small desk does not automatically solve tower storage.
