IFS announced IFS Intelligence at its IFS Unleashed event in Orlando on October 13, 2026. The enterprise software is designed to let employees ask questions in plain language, inspect the data behind answers, and prepare or execute approved actions across operational systems. IFS says the product is available now and is covered by a universal enterprise-wide license for the IFS software each customer has licensed.

What IFS Intelligence is

IFS Intelligence is not a physical device or a standalone chatbot. IFS describes it as an intelligence layer that draws on live information from IFS and third-party systems, including operational assets, work orders, schedules, processes and historical records.

The intended sequence is conversational but operational: a user asks a question, examines the sources supporting the answer, considers what should happen next, and submits an action for approval or execution within company rules. IFS says the system can handle work that previously required several reports, applications and specialists.

All capability and security descriptions in this article are claims made by IFS in its launch announcements. The releases do not include independent performance testing, audited customer results or an external security assessment.

The four named parts of the product

Cowork: ask, investigate and prepare work

Cowork is the conversational interface. IFS says users can ask about operational data, investigate issues and prepare actions for a person to approve. A successful interaction can be saved as a reusable Skill, while an answer can become a live-updating Lens that keeps a view of the relevant information current.

IFS also says Cowork can connect to services such as Microsoft 365 through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The announcement does not provide a complete connector list or detail which MCP functions are enabled in each deployment.

Loops: background digital workers

Loops are defined workflows that IFS calls digital workers. They can run in the background and escalate when a decision, judgment or formal approval is required. IFS says teams can build Loops in Studio, allowing recurring operational work to be structured rather than handled through one-off prompts.

Runway: assistance for changing IFS

Runway provides plain-language assistance intended to speed migration, configuration and extension of IFS. The release does not quantify time savings or specify which migration and configuration projects qualify.

Industrial AI Harness: the control layer

IFS presents the Industrial AI Harness as the foundation that makes IFS Intelligence suitable for controlled operational use. Its announced components include:

  • Planning and orchestration
  • Skills and connectors
  • Memory and context
  • Guardrails and permissions
  • Verification and escalation
  • Observability and auditability

In practical terms, the harness is intended to connect an AI interaction to business context, authorized systems, approval policies and an auditable record of what happened.

How IFS illustrates the workflow

IFS uses production planning to explain the product. A manager asks about a large order due the following quarter. IFS says the system can bring together inventory, production capacity, supplier commitments, logistics constraints and the cost of delay, then identify risk and recommend an action for approval.

This is an illustrative vendor scenario, not a measured customer result. The announcement supplies no percentage improvement in delivery, utilization or cost, and it does not identify a customer that achieved those outcomes with IFS Intelligence.

A fleet-management example

Curtis Taylor, chief business operations officer at Sims Crane & Equipment, said he had been building skills to make operational data accessible when he saw IFS Intelligence. He said the product could surface existing system data to employees, including questions about which cranes would best meet a particular customer requirement and how to maximize fleet efficiency. That statement is a customer comment included in IFS’s announcement, not independent validation of those results.

Permissions, data handling and accountability

IFS says IFS Intelligence inherits permissions from connected systems, so a user can access only the information and actions that their existing authorization allows. IFS also claims that raw data is not sent to external AI providers and that the architecture can work across models and services.

Those are vendor assertions. The launch materials do not name an independent certification, describe the full data-flow design, list every supported model or service, or publish test results. Organizations handling safety-critical assets, regulated data or commercially sensitive plans should request architecture, retention, residency, identity-integration and audit documentation during procurement.

The harness description emphasizes verification and escalation rather than unrestricted automation. A Loops workflow may continue without intervention, but IFS says it can hand work to a person when judgment or approval is needed. The stated observability and auditability functions are intended to record activity for review.

Availability, licensing and what is not disclosed

IFS says IFS Intelligence is available now. Its announced commercial model is a universal enterprise-wide license covering the in-scope IFS software that a customer has already licensed, with no feature-gated tiers. The release also mentions an AI Executions entitlement subject to a fair-usage cap.

Commercial detail What IFS announced
Availability IFS says the product is available now.
License scope Universal enterprise-wide coverage for the in-scope IFS software licensed by the customer.
Feature tiers IFS says there are no feature gating or tiers.
AI Executions Entitlement subject to a fair-usage cap; the numeric limit is not stated.
Price Not disclosed in the launch announcement.

The announcements also do not state detailed deployment eligibility, implementation requirements, regional availability, quantified customer outcomes or an independent security certification. Prospective buyers will need those details from IFS and their implementation partners.

What the launch means for an evaluation

Organizations considering IFS Intelligence should evaluate it as an operational-system capability, not simply as a general-purpose language model. The most consequential questions are:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Which IFS modules and third-party systems can be connected in the intended deployment?
  • How are identity, role inheritance and approval limits enforced for each action?
  • Can administrators inspect the source records and reasoning context behind an answer?
  • What events are logged, how long are logs retained, and can they be exported for audit?
  • Which models and AI services may process prompts or outputs, and where does processing occur?
  • How are Skills, Lenses and Loops tested, versioned, reviewed and rolled back?
  • What counts as an AI Execution, and how does the fair-usage cap apply?
  • What implementation work is required to clean data, map processes and configure escalations?

These questions address the product’s announced strengths—system access, workflow control, permission inheritance and auditability—while recognizing that the launch materials do not provide comparative scores against competing products.

IFS’s stated industrial-AI rationale

IFS CEO Mark Moffat said industrial organizations often operate at “around 60% of their potential,” attributing the unused capacity to expertise in control rooms and night shifts and to data distributed across systems. That figure is an executive estimate from the launch release, not an independently published industry statistic.

Toby Rees, IFS’s global head of AI trust, said the company treats auditable processes, transparent governance and ethical AI as fundamental requirements. He positioned the Industrial AI Harness as the foundation for combining intelligence with context, control, accountability and operational discipline across assets, supply chains, service operations and enterprise workflows.
